Enhanced mechanical properties and oxidation resistance of tungsten carbide-cobalt cemented carbides with aluminum nitride additions
Tungsten carbide-cobalt cermets respectively doped with 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2. wt% aluminum nitride were fabricated by the sintering process at 1400. °C. The existence of aluminum nitride in the binder phase could refine tungsten carbide grains and reinforce the obtained cermets. The cermets with 1.0. wt% aluminum nitride exhibited the higher hardness of 17.1. GPa and transverse rupture strength of 3120. MPa, compared with 15.6. GPa and 2500. MPa of the pure cermets. Owing to the addition of aluminum nitride, a high oxidation resistance was measured in cermets with 2.0. wt% aluminum nitride, which is nearly 1.9 times than that in the pure cermets
Direct fabrication of high-performance high speed steel products enhanced by LaB6
A direct fabrication technology (DFT) without smelting has been developed for fabricating sophisticated high speed steel products with low pollution, near-net shaping and short process. The steel consisting of (wt.%): 6.4W, 5.0Mo, 4.2Cr, 3.1V, 8.5Co and 1.28C, was fabricated as exemplary material. The activated and reactive sintering of green compacts under vacuum with low activation energy, redox reaction enhanced diffusion and the construction of concentration gradient of alloying elements around pores, promotes the nearly full densification (>\ua099.40%). Also, the DFT steels show high purity and superior mechanical properties. Minor strengthening agent LaB (0.1\ua0wt.%), which is easily to be accurately introduced in DFT, obviously increases the hot hardness, temper resistance, bend strength and toughness of DFT M3:2. The strengthening effect of boron atoms and La-rich complexes are proposed to directly result in the high hot hardness and temper resistance of LaB containing steel
Molecular Clouds in the Galactic Plane from = [59.75, 74.75] and = [5.25, +5.25]
In this paper we present the distribution of molecular gas in the Milky Way
Galactic plane from = [59.75, 74.75] and = [5.25,
+5.25], using the MWISP CO/CO/
emission line data. The molecular gas in this region can be mainly attributed
to the Local spur, Local arm, Perseus arm, and Outer arm. Statistics of the
physical properties of the molecular gas in each arm, such as excitation
temperature, optical depth, and column density, are presented. Using the DBSCAN
algorithm, we identified 15 extremely distant molecular clouds with kinematic
distances of 14.7217.77 kpc and masses of 363520 M, which we
find could be part of the Outer Scutum-Centaurus (OSC) arm identified by
\cite{2011ApJ...734L..24D} and \cite{2015ApJ...798L..27S}. It is also possible
that, 12 of these 15 extremely distant molecular clouds constitute an
independent structure between the Outer and the OSC arms or a spur. There exist
two Gaussian components in the vertical distribution of the molecular gas in
the Perseus spiral arm. These two Gaussian components correspond to two giant
filaments parallel to the Galactic plane. We find an upward warping of the
molecular gas in the Outer spiral arm with a displacement of around 270 pc with
respect to the Galactic mid-plane.Comment: 33 pages, 19 figure
Dual lactate clearance in the viability assessment of livers donated after circulatory death with ex situ normothermic machine perfusion
Perfusate lactate clearance (LC) is considered one of the useful indicators of liver viability assessment during normothermic machine perfusion (NMP); however, the applicable scope and potential mechanisms of LC remain poorly defined in the setting of liver donation after circulatory death.
Methods: The ex situ NMP of end-ischemic human livers was performed using the OrganOx Metra device. We further studied the extracellular signal-regulated kinases (phospho-extracellular signal-regulated kinase1/2 [pERK1/2]) pathway and several clinical parameters of these livers with successful LC (sLC, n = 5) compared with non-sLC (nLC, n = 5) in the perfusate (\u3c2.2 mmol/L at 2 h, n = 5, rapid retrieval without normothermic regional perfusion).
Results: We found the pERK1/2 level was substantially higher in the nLC livers than in the sLC livers (n = 5) at 2- and 6-h NMP (
Conclusions: The dual LC in perfusate and bile can be helpful in evaluating the hypoxic injury of hepatocytes and cholangiocytes during the NMP of donation after circulatory death in liver donors

The Importance of Learning Islamic History and Civilization of Malaysia in the Building of Human Capital and Identity of the Muslim Society in Malaysia
AbstractThe purpose of this research is to study the importance of learning Islamic History and Civilization in Malaysia for human capital building and identification of the muslim society in Malaysia. Its aim is to clarify the importance of this course, specifically at the Department of Arabic Studies and Islamic Civilization, and the need to produce graduates who are conversant in this field in order that they may utilise it in their lives regardless of whichever field they venture into. This study uses the library research method by analysis and evaluation with an argumentative as well as narrative approach. The results of study finds that knowledge and conversance in this field is integral in the formation of human capital and identity of the muslim society in Malaysia. Knowledge and conversance in this field would enable Malays to know the ‘true’ history of the muslim ummah in Malaysia. This knowledge is crucial to help them form and build a Malay-muslim generation in Malaysia, strongly attached to Malay traditions which have once brought the muslims to the pinnacle of success
