    Holographic Mutual Information of Two Disjoint Spheres

    We study quantum corrections to holographic mutual information for two disjoint spheres at a large separation by using the operator product expansion of the twist field. In the large separation limit, the holographic mutual information is vanishing at the semiclassical order, but receive quantum corrections from the fluctuations. We show that the leading contributions from the quantum fluctuations take universal forms as suggested from the boundary CFT. We find the universal behavior for the scalar, the vector, the tensor and the fermionic fields by treating these fields as free fields propagating in the fixed background and by using the 1/n prescription. In particular, for the fields with gauge symmetries, including the massless vector boson and massless graviton, we find that the gauge parts in the propagators play indispensable role in reading the leading order corrections to the bulk mutual information.Comment: 37 pages, 1 figure; significant revisions, corrected the discussions on the computations of the mutual information in CFT, conclusions unchange

    EFFECTS OF 6-WEEK TRAMPOLINE TRAINING ON DYNAMIC BALANCE PERFORMANCE

    The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of trampoline training on dynamic balance performance in healthy, young males and females. Twenty-six participants were randomised into two groups: Trampoline Training (TT, n = 13) and Resistance Training (RT, n = 13). Participants underwent a 6-week intervention programe 2 times per week, and performed either trampoline or classical resistance training. Dynamic balance performance was assessed before and after the intervention using the Y Balance TestTM. Mixed model Analysis of Variance was applied to examine the effects of training and group. Results showed that across all participants, balance scores increased after training for both left and right legs (p \u3c .05) but did not differ between the TT and RT groups. In conclusion, trampoline training is as effective as classical resistance training in improving dynamic balance performance in young, healthy individuals

    The title complex, [Mn(C6H5N2O4)2(H2O)2], was obtained by hydro­thermal synthesis. The MnII atom, which lies on an inversion centre, displays a slightly distorted octa­hedral geometry. In the crystal packing, complex mol­ecules are linked by inter­molecular O—H⋯O and N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds to form a three-dimensional supramolecular structure.     Inhibitory effects of total saponins from Ilex pubescens Hook against hydrogen peroxide-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis

    Purpose: To study the protective effects of total saponins from Ilex pubescens Hook (IPTS) against cardiomyocyte apoptosis.Methods: Response surface methodology (RSM) based on Box-Benhnken Design (BBD) was carried out to optimize the extraction of IPTS. Thereafter, H9c2 cell model prepared by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) treatment was used to investigate the effects of IPTS on cardiomyocyte apoptosis. Cell viability was determined using MTT assay, while the levels of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD), creatine kinase (CK) and catalase (CAT) were measured as indices of oxidative stress. Expressions of proteins related to apoptosis (caspase-3, Bax and Bcl-2) were measured using Western blot assay.Results: Optimal IPTS extraction was achieved with extraction temperature of 86.6 °C, extraction time of 2.23 h and water: raw material ratio of 10.8 mL/g. IPTS extract, at doses of 200, 400, 600 and 800 μg/mL, significantly increased the viability of H2O2-treated H9c2 cells (p < 0.05), but significantly decreased LDH and CK activities (p < 0.01). It also led to significant increases in SOD and CAT activities, and significant decreases in the levels of MDA in these cells (p < 0.01). There were significant down-regulation of the protein expressions of caspase-3 and Bax (p < 0.01) in IPTS-treated H9c2 cells, as well as significant up-regulation of Bcl-2 protein expression (p < 0.01).Conclusion: These results suggest that IPTS can protect cardiomyocytes against apoptosis via the inhibition of oxidative stress and mitochondria-induced intrinsic apoptosis.Keywords: Ilex pubescens, Total saponins, Cardiomyocytes, Apoptosis, H9c2 cell

    Anti-proliferation and induced mitochondria-mediated apoptosis of ganoderic acid Mk from Ganoderma lucidum mycelia in cervical cancer HeLa cells

    Ganoderic acid Mk (GA-Mk), a triterpenoid acid, was isolated from the mycelia of Ganoderma lucidum, and no biological activity of GA-Mk has ever been reported. In this work, we investigated the effect of GA-Mk on the cell proliferation and apoptosis in HeLa cells. The MTT results demonstrated that GA-Mk displayed interesting cytotoxicity toward various human cancer cell lines. Bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) incorporation assay showed that GA-Mk had a dose-dependent inhibitory effect on proliferation of HeLa cells. The flow cytometry analysis indicated that the treatment of HeLa cells with GA-Mk increased the rate of early and late apoptotic cells in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, GA-Mk inducing apoptosis was in association with the burst of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS), the decrease of the mitochondrial membrane potential and the increase of caspase-3 and caspase-9 activities. These results demonstrated that GA-Mk was efficiently anti-proliferative and could induce apoptosis of HeLa cells by mitochondria-mediated pathway, and it may serve as a promising candidate for the treatment of cervical cancer.Colegio de Farmacéuticos de la Provincia de Buenos Aire

    The 1126 Ma volcanic event in the Dechang Area, SW Yangtze Block, and its significance

    Traditionally, the strata of the Luonie Valley, Dechang County, SW Sichuan, China, are considered to contain a suite of felsic volcanic rocks (the Huili Group) that erupted after c. 1050 Ma. However, we report here new age constraints, elemental and Lu–Hf isotope geochemistry for a different suite of older basaltic agglomerate lava, basaltic tuff lava and basalt from the same area, which we name the Luonie Formation. New dating results show that the basaltic volcanic suite of the upper part of the Luonie Formation formed at 1126.1 ± 9.9 Ma, significantly earlier than deposition of the Huili Group, but comparable in age to the 1142 ± 16 Ma Laowushan Formation in central Yunnan Province. Granite intrusion into the Luonie Formation dated 1050.7 ± 12.7 Ma provides crucial supporting evidence for this earlier depositional age. We also report a maximum sedimentary age of c. 1158 Ma for the underlying arkose, implying stratigraphic conformity with the basaltic volcanic rock suite. The ϵHf(t) values of the basaltic volcanic rocks are mainly positive, indicating that the rocks are mainly derived from the depleted mantle and slightly stained by crustal materials. The characteristics of P*, Nb* and Zr* anomalies also support this view. The distribution patterns of trace and rare earth elements indicate that the basaltic volcanic rocks formed in an extensional setting. The Zr/4–Y–2Nb and Th–Nb/16–Zr/117 discrimination diagrams also provide evidence for this understanding. Lithofacies analysis shows that basaltic volcanic wrocks with the characteristics of both continental and marine facies should be formed in a littoral–neritic environment. We propose here that the evidence is consistent with a phase of continental extension that preceded the convergence of the SW Yangtze Block to form part of Rodinia

    Purpose: To investigate the spectrum-effect relationships between high performance liquid chromatography with photodiode array detection (HPLC-DAD) fingerprint and analgesic activity of Anisodus tanguticus (Maxim.) Pascher (Solanaceae) (AT)  roots.Methods: Analgesic activity of AT roots was evaluated by acetic acid-induced writhing test in mice. Fingerprint of AT roots was established by HPLC-DAD. After oral administration of AT roots extract, intra-gastric contents of caffeoylputrescine, anisodine, fabiatrin, scopolin, scopolamine, anisodamine and atropine in mice were determined by HPLC-DAD. Spectrum-effect relationships between HPLCDAD fingerprint and analgesic activity were investigated using bivariate correlation analysis.Results: Following treatment with different batches of AT roots extract, acetic acid-induced writhing responses in mice were inhibited significantly (p < 0.05 or 0.01), with inhibitions of 26.62 - 55.13 %, relative to the control group. Sixteen common peaks were obtained by fingerprint analysis. Peaks 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12 were identified as caffeoylputrescine, anisodine, fabiatrin, scopolin, scopolamine, anisodamine and atropine, respectively. Bivariate correlation analysis between analgesic activity of AT roots and 16 common peaks areas indicated the  contributions of 16 common peaks to analgesic activity of AT roots. Surprisingly, bivariate correlation analysis between analgesic activity of AT roots and intragastric contents of above-named 7 constituents revealed that the contributions of the 7 constituents to analgesic activity of AT roots were different from those based on their peak areas.Conclusion: This study provides scientific justification for the investigation of the active constituents of AT root with a view to its standardization.Keywords: Anisodus tanguticus root, Analgesic activity, HPLC-DAD fingerprint,  Bivariate correlation analysi
