    WRITING MATERIAL FOR OFFICE ADMINISTRATION STUDY PROGRAM IN VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL: STUDENTS’ NEED ANALYSIS

    Vocational High School is course with aim to prepare the students to have specific skills by having practical activities based on its study program. It has the same purpose with English for specific purposes (ESP) course which aims to meet the students’ specific language need. ESP courses help students to use English appropriately as well as accurately to perform their jobs in a various situations where they encounter their English language function. ESP course often begins with the students’ need. Students’ need analysis is needed to be identified to be able to meet the effective learning material based on what the students really need. This study aims to investigate the writing materials needs of eleventh grade students of Office Administration study program in Vocational High School from viewpoints of students. This study used descriptive qualitative analysis with questionnaire and interview method to collect the data. The subjects of the research were eleventh grade of Office Administration students that consisted of 34 students by using purposive sampling. The result indicated that the students have several needs in terms of target needs and learning needs. Target needs are divided into necessities, wants, and lacks. Based on the result of target needs, the students are lack of component of writing skills including express ideas, write with correct organization, use correct grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and spelling, and use appropriate vocabulary based on the context of the text. Thus, the students need and want to learn those components of writing skills. Meanwhile, learning needs are divided into input, procedure, setting, and accessibility. The input is divided into content of materials, activities, and design. The teachers should pay attention more on those aspects to fulfill the students’ need to help them transition successfully to their future careers after graduation

    Designing Micstraw Task on Giving Direction to Support Tblt in Teaching Speaking

    This research was conducted to: formulate the procedures of teaching speaking that the students need in procedure text; design a Micstraw task to encourage the students to speak about the procedures of how to create something in English; and know the experts\u27 perceptions whether the design of a Micstraw task is meaningful, interesting and contextual or not to encourage the seventh grade students to speak about the procedures of how to create something in English. This research was carried out at seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Siantan in academic year 2015/2016.This research is a development research which consists of four phases; analyze, design, develop, and evaluate. The need analysis obtained the information that the students need teaching procedures which are meaningful, interesting and contextual in teaching speaking about the procedures of how to create something. The design of a Micstraw task explained the task designing and task developing. The result of evaluation was 3.25 which was categorized as good. It convinced that a Micstraw task is meaningful, interesting and contextual to be used but it still needs little revision

    Salah satu flora normal yang terdapat di dalam rongga mulut adalah Staphylococcus aureus. Staphylococcus aureus dapat menjadi patogen ketika pada kondisi pH, temperatur dan nutrisi yang menguntungkan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus untuk tumbuh. Staphylococcus aureus dapat meyebabkan berbagai infeksi baik dari dalam mulut maupun dibagian lain yang bersumber dari dalam mulut. Propolis adalah salah satu obat alami yang terkandung bahan aktif seperti flavonoid, asam kafeat, asam benzoat dan asam sinamat yang dapat mencegah tumbuhnya bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengetahui Konsentrasi Hambat Minimum (KHM) propolis yang dapat membunuh bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Penelitian ini menggunakan 26 sampel uji. Propolis yang telah dikonsentrasikan masing-masing dicampurkan dan biakan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus kemudian dibiakan dalam media nutrient broth. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di laboratorium Fakultas Teknologi Hasil Pertanian Universitas Andalas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, Konsentrasi Hambat Minimum (KHM) propolis yang dapat membunuh Staphylococcus aureus terdapat pada konsentrasi 4% dimana tabung terlihat jernih yang berarti tidak terdapat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Sn.   Kata Kunci: Iklan Layanan Masyarakat, Narkoba, Motion Graphic, Remaja   Narkoba merupakan bahan atau obat-obatan yang berbahaya apabila disalahgunakan. Narkoba saat ini sudah menjadi masalah yang serius dan membawa Indonesia dalam keadaan darurat. Jumlah penyalahgunaan untuk usia remaja saat ini juga banyak. Hal ini disebabkan psikologis remaja yang masih belum stabil sehingga mudah terpengaruh oleh lingkungan sekitarnya. Pengaruh narkoba pada remaja bahkan dapat berakibat lebih fatal karena menghambat perkembangan kepribadiannya. Pemerintah saat ini sedang melaksanakan gerakan rehabilitasi 100.000 penyalahguna. Dalam pelaksanaan gerakan tersebut, pemerintah melakukan sosialisasi ke berbagai daerah untuk menumbuhkan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap bahaya narkoba dan penanganan terhadap penyalahguna narkoba. Perancangan ini bertujuan memberikan informasi kepada masyarakat khususnya remaja tentang jenis narkoba, dampak penyalahgunaan narkoba dan penanganan atau rehabilitasi terhadap penyalahguna narkoba. Informasi tersebut dikemas dalam bentuk motion graphic dengan ikon-ikon dan animasi sederhana yang mempermudah remaja untuk menerima pesan secara visual. Perancangan ini menggunakan metode prosedural yang menggariskan langkah-langkah untuk menghasilkan produk. Metode ini diawali dengan latar belakang, tujuan perancangan, pengumpulan data pustaka dan data lapangan, identifikasi data, analisis, sintesis, perancangan media, proses produksi, dan hasil desain.  Dari perancangan ini, dihasilkan media utama berupa “Iklan Layanan Masyarakat tentang Narkoba Berbasis Motion Graphic” yang memberikan informasi tentang jenis narkoba, dampak penyalahgunaan narkoba, dan penanganan atau rehabilitasi terhadap penyalahguna narkoba.
