Inhibition of stimulated Raman scattering due to the excitation of stimulated Brillouin scattering

The nonlinear coupling between stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) and stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) of intense laser in underdense plasma is studied theoretically and numerically. Based upon the fluid model, their coupling equations are derived, and a threshold condition of plasma density perturbations due to SBS for the inhibition of SRS is given. Particle-in-cell simulations show that this condition can be achieved easily by SBS in the so-called fluid regime with kLλD<0.15, where kL is the Langmuir wave number and λD is the Debye length [Kline et al., Phys. Plasmas 13, 055906 (2006)]. SBS can reduce the saturation level of SRS and the temperature of electrons in both homogeneous and inhomogeneous plasma. Numerical simulations also show that this reduced SRS saturation is retained even if the fluid regime condition mentioned above is violated at a later time due to plasma heating

Room-temperature antiferromagnetic CrSe monolayer with tunable metal-insulator transition in ferroelectric heterostructures

Recently, there has been a rapidly growing interest in two-dimensional (2D) transition metal chalcogenide monolayers (MLs) due to their unique magnetic and electronic properties. By using an evolutionary algorithm and first-principles calculations, we report the discovery of a previously unexplored, chemically, energetically, and thermodynamically stable 2D antiferromagnetic (AFM) CrSe ML with a N\'eel temperature higher than room temperature. Remarkably, we predict an electric field-controllable metal-insulator transition (MIT) in a van der Waals (vdW) heterostructure comprised of CrSe ML and ferroelectric Sc2CO2. This tunable transition in CrSe/Sc2CO2 heterostructure is attributed to the change in the band alignment between CrSe and Sc2CO2 caused by the ferroelectric polarization reversal in Sc2CO2. Our findings suggest that 2D AFM CrSe ML has important potential applications in AFM spintronics, particularly in the gate voltage conducting channel.Comment: 13 Pages, 4 Figure

In the title compound, C18H19F3N2O7, the tetrahydropyridine ring adopts a half-chair conformation. The nitro group is disordered over two sites with occupancies of 0.780 (15) and 0.220 (15). An intramolecular N—H⋯F hydrogen bond is observed in the molecular structure. The molecules are linked into a two-dimensional network parallel to (100) by O—H⋯O, N—H⋯O and C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds

A Practical Guide for X-Ray Diffraction Characterization of Ga(Al, In)N Alloys

Ga(In, Al)N alloys are used as an active layer or cladding layer in light emitting diodes and laser diodes. x-ray diffraction is extensively used to evaluate the crystalline quality, the chemical composition and the residual strain in Ga(Al,In)N thin films, which directly determine the emission wavelength and the device performance. Due to the minor mismatch in lattice parameters between Ga(Al, In)N alloy and a GaN virtual substrate, x-ray diffraction comes to a problem to separate the signal from Ga(Al,In)N alloy and GaN. We give a detailed comparison on different diffraction planes. In order to balance the intensity and peak separation between Ga(Al,In)N alloy and GaN, (0004) and (1015) planes make the best choice for symmetric scan and asymmetric scan, respectively.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figure

One-Pot Synthesis of Bi/Fe3O4 and Its Catalytic Performances for 4-Nitrophenol Reduction

    Get PDF
A novel approach was successfully developed for the catalyst Bi-deposited Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles, which was used in the degradation of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP). The Bi/Fe3O4 composite was prepared via a one-pot process from ferrous sulfate and bismuth chloride using hydrazine hydrate as a reducing agent. The catalyst was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. In the composite pure Fe3O4 particles were synthesized and bismuth particles were well dispersed. The catalytic performances were investigated for the reduction of 4-NP with sodium borohydride. The catalyst has higher activity when Bi/Fe molar ratio is 1:4 in the composite and the rate constant k is about 0.611 min-1. The catalyst has good reusability which can be used 10 cycles without obvious deactivation. Furthermore, the catalyst can be easily separated by an external magnetic field.

Malignant mesenchymal tumor with leiomyosarcoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, chondrosarcoma, and osteosarcoma differentiation: case report and literature review

A case of malignant mesenchymoma of the bladder containing leiomyosarcoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, chondrosarcoma, osteosarcoma, and myxomatous components is described. The primary pedunculated tumor measuring 14 × 13 × 7 cm and weighing 343 g arose from the left trigone of the bladder and was treated by total cystectomy. The histogenesis of malignant mesenchymomas and their optimal management strategy and prognosis remain uncertain. Herein, we present the fifth case of malignant mesenchymoma of the urinary bladder to be reported in the literature, which presented five unrelated differentiated tissues more than did previously reported cases
