Concurrent -vector fields and energy beta-change
The present paper deals with an \emph{intrinsic} investigation of the notion
of a concurrent -vector field on the pullback bundle of a Finsler manifold
. The effect of the existence of a concurrent -vector field on some
important special Finsler spaces is studied. An intrinsic investigation of a
particular -change, namely the energy -change
($\widetilde{L}^{2}(x,y)=L^{2}(x,y)+ B^{2}(x,y) with \
B:=g(\bar{\zeta},\bar{\eta})\bar{\zeta} \pi\Gamma\widetilde{\Gamma}\beta$-change of the fundamental linear connection in Finsler geometry: the
Cartan connection, the Berwald connection, the Chern connection and the
Hashiguchi connection. Moreover, the change of their curvature tensors is
concluded.
It should be pointed out that the present work is formulated in a prospective
modern coordinate-free form.Comment: 27 pages, LaTex file, Some typographical errors corrected, Some

Gravity theory in SAP-geometry
The aim of the present paper is to construct a field theory in the context of
absolute parallelism (Teleparallel) geometry under the assumption that the
canonical connection is semi-symmetric. The field equations are formulated
using a suitable Lagrangian first proposed by Mikhail and Wanas. The
mathematical and physical consequences arising from the obtained field
equations are investigated.Comment: 14 pages, References added and a reference updated, minor correction
Generalized -conformal change and special Finsler spaces
In this paper, we investigate the change of Finslr metrics which we refer to as a
generalized -conformal change. Under this change, we study some special
Finsler spaces, namely, quasi C-reducible, semi C-reducible, C-reducible,
-like, -like and -like Finsler spaces. We also obtain the
transformation of the T-tensor under this change and study some interesting
special cases. We then impose a certain condition on the generalized
-conformal change, which we call the b-condition, and investigate the
geometric consequences of such condition. Finally, we give the conditions under
which a generalized -conformal change is projective and generalize some
known results in the literature.Comment: References added, some modifications are performed, LateX file, 24

Flexible body dynamic stability for high performance aircraft
Dynamic equations which include the effects of unsteady aerodynamic forces and a flexible body structure were developed for a free flying high performance fighter aircraft. The linear and angular deformations are assumed to be small in the body reference frame, allowing the equations to be linearized in the deformation variables. Equations for total body dynamics and flexible body dynamics are formulated using the hybrid coordinate method and integrated in a state space format. A detailed finite element model of a generic high performance fighter aircraft is used to generate the mass and stiffness matrices. Unsteady aerodynamics are represented by a rational function approximation of the doublet lattice matrices. The equations simplify for the case of constant angular rate of the body reference frame, allowing the effect of roll rate to be studied by computing the eigenvalues of the system. It is found that the rigid body modes of the aircraft are greatly affected by introducing a constant roll rate, while the effect on the flexible modes is minimal for this configuration
Fuzzy Simulated Evolution Algorithm for Topology Design on Campus Networks
The topology design of campus networks is a hard contrained combinatorial optimization problem. It consists of deciding the number, type, and location of the active network elements (nodes) and links. This choice is dictated by physical and technological constraints and must optimize several objectives. Example of objectives are monetary cost, network delay, and hop count between communicating pairs. Furthermore, due to the nondeterministic nature of network traffic and other design parameters, the objectives criteria are imprecise. Fuzzy logic provides a suitable mathematical framework in such a situation. In this paper, we present an approach based on Simulated Evolution algorithm for the design of campus network topology. The two main phases of the algorithm, namely evaluation and allocation, have been fuzzified. To diversify the search, we have also incorporated Tabu Search-based characteristics in the allocation phase of the SE algorithm. This approach is then compared with Simulated Anealing algorithm, which is another well-known heuristic. Results show that on all test cases, Simulated Evolution algorithm more intelligent search of the solutions subspace and was able to find better solutions than Simulated Anealing
Magnetic resonance spectroscopy of perpendicularly magnetized permalloy multilayer disks
Using a Magnetic Resonance Force Microscope, we compare the ferromagnetic
resonance spectra of individual micron-size disks with identical diameter, 1
m, but different layer structures. For a disk composed of a single 43.3 nm
thick permalloy (Py) layer, the lowest energy mode in the perpendicular
configuration is the uniform precession. The higher energy modes are standing
spin-waves confined along the diameter of the disk. For a Cu(30)/Py(100)/Cu(30)
nm multilayer structure, it has been interpreted that the lowest energy mode
becomes a precession localized at the Cu/Py interfaces. When the multilayer is
changed to Py(100)/Cu(10)/Py(10) nm, this localized mode of the thick layer is
coupled to the precession of the thin layer
Fixed drug eruption induced by atenolol
Fixed drug eruption (FDE) is characterized by recurrent well-defined lesions in the same location each time the responsible drug is taken. We report here a case of multiple FDE induced by atenolol in a 48-year-old woman confirmed by positive patch test in previously affected sites. Beta-blockers-induced FDE are very rare. Only two cases had been reported in the literature. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case reported of atenolol-induced FDE confirmed by a positive patch test
Improving the Representation and Conversion of Mathematical Formulae by Considering their Textual Context
Mathematical formulae represent complex semantic information in a concise
form. Especially in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics,
mathematical formulae are crucial to communicate information, e.g., in
scientific papers, and to perform computations using computer algebra systems.
Enabling computers to access the information encoded in mathematical formulae
requires machine-readable formats that can represent both the presentation and
content, i.e., the semantics, of formulae. Exchanging such information between
systems additionally requires conversion methods for mathematical
representation formats. We analyze how the semantic enrichment of formulae
improves the format conversion process and show that considering the textual
context of formulae reduces the error rate of such conversions. Our main
contributions are: (1) providing an openly available benchmark dataset for the
mathematical format conversion task consisting of a newly created test
collection, an extensive, manually curated gold standard and task-specific
evaluation metrics; (2) performing a quantitative evaluation of
state-of-the-art tools for mathematical format conversions; (3) presenting a
new approach that considers the textual context of formulae to reduce the error
rate for mathematical format conversions. Our benchmark dataset facilitates
future research on mathematical format conversions as well as research on many
problems in mathematical information retrieval. Because we annotated and linked
all components of formulae, e.g., identifiers, operators and other entities, to
Wikidata entries, the gold standard can, for instance, be used to train methods
for formula concept discovery and recognition. Such methods can then be applied
to improve mathematical information retrieval systems, e.g., for semantic
formula search, recommendation of mathematical content, or detection of
mathematical plagiarism.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figure
