Conditions for Generic Initial Ideals to be Almost Reverse Lexicographic

Let II be a homogeneous Artinian ideal in a polynomial ring R=k[x1,...,xn]R=k[x_1,...,x_n] over a field kk of characteristic 0. We study an equivalent condition for the generic initial ideal \gin(I) with respect to reverse lexicographic order to be almost reverse lexicographic. As a result, we show that Moreno-Socias conjecture implies Fr\"{o}berg conjecture. And for the case \Codim I \le 3, we show that R/IR/I has the strong Lefschetz property if and only if \gin(I) is almost reverse lexicographic. Finally for a monomial complete intersection Artinian ideal I=(x1d1,...,xndn)I=(x_1^{d_1},...,x_n^{d_n}), we prove that \gin(I) is almost reverse lexicographic if di>j=1i1dji+1d_i > \sum_{j=1}^{i-1} d_j - i + 1 for each i4i \ge 4. Using this, we give a positive partial answer to Moreno-Socias conjecture, and to Fr\"{o}berg conjecture.Comment: 10 page

Inverse Systems of Zero-dimensional Schemes in P^n

The authors construct the global Macaulay inverse system for a zero-dimensional subscheme Z of projective n-space P^n, from the local inverse systems of the irreducible components of Z. They show that when Z is locally Gorenstein a generic homogeneous form F of degree d apolar to Z determines Z when d is larger than an invariant b(Z). They also show that a natural upper bound for the Hiilbert function of Gorenstein Artin quotient of the coordinate ring is achieved for large socle degree. They show the uniqueness of generalized additive decompositions of a homogeneous form F into powers of linear forms, under suitable hypotheses. They include many examples.Comment: 38 p. The Evaluation of the Body Weight Lowering Effects of Herbal Extract THI on Exercising Healthy Overweight Humans: A Randomized Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial

We investigated the effects of herbal extracts, a mixture of Scutellariae Radix and Platycodi Radix containing the active ingredients Baicalin and Saponin (target herbal ingredient (THI)), on lowering body weight. The present study was a prospective, randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled trial carried out at the outpatient department of a hospital over a period of 2 months. Group 1 patients (n=30) received THI, and group 2 patients (n=23) received placebo three times a day before meals. Weight, waist circumference, BMI, total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and glucose were measured at baseline and again at the 2nd month. For safety evaluation, various hematological and biochemical parameters were assessed. Values of mean change of weight in the THI-treated group were −1.16±1.41 kg and in the placebo-treated group were −0.24±1.70 kg, respectively. The difference in mean change of weight in the THI-treated group compared with that in the placebo-treated group was statistically significant (P<0.05). The incidence of subjective and objective adverse drug reactions was insignificant (P>0.05). THI was statistically significant in its effectiveness on the weight loss

How Social Media Communications can Mitigate Negative Impacts of Corporate Social Irresponsibility on Corporate Financial Performance?

Previous research on corporate social responsibility (CSR) has focused on corporate reputation (CR) and corporate financial performance (CFP), showing a high correlation between both. While most researchers primarily focus on CSR, our research examines the other side of the coin; corporate social irresponsibility (CSI) and provides findings that counter previous thought. We contribute to the existing literature by showing that CSI has a non-significant impact on corporate financial performance, as measured by market value, while concurrently being negatively correlated to corporate reputation. Further, we show social media, as measured by the Social Media Sustainability Index (SMSI), a measure studied infrequently thus far in the literature, mediates the relationship between CSI and market value. This relationship between social media and financial performance is further strengthened when companies actively engage in other CSR activities that “fit” their image. From a practical standpoint, when companies “misbehave” our research reveals how to mitigate those effects in regards to financial performance

University-based enterprise (UBE) system has been adopted and implemented in diverse fields focusing on practice-based learning. The aim of the presentation is to introduce the UBE system integrated into product development course and active collaborations with regional government and other companies to enhance students’ practical abilities. Presented are the UBE system and two cases utilizing the system for product development education

Online home appliance control using EEG-Based brain-computer interfaces

    Get PDF
Brain???computer interfaces (BCIs) allow patients with paralysis to control external devices by mental commands. Recent advances in home automation and the Internet of things may extend the horizon of BCI applications into daily living environments at home. In this study, we developed an online BCI based on scalp electroencephalography (EEG) to control home appliances. The BCI users controlled TV channels, a digital door-lock system, and an electric light system in an unshielded environment. The BCI was designed to harness P300 andN200 components of event-related potentials (ERPs). On average, the BCI users could control TV channels with an accuracy of 83.0% ?? 17.9%, the digital door-lock with 78.7% ?? 16.2% accuracy, and the light with 80.0% ?? 15.6% accuracy, respectively. Our study demonstrates a feasibility to control multiple home appliances using EEG-based BCIs
