Simultaneous determination of nine phenolic compounds in imitation wild Dendrobium officinale samples using ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatographyâtandem mass spectrometry
Dendrobium officinale Kimura et Migo (D. officinale), one of the nine everlasting types of grass, has gained increasing attention owing to its important roles in alternative medicines and drug discovery. Due to its natural resources being in danger of being extinct, imitation wild planting is becoming increasingly common. To assess the productâs quality completely, an efficient ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-QQQ-MS/MS) method was established to simultaneously quantify nine phenolic compounds in D. officinale samples. The extraction parameters, including solvent, solvent concentration, solidâliquid ratio, and extraction time, were systematically optimized with the single-factor test. The results demonstrated that extraction with a 1:200 solid-to-liquid ratio of 80% methanol for 1.5âh was the most efficient condition for the extraction of flavonoids. Satisfactory retention times and resolution of the nine analytes were acquired on the Thermo Scientific Hypersil GOLD column with multiple reaction monitoring in negative ion scanning mode. The method was validated to demonstrate its selectivity, linearity, precision, accuracy, and robustness. Thus, the verified UHPLC-QQQ-MS/MS method was successfully applied to the quantification of phenolic components present in D. officinale samples. The results indicated that the quantity and composition of phenolic components in D. officinale from various provenances were significantly different. This work provides a theoretical foundation for the cultivation and assessment of wild D. officinale quality
Multidifferential study of identified charged hadron distributions in -tagged jets in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV
Jet fragmentation functions are measured for the first time in proton-proton
collisions for charged pions, kaons, and protons within jets recoiling against
a boson. The charged-hadron distributions are studied longitudinally and
transversely to the jet direction for jets with transverse momentum 20 GeV and in the pseudorapidity range . The
data sample was collected with the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy
of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.64 fb. Triple
differential distributions as a function of the hadron longitudinal momentum
fraction, hadron transverse momentum, and jet transverse momentum are also
measured for the first time. This helps constrain transverse-momentum-dependent
fragmentation functions. Differences in the shapes and magnitudes of the
measured distributions for the different hadron species provide insights into
the hadronization process for jets predominantly initiated by light quarks.Comment: All figures and tables, along with machine-readable versions and any

in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of TeV
using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5
collected by the LHCb experiment. In the system, the
state observed at the BaBar and Belle experiments is
resolved into two narrower states, and ,
whose masses and widths are measured to be where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second
systematic. The results are consistent with a previous LHCb measurement using a
prompt sample. Evidence of a new
state is found with a local significance of , whose mass and width
are measured to be and , respectively. In addition, evidence of a new decay mode
is found with a significance of
. The relative branching fraction of with respect to the
decay is measured to be , where the first
uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third originates from

integrated luminosity recorded by the LHCb experiment during 2011 and 2012. The

measurements is . Results are consistent with the current average

Observations on Detonation Growth of Lead Azide at Microscale
Lead azide (LA) is a commonly used primary explosive, the detonation growth of which is difficult to study because it is so sensitive and usually has a small charge size in applications. We used photon Doppler velocimetry (PDV) and calibrated polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) gauges to reveal the detonation growth in LA, which was pressed in the confinements with controlled heights. The particle-velocity profiles, output pressure, unsteady detonation velocity, reaction time, and reaction-zone width were obtained and analyzed. Three phases of detonation propagation of LA microcharges are discussed. The volume reactions occur at the beginning of detonation in LA microcharges without forming complete shock profiles. Then the shock front is fast with a slow chemistry reaction zone, which is compressed continuously between the height of 0.8 mm and 2.5 mm. Finally, the steady detonation is built at a height of 2.5 mm. The stable detonation velocity and CJ pressure are 4726 ± 8 m/s and 17.12 ± 0.22 GPa. Additionally, the stable reaction zone time and width are 44 ± 7 ns and 148 ± 11 Όm. The detailed detonation process has not previously been quantified in such a small geometry
The distribution of myeloid-derived suppressor cells subsets and up-regulation of programmed death-1/PD-L1 axis in peripheral blood of adult CAP patients.
BackgroundMyeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) have been reported to expand and have a potent ability in the expansion of regulatory T cells in malignant and infectious disease. The current study was performed to investigate the role of MDSCs and possible immune mechanisms in dampening immune responses of community acquired pneumonia (CAP).MethodsThis was a single-center cross-sectional study. The distribution of MDSCs subsets, the PD-1/PD-L1(L2) level of MDSCs subsets and Tregs in the peripheral blood of adult CAP patients and healthy control were measured by flow cytometry analysis.ResultsPeripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from 63 adult CAP patients contained an elevated frequency of both G-MDSC (4.92±0.30 vs 2.25±0.21,pConclusionsIn summary, the significant expansion of circulating MDSCs subsets and the up-regulated expression of PD-1/PD-L1 level in CAP patients may suggest the possible involvement of PD-1/PD-L1axis in MDSCs mediated immune regulation on Treg at least partially in CAP patients
