Achieving high efficiency laminated polymer solar cell with interfacial modified metallic electrode and pressure induced crystallization
We report efficient laminated organic photovoltaic device with efficiency approach the optimized device by regular method based on Poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) and [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM). The high efficiency is mainly attributed to the formation of a concrete polymer/metal interface mechanically and electrically by the use of electronic-glue, and using the highly conductive and flexible silver film as anode to reduce photovoltage loss and modifying its work function for efficiency hole extraction by ultraviolet/ozone treatment, and the pressure induced crystallization of PCBM

Diagnostics of reciprocating compressor fault based on a new envelope algorithm of empirical mode decomposition
Empirical mode decomposition (EMD), a self-adaptive time-frequency analysis methodology, is particularly suitable for processing the nonlinear and non-stationary time series, which can decompose a complicated signal into a series of intrinsic mode functions. Although it has the attractive features, the approach to construct the envelop-line in EMD has obvious shortcomings. A suggested improvement to EMD by adopting the optimized rational Hermite interpolation is proposed in this paper. In the proposed method, it adopts rational Hermite interpolation to compute the envelope-line, which has a shape controlling parameter compared with the cubic Hermite interpolation. In the meantime, one parameter determining criterion is introduced to guarantee the shape controlling parameter selection performs optimally. Besides the empirical envelope demodulation (EED) is introduced and utilized to analyze the IMFs derived from the improved EMD method. Hence, a new time-frequency method based on the optimized rational Hermite-based EMD combined with EED is proposed and the effectiveness was validated by the numerical simulations and an application to the reciprocating compressor fault diagnosis. The contributions of this paper are three aspects: Firstly, the definition of the best envelope is non-existent, some light is given about which envelope maybe better in this paper. Secondly, the optimal shape controlling parameter selection combined with rational Hermite interpolation is developed, leading to the significant performance enhancement. Thirdly, little research has been carried out on the fault diagnosis of the reciprocating compressor using EMD, the proposed method is a good start
Bearing fault diagnosis based on adaptive mutiscale fuzzy entropy and support vector machine
This paper proposes a new rolling bearing fault diagnosis method based on adaptive multiscale fuzzy entropy (AMFE) and support vector machine (SVM). Unlike existing multiscale Fuzzy entropy (MFE) algorithms, the scales of AMFE method are adaptively determined by using the robust Hermite-local mean decomposition (HLMD) method. AMFE method can be achieved by calculating the Fuzzy Entropy (FuzzyEn) of residual sums of the product functions (PFs) through consecutive removal of high-frequency components. Subsequently, the obtained fault features are fed into the multi-fault classifier SVM to automatically fulfill the fault patterns recognition. The experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the traditional MFE method for the nonlinear and non-stationary signal analysis, which can be applied to recognize the different categories of rolling bearings
NAIRS: A Neural Attentive Interpretable Recommendation System
In this paper, we develop a neural attentive interpretable recommendation
system, named NAIRS. A self-attention network, as a key component of the
system, is designed to assign attention weights to interacted items of a user.
This attention mechanism can distinguish the importance of the various
interacted items in contributing to a user profile. Based on the user profiles
obtained by the self-attention network, NAIRS offers personalized high-quality
recommendation. Moreover, it develops visual cues to interpret recommendations.
This demo application with the implementation of NAIRS enables users to
interact with a recommendation system, and it persistently collects training
data to improve the system. The demonstration and experimental results show the
effectiveness of NAIRS.Comment: This paper was published as a demonstration paper on WSDM'19. In this

Silica nanoparticles enhance autophagic activity, disturb endothelial cell homeostasis and impair angiogenesis
BACKGROUND: Given that the effects of ultrafine fractions (<0.1 μm) on ischemic heart diseases (IHD) and other cardiovascular diseases are gaining attention, this study is aimed to explore the influence of silica nanoparticles (SiNPs)-induced autophagy on endothelial cell homeostasis and angiogenesis. METHODS AND RESULTS: Ultrastructural changes of autophagy were observed in both vascular endothelial cells and pericytes in the heart of ICR mice by TEM. Autophagic activity and impaired angiogenesis were further confirmed by the immunohistochemistry staining of LC3 and VEGFR2. In addition, the immunohistochemistry results showed that SiNPs had an inhibitory effect on ICAM-1 and VCAM-1, but no obvious effect on E-selectin in vivo. The disruption of F-actin cytoskeleton occurred as an initial event in SiNPs-treated endothelial cells. The depolarized mitochondria, autophagic vacuole accumulation, LC3-I/LC3-II conversion, and the down-regulation of cellular adhesion molecule expression were all involved in the disruption of endothelial cell homeostasis in vitro. Western blot analysis indicated that the VEGFR2/PI3K/Akt/mTOR and VEGFR2/MAPK/Erk1/2/mTOR signaling pathway was involved in the cardiovascular toxicity triggered by SiNPs. Moreover, there was a crosstalk between the VEGFR2-mediated autophagy signaling and angiogenesis signaling pathways. CONCLUSIONS: In summary, the results demonstrate that SiNPs induce autophagic activity in endothelial cells and pericytes, subsequently disturb the endothelial cell homeostasis and impair angiogenesis. The VEGFR2-mediated autophagy pathway may play a critical role in maintaining endothelium and vascular homeostasis. Our findings may provide experimental evidence and explanation for cardiovascular diseases triggered by nano-sized particles. Nanoantennas Inversely Designed to Couple Free Space and a Metal–Insulator–Metal Waveguide
The metal–insulator–metal (MIM) waveguide, which can directly couple free space photons, acts as an important interface between conventional optics and subwavelength photoelectrons. The reason for the difficulty of this optical coupling is the mismatch between the large wave vector of the MIM plasmon mode and photons. With the increase in the wave vector, there is an increase in the field and Ohmic losses of the metal layer, and the strength of the MIM mode decreases accordingly. To solve those problems, this paper reports on inversely designed nanoantennas that can couple the free space and MIM waveguide and efficiently excite the MIM plasmon modes at multiple wavelengths and under oblique angles. This was achieved by implementing an inverse design procedure using a topology optimization approach. Simulation analysis shows that the coupling efficiency is enhanced 9.47-fold by the nanoantenna at the incident wavelength of 1338 nm. The topology optimization problem of the nanoantennas was analyzed by using a continuous adjoint method. The nanoantennas can be inversely designed with decreased dependence on the wavelength and oblique angle of the incident waves. A nanostructured interface on the subwavelength scale can be configured in order to control the refraction of a photonic wave, where the periodic unit of the interface is composed of two inversely designed nanoantennas that are decoupled and connected by an MIM waveguide
