Neo traditional boutique hotel
Tourism cities are facing massive emergence of new tourism enterprises that continuously catering the changing needs and lifestyles of tourists and local communities. Hospitality industry plays a major role in โbrandingโ tourism cities However, the current issue on overdevelopment of tourism accommodations with similar branding approach are causing many cities in the world losing their creativeness (Chang and Teo, 2008). The similar issue also occurred in Malaysia especially in Melaka city where thousands of hotels emerged around the cities without having creative branding style (Hall, 2000). Therefore, the need of themed boutique hotels is vital to attract local and international tourists to Melaka city. Consequently, a Neo Traditional Boutique Hotel was proposed which have not more than 10 rooms, maximum of 2-storey height with other supporting facilities. The Boutique hotel was proposed to be located at Jalan Klebang Besar near Bertโs garden restaurant
Barriers of Adopting Environmental Management Practices in the Micro and Small Island Chalets Operation
Sustainability becomes main management issues for hospitality firms. Big hospitality firms conduct countless attempts to accommodate into the sustainability agenda. However, the small hospitality firms are left behind. The reason is some barriers that are dragging them. Barriers studies regarding big hospitality companies are plenteous. However, studies regarding barriers of MSIC operators are limited in Malaysia. Therefore, the objectives are to identify the barriers and the ranking of the barriers. This study is applying the quantitative and qualitative approach. The finding shows that lack of green products is the most salient barrier. In conclusion, this study has managed to identify barriers and provide some recommendations.ยฉ 2016. The Authors. Published for AMER ABRA by e-International Publishing House, Ltd., UK. Green operation practices for MSIC operators at the East Coast Peninsular Malaysia Marine Park Islands / Zeenat Begam Yusof
The Marine tourism industry is one of the most significant economic sectors in Malaysia due to the country's richness in marine biodiversity. For the past two decades, Marine Park Islands (MPIs) in Peninsular Malaysia have been receiving high numbers of tourist arrivals. Overdevelopment of tourist accommodations on the MPIs is causing rapid degradation of marine ecological assets. Three issues were identified. The issues are (a) overdevelopment of the Micro and Small Island Chalets (MSICs) on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia MPIs which causes cumulative negative impacts on the marine ecological assets, (b) low performance of green operation practices by MSIC operators and (c) shortcoming in the management of the East Coast Peninsular Malaysia MPIs by related local authorities. Limited literatures are available regarding the issues. Therefore, the aim of this thesis is to provide appropriate recommendations for the three key, which will help to reduce the degradation of the East Coast Peninsular Malaysia MPIs' marine ecological assets. Four objectives were outlined. The first objective is to identify and analyse the negative impacts of the MSICs operation on the marine ecological assets of the East Coast Peninsular Malaysia's MPIs. The second objective is to determine MSICs green operation practices performance levels. The third objective is to investigate the most significant barriers faced by the MSIC operators in performing green operation practices and the last objective is to recognised the management barriers faced by the local authorities in managing the Tioman, Perhentian, Redang and Kapas Island. Data were collected using mixed method approach such as combination of qualitative and quantitative method involving several strategies such as survey questionnaire, semi-structured interviews, structured observations and document analysis

Environmental Practices of SICs Operators
The uncontrolled lodging industry usually caused environmental degradation. However, some lodging operators have started to incorporate green practices in their operation. The objectives of this study are to identify green practices of Small Island Chalets (SICs) operators in Kapas and Tioman Island in Malaysia and to determine the differences of the green practices on the both islands. This study had employed case study method using in-depth interview and structured observation. Six case studies were selected. The findings had identified the difference and several green practices of the operators. Therefore, this study provides a platform for another similar study to be conducted. Keywords: Green practices; Small Island Chalets (SIC); Green practices theories.eISSN: 2398-4279 ยฉ 2017.
