Bour's theorem for helicoidal surfaces with singularities

In this paper, generalizing the techniques of Bour's theorem, we prove that every generic cuspidal edge, more generally, generic nn-type edge, which is invariant under a helicoidal motion in Euclidean 33-space admits non-trivial isometric deformations. As a corollary, several geometric invariants, such as the limiting normal curvature, the cusp-directional torsion, the higher order cuspidal curvature and the bias, are proved to be extrinsic invariants.Comment: 21 pages, 9 figure

Synthesis, properties and reactivity of an ortho-phenylene-cyclopentene-bridged tetrapyrrole

    Get PDF
Increasing the number of meso-methine carbons of porphyrin has led to a creation of a series of vinylogous expanded porphyrins, while the introduction of an ortho-phenylene-unit as a pyrrole-connecting two-carbon bridge usually leads to prevention of effective macrocyclic conjugation. Cyclopentene can serve as a conjugative bridge to increase the macrocyclic conjugation owing to its cis-geometry. In this work, ortho-phenylene-cyclopentene-bridged tetrapyrrole 5 was prepared on the basis of a coupling strategy. The tetrapyrrole 5 exhibited slightly more conjugative features as compared to ortho-phenylene-bridged tetrapyrrole 4. Oxidation of 5 with [bis(trifluoroacetoxy)iodo]benzene (PIFA) at low temperature afforded a partly fused tetrapyrrolic compound 9 having a spiro-connected pyrrolo[2, 1-a]isoindole moiety

Giant Magnetochiral Anisotropy in Weyl-semimetal WTe2 Induced by Diverging Berry Curvature

The concept of Berry curvature is essential for various transport phenomena. However, an effect of the Berry curvature on magnetochiral anisotropy, i.e. nonreciprocal magneto-transport, is still elusive. Here, we report the Berry curvature originates the large magnetochiral anisotropy. In Weyl-semimetal WTe2, we observed the strong enhancement of the magnetochiral anisotropy when the Fermi level is located near the Weyl points. Notably, the maximal figure of merit γˉ\bar{\gamma} reaches 1.2×106m2T1A11.2\,{\times}10^{-6} \rm{m^2T^{-1}A^{-1}}, which is the largest ever reported in bulk materials. Our semiclassical calculation shows that the diverging Berry curvature at the Weyl points strongly enhances the magnetochiral anisotropy.Comment: 26 page

PARADOX BROUGHT FROM VARIOUS MEANINGS OF “COMPACT VILLAGES” AND “COMPACT PLUS NETWORK” POLICY

“Compact Villages” have been set in rural areas under the “Compact plus Network” of national land policy. However, the government has not indicated how to choose Compact Villages. This study was undertaken to ascertain suitable locations for Compact Villages and to consider how to choose Compact Villages. From our analyses, we identified the possibility that not only a distribution of daily facilities, but also the social capital produced by residents can maintain standards. We presented various meanings of Compact Villages occurring from variation of the function and distribution of daily facilities produced by differences of chosen standards. Especially, the improvements of road network infrastructure will not bring benefits to all Compact Villages. Rather, it will promote the selection of fewer Compact Villages. This suggests that policy of “Compact plus Network” may have paradox

Abstract.  The current paper examined the level of food or store priorities of undergraduate students in Bandung City to promote better understanding of young generation in Bandung City. Based on two authors' theoretical foundation and Health Promotion Model, student's demographics, characteristics, food choice determinants, and store choice determinants are used as dimension that may consist of eating behavior. The questionnaire's survey of lunchtime eating behavior to the two universities, i.e., Institute Technology Bandung (ITB) and Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR) in Bandung City. The Selection of respondents took simple random sampling. Mann-Whitney U-test, Kruskal-Wallis test and ANOVA were used to examine the effect of consumer demographics and consumer characteristics for food and store choice determinants. A total of 251 undergraduate students participated; 54.6% were Males (n=137) and 45.4% were Females (n=114). Most of respondents were Moslem (48.4%) or Christian (40.6%). “Calorieâ€, “Degree of Congestionâ€, and Atmosphere (interior and exterior) were less important when they choose food or store. Moslem respondents tend to care food nutrient compared to the other religions. The result of this study is the priority of choosing food and store by respondents and showed national difference by using previous related research. Keywords: Eating Behavior, Food Choice Determinants, Store Choice Determinants, Bandung City, Undergraduate Students.
