La imagen corporal en adolescentes: expresión de los aprendizajes socioculturales adquiridos sobre el ser mujer
En este artículo se presentan los resultados de
una investigación cualitativa, realizada con un grupo de
quince mujeres adolescentes estudiantes del Liceo Monseñor
Rubén Odio Herrera de la provincia de San José.
Se recogen experiencias de estas jóvenes con respecto a la
forma de vivir su femineidad en la adolescencia profundizando
en cuanto a las percepciones y significados que,
a través de la educación, ellas han construido alrededor
del cuerpo femenino.
Se reúnen algunas de las principales concepciones teóricas
relativas a la imagen corporal femenina en la etapa
de la adolescencia para relacionarlas con la forma en
cómo las participantes conciben la maternidad, la belleza
física y la necesidad de aceptación frente a otras personas.
Hace referencia a la dimensión erótica del cuerpo
femenino y a la necesidad de convertirlo en un instrumento
para alcanzar y mantener el matrimoni
Excitability in a nonlinear magnetoacoustic resonator
We report a nonlinear acoustic system displaying excitability. The considered
system is a magnetostrictive material where acoustic waves are parametrically
generated. For a set of parameters, the system presents homoclinic and
heteroclinic dynamics, whose boundaries define a excitability domain. The
excitable behaviour is characterized by analyzing the response of the system to
different external stimuli. Single spiking and bursting regimes have been

Identification and characterization of an irreversible inhibitor of CDK2
Irreversible inhibitors that modify cysteine or lysine
residues within a protein kinase ATP binding site offer, through their distinctive mode of action, an alternative to ATP-competitive agents. 4-((6-(Cyclohexylmethoxy)-
9H-purin-2-yl)amino)benzenesulfonamide (NU6102) is a potent and selective ATP-competitive inhibitor of CDK2 in which the sulfonamide moiety is positioned close to a pair of lysine residues. Guided by the CDK2/NU6102 structure, we designed 6-(cyclohexylmethoxy)-N-(4-(vinylsulfonyl)phenyl)-9H-purin-2-amine (NU6300), which binds covalently to CDK2 as shown by a co-complex crystal
structure. Acute incubation with NU6300 produced a durable inhibition of Rb phosphorylation in SKUT-1B cells, consistent with it acting as an irreversible CDK2 inhibitor. NU6300 is the first covalent CDK2 inhibitor to be described, and illustrates the potential of vinyl sulfones for the design of more potent and selective compounds
A summary of the beatwave experiments at Ecole Polytechnique
We present a summary of the beatwave particle acceleration program developed
at Ecole Polytechnique. In dedicated experiments, plasma formation, plasma wave
generation and saturation, and particle acceleration were successively studied
and understood in detail. A maximum energy gain of 1.3 MeV was obtained, which
is compatible with an accelerating gradient of 0.7 GV/m.Comment: 3 pages, 4 figure
Out-of-Equilibrium Admittance of Single Electron Box Under Strong Coulomb Blockade
We study admittance and energy dissipation in an out-of-equlibrium single
electron box. The system consists of a small metallic island coupled to a
massive reservoir via single tunneling junction. The potential of electrons in
the island is controlled by an additional gate electrode. The energy
dissipation is caused by an AC gate voltage. The case of a strong Coulomb
blockade is considered. We focus on the regime when electron coherence can be
neglected but quantum fluctuations of charge are strong due to Coulomb
interaction. We obtain the admittance under the specified conditions. It turns
out that the energy dissipation rate can be expressed via charge relaxation
resistance and renormalized gate capacitance even out of equilibrium. We
suggest the admittance as a tool for a measurement of the bosonic distribution
corresponding collective excitations in the system
On the Occurrence of Finite-Time-Singularities in Epidemic Models of Rupture, Earthquakes and Starquakes
We present a new kind of critical stochastic finite-time-singularity, relying
on the interplay between long-memory and extreme fluctuations. We illustrate it
on the well-established epidemic-type aftershock (ETAS) model for aftershocks,
based solely on the most solidly documented stylized facts of seismicity
(clustering in space and in time and power law Gutenberg-Richter distribution
of earthquake energies). This theory accounts for the main observations (power
law acceleration and discrete scale invariant structure) of critical rupture of
heterogeneous materials, of the largest sequence of starquakes ever attributed

Perturbations of Noise: The origins of Isothermal Flows
We make a detailed analysis of both phenomenological and analytic background
for the "Brownian recoil principle" hypothesis (Phys. Rev. A 46, (1992), 4634).
A corresponding theory of the isothermal Brownian motion of particle ensembles
(Smoluchowski diffusion process approximation), gives account of the
environmental recoil effects due to locally induced tiny heat flows. By means
of local expectation values we elevate the individually negligible phenomena to
a non-negligible (accumulated) recoil effect on the ensemble average. The main
technical input is a consequent exploitation of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation as
a natural substitute for the local momentum conservation law. Together with the
continuity equation (alternatively, Fokker-Planck), it forms a closed system of
partial differential equations which uniquely determines an associated
Markovian diffusion process. The third Newton law in the mean is utilised to
generate diffusion-type processes which are either anomalous (enhanced), or
