A Study on the Media Framework during Beijing Winter Olympic Games from a Comparative Perspective: Taking People’s Daily Online and CNN as Examples

Upon the conclusion of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games, the media coverage of this sports event of worldwide prestige has piled up as countless. However, the coverage of the Beijing Winter Olympics varies across countries, and it is up to different media to tailor and package the information to be delivered to the public according to their value standards, political tendencies, ideologies, etc. Based on a review of existing literature, this paper is devoted to the exploration of the underlying media framework of China and United States through a comparative study with a certain theoretical basis by taking their practices as examples to distinguish the choices made by these two countries on conducting both negative and positive reporting and their divergence in pursing either the “universal solidarity” or conflicts and divisions

Knowledge expand one’s life: Evidence from Chinese Science Scholars

    No full text
One of the solutions of healthcare may lie in the analysis of the longevity of scholars by probing the underlying reasons and determining factors. This study sets out to investigate the reasons why scholars in mathematics, physics, and chemistry generally live a longer and healthier life, and in particular, why longer than the common value, by compiling and analyzing data from information on those scholars. The society at large can learn from the research results of this paper which indicate that reading can, to a certain extent, lead to a long and a relatively healthy life

Factors that influence the health of mathematicians, physicists, and chemists: Data obtained from China

    No full text
Given the practical implications of looking into the health of scholars, it is of great priority to figure out the factors that are generally agreed to be the contributors to sustained health, to which end, this paper sets out to collect the mainstream insight into all possible influencing factors. Three research scheme are proposed in this paper under which basic personal information are collected first from 520 scholars in mathematics, physics, and chemistry for an analysis of their longevity performance via a comparison with common values under the demographic perspective to derive the raw longevity information of the scholars. Also, the ways they manage to maintain health are ascertained, on the basis of which the reasons for their sustained health are provided

The current research progress of ginseng species: The cultivation and application

    No full text
AbstractOf the 12 medicinal ginseng species, three species (Panax ginseng, P. quinquefolium, and P. notoginseng) are significant given their biological activities and hence are widely used around the world. These species have cardiovascular protection, improved immunomodulatory ability, antioxidant, anti-tumor, cholesterol-lowering, anti-inflammatory and other effects. Hence, such ginseng is used in various products (foods, health foods, daily necessities, cosmetics, etc.). However, ginseng cultivation causes replanting problems due to its allelopathic effects. This review provides a comprehensive insight into the allelopathic ginseng plant and analyzes the allelopathic effects on soil diseases and soil microorganisms for ginseng researchers. More in-depth research is needed to reveal the mechanisms of ginseng allelopathy

Advancing (U-Th)/He Zircon Dating: Novel Approaches in Sample Preparation and Uncertainty Reduction

The laser microprobe (U-Th)/He dating method is a new and efficient technique that utilizes an interoperable and integrated suite of instruments, including the excimer laser system, quadrupole helium mass spectrometer, and quadrupole inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer. To demonstrate the applicability of this new method, we applied both the conventional and laser microprobe techniques to the Sri Lanka zircon (LGC-1). We obtained twenty-two (U-Th)/He ages on nine shards using the laser microprobe method, showing an average (U-Th)/He age of 471.1 ± 16.6 Ma (1σ). This result is generally consistent with the mean conventional age (484.1 ± 9.6 Ma) for twenty-two zircon fragments. Both are nearly equal to the age value (~476 Ma) predicted by the He diffusion model and the thermal history model of Sri Lanka highland. The variations in the laser microprobe-derived ages are most likely caused by the uncertainties in volume measurements, which is also common in other studies. We used the Mahalanobis distance technique to reduce the volume measurement bias by identifying and eliminating abnormal data
