An application of adjoint ideal sheaves to injectivity and extension theorems
This note reviews the authors' approach to Fujino's conjecture, i.e.~the
injectivity theorem for lc pairs on compact K\"ahler manifolds, via the use of
adjoint ideal sheaves coupled with the associated residue computations in their
previous work. Using only the techniques and results obtained from that study
and under a slightly stronger positivity assumption, a ``qualitative''
extension result is obtained. Such extension result guarantees the existence of
a global holomorphic extension of any holomorphic section on some
-lc centres of the given lc pair. The extension can be shown to
take values in the corresponding adjoint ideal sheaf, even though it comes
without any estimate of in terms of . Moreover, the proof invokes
and implies no vanishing theorem in general.Comment: 13 page
Simultaneous deletion of floxed genes mediated by CaMKIIa-Cre in the brain and in male germ cells: application to conditional and conventional disruption of Go-alfa
The Cre/LoxP system is a well-established approach to spatially and temporally control genetic inactivation. The calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II alpha subunit (CaMKIIα) promoter limits expression to specific regions of the forebrain and thus has been utilized for the brain-specific inactivation of the genes. Here, we show that CaMKIIα-Cre can be utilized for simultaneous inactivation of genes in the adult brain and in male germ cells. Double transgenic Rosa26+/stop-lacZ::CaMKIIα-Cre+/Cre mice generated by crossing CaMKIIα-Cre+/Cre mice with floxed ROSA26 lacZ reporter (Rosa26+/stop-lacZ) mice exhibited lacZ expression in the brain and testis. When these mice were mated to wild-type females, about 27% of the offspring were whole body blue by X-gal staining without inheriting the Cre transgene. These results indicate that recombination can occur in the germ cells of male Rosa26+/stop-lacZ::CaMKIIα-Cre+/Cre mice. Similarly, when double transgenic Gnao+/f::CaMKIIα-Cre+/Cre mice carrying a floxed Go-alpha gene (Gnaof/f) were backcrossed to wild-type females, approximately 22% of the offspring carried the disrupted allele (GnaoΔ) without inheriting the Cre transgene. The GnaoΔ/Δ mice closely resembled conventional Go-alpha knockout mice (Gnao−/−) with respect to impairment of their behavior. Thus, we conclude that CaMKIIα-Cre mice afford recombination for both tissue- and time-controlled inactivation of floxed target genes in the brain and for their permanent disruption. This work also emphasizes that extra caution should be exercised in utilizing CaMKIIα-Cre mice as breeding pairs.Fil: Choi, Chan-Il. Ajou University. An injectivity theorem on snc compact K\"ahler spaces: an application of the theory of harmonic integrals on log-canonical centers via adjoint ideal sheaves
Let be a log-canonical (lc) pair, in which is a compact K\"ahler
manifold and is a reduced snc divisor, and let be a holomorphic line
bundle on equipped with a smooth metric . Via the use
of the adjoint ideal sheaves (constructed from and ) and the
associated residue morphisms, sections of on
(as well as those of on ) can be related to
the -valued holomorphic top-forms on each lc center of by an
inductive use of a certain residue exact sequence derived from the adjoint
ideal sheaves. The theory of harmonic integrals is valid on each lc center
(which is compact K\"ahler), so this provides a pathway to apply the techniques
in harmonic theory to the possibly singular K\"ahler space . To illustrate
the use of such apparatus in problems concerning lc pairs, we prove a
Koll\'ar-type injectivity theorem for the cohomology on when is
semi-positive. This in turn also solves the conjecture by Fujino on the
injectivity theorem for the compact K\"ahler lc pair , providing an
alternative proof of a recent result by Cao and P\u{a}un.Comment: 30 page
Antinociceptive and Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Ethanolic Extracts of Glycine max (L.) Merr and Rhynchosia nulubilis Seeds
The aim of this study was to assess the in vivo potential of ethanolic extracts of Glycine max (L.) Merr. (SoRiTae) and Rhynchosia nulubilis (Yak-Kong) seeds as natural anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory agents. To assess the anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory potential, the ethanolic extracts of SoRiTae and Yak-Kong seeds were tested in arachidonic acid-induced ear edema, carrageenan induced paw edema, formalin-induced licking time, acetic acid induced writhing and hot plate-induced thermal stimulation in mice. The administration of ethanolic extracts of SoRiTae and Yak-Kong seeds evoked a significant effect of anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities as compared to standards aminopyrine and indomethacin. The ear edema, paw edema, paw licking time, pain and writhes in mice were significantly reduced (p < 0.05) as compared to the control. The results obtained in this study indicate that both SoRiTae and Yak-Kong soybeans possesses potential anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities
Effect of preoperative statin therapy on myocardial protection and morbidity endpoints following off-pump coronary bypass surgery in patients with elevated C-reactive protein level
BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of preoperative statin therapy on myocardial protection and morbidity endpoints following off-pump coronary bypass graft surgery (OPCAB) in patients with elevated serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels.
METHODS: Of the 492 patients who underwent multivessel OPCAB from March 2007 to February 2009, the records of 144 patients whose baseline hs-CRP level > 2 mg/L were reviewed. According to the history of preoperative statin therapy for at least one week, patients were classified as either statin group or control group (72 subjects each). Preoperative and operative characteristics and postoperative data including troponin (Tn)-T level and major morbidity endpoints were obtained and compared. Major morbidity endpoints were defined as permanent stroke, renal dysfunction, hemostatic re-exploration, deep sternal wound infection, and the number of patients requiring prolonged ventilation.
RESULTS: Preoperative and operative characteristics were similar between the two groups. There were no significant differences in the incidence of morbidity endpoints between the two groups, except for the number of patients requiring dialysis, which was significantly lower in the statin group (8 vs. 1, P = 0.033). Tn-T level at 24 h after surgery was also significantly lower in the statin group.
CONCLUSIONS: In this study, we observed beneficial effects of preoperative statin therapy for at least one week in terms of less myocardial enzyme release and fewer patients requiring dialysis following OPCAB in patients whose preoperative hs-CRP was elevatedope
LHC Signature of Mirage Mediation
We study LHC phenomenology of mirage mediation scenario in which anomaly and
modulus contributions to soft SUSY breaking terms are comparable to each other.
A Monte Carlo study of mirage mediation, with model parameters , GeV, , and , is presented. It is
shown that masses of supersymmetric particles can be measured in a model
independent way, providing information on SUSY breaking sector. In particular,
the mass ratio of gluino to the lightest neutralino for the benchmark scenario
is determined to be 1.9 \lesssim m_{\tildeg}/m_{\tilde\chi_1^0} \lesssim 3.1,
well reproducing theoretical input value of which is quite distinctive from the predictions of other SUSY scenarios in which gaugino
masses are unified at the GUT scale. The model parameters of mirage mediation
can be also determined from various kinematic distributions
