This book is arranged and developed around the theme of “2050 China,” it analyzes the factors and advantages of the Chinese road to socialist modernization, explores and summarizes the development goal and the basic logic of the socialist modernization of China, and further shows the general basis of the primary stage of socialism. According to the report delivered at the 19th Party Congress, and according to the “two-stage” strategic plan, this book looks ahead in detail to the overarching objective and sub-objectives of essentially achieving socialist modernization by 2035, discusses the building of a great modern socialist country in all respects from the perspective of the Party’s six-sphere integrated plan of economic, political, cultural, social, ecological civilization, and national defense construction, and provides policy proposals. This book also analyzes the influence and the effect of the socialist modernization with Chinese characteristics on the world and it further presents the third centenary goal. In conclusion, this book is an elaboration of the work of the Institute for Contemporary China Studies, Tsinghua University. It reflects the intellectual innovation in the authors’ research on contemporary China, as well as the authors’ foresight and predictions about China’s future development

    This article examines China's major development contributions, looking at its wider impact on world development. In particular, the article examines the impact of China's development on the changing pattern between the North and South and the human development index. The factors and related regimes behind these phenomena are discussed and a conceptual model is constructed, providing a meta?analysis of the evolution of China's role, based on the structural interpretation of external impetus and barriers, as well as internal advantages and shortcomings. The authors' long?term projections show that the rise of the South, led by China, will be the most important shift in the world's landscape with respect to the development of the emerging world, perhaps leading other large developing economies to play a more prominent role in international development in the future, bringing common development, common prosperity and common progress to the world

    DiffAIL: Diffusion Adversarial Imitation Learning

    Imitation learning aims to solve the problem of defining reward functions in real-world decision-making tasks. The current popular approach is the Adversarial Imitation Learning (AIL) framework, which matches expert state-action occupancy measures to obtain a surrogate reward for forward reinforcement learning. However, the traditional discriminator is a simple binary classifier and doesn't learn an accurate distribution, which may result in failing to identify expert-level state-action pairs induced by the policy interacting with the environment. To address this issue, we propose a method named diffusion adversarial imitation learning (DiffAIL), which introduces the diffusion model into the AIL framework. Specifically, DiffAIL models the state-action pairs as unconditional diffusion models and uses diffusion loss as part of the discriminator's learning objective, which enables the discriminator to capture better expert demonstrations and improve generalization. Experimentally, the results show that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance and significantly surpasses expert demonstration on two benchmark tasks, including the standard state-action setting and state-only settings.     The Impact of Smoking Status on the Efficacy of Erlotinib in Patients with Advanced Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

    Background and objective Erlotinib is a targeted treatment for advanced non-small cell lung cancer. Smoking status may be one of influencing factors of the efficacy of erlotinib. The aim of this study is to explore the impact of smoking status on the efficacy of erlotinib in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer. Methods Patients with nonsmall cell lung cancer who had been previously treated with at least one course of platinum based chemotherapy received 150 mg oral doses of erlotinib once daily until disease progression. Response rate, progression-free survival, overall survival were analyzed in the different smoking status groups. Kaplan-Meier method was used to analyze the survival rate. Results Fortyeight patients were enrolled into the study from December 2005 to September 2006. We followed up these patients until 28th December, 2008. Median follow up time was 30 months. The compliance rate was 100%. The response rate was 32.1% in the smoking group and 35% in the never smoking group (P=0.836); The median progression-free survival was 3 months and 9 months, respectively (P=0.033). The median overall survival was 5 months and 17 months, respectively (P=0.162). Conclusion Erlotinib is an effective drug for advanced non-small cell lung cancer patients with different smoking status. Progressionfree survival is better in the never smoking patients than the smoking patients

    Deep learning for in vitro prediction of pharmaceutical formulations

    Current pharmaceutical formulation development still strongly relies on the traditional trial-and-error approach by individual experiences of pharmaceutical scientists, which is laborious, time-consuming and costly. Recently, deep learning has been widely applied in many challenging domains because of its important capability of automatic feature extraction. The aim of this research is to use deep learning to predict pharmaceutical formulations. In this paper, two different types of dosage forms were chosen as model systems. Evaluation criteria suitable for pharmaceutics were applied to assessing the performance of the models. Moreover, an automatic dataset selection algorithm was developed for selecting the representative data as validation and test datasets. Six machine learning methods were compared with deep learning. The result shows the accuracies of both two deep neural networks were above 80% and higher than other machine learning models, which showed good prediction in pharmaceutical formulations. In summary, deep learning with the automatic data splitting algorithm and the evaluation criteria suitable for pharmaceutical formulation data was firstly developed for the prediction of pharmaceutical formulations. The cross-disciplinary integration of pharmaceutics and artificial intelligence may shift the paradigm of pharmaceutical researches from experience-dependent studies to data-driven methodologies

    Achieving ultra-high strength and ductility in Mg–9Al–1Zn–0.5Mn alloy via selective laser melting

    Fabrication of the Mg–9Al–1Zn–0.5Mn alloy with excellent mechanical performance using selective laser melting (SLM) technology is quite difficult owing to the poor weldability and low boiling point. To address these challenges and seek the optimal processing parameters, response surface methodology was systematically utilized to determine the appropriate SLM parameter combinations. Mg–9Al–1Zn–0.5Mn sample with high relative density (99.5 ​± ​0.28%) and favorable mechanical properties (microhardness ​= ​95.6 ​± ​5.28 HV0.1, UTS ​= ​370.2 ​MPa, and At ​= ​10.4%) was achieved using optimized SLM parameters (P ​= ​120 ​W, v ​= ​500 ​mm/s, and h ​= ​45 ​μm). Sample ​is dominated by a random texture and microstructure is primarily constituted by quantities of fine equiaxed grains (α-Mg phase), a small amount of β-Al12Mg17 structures (4.96 ​vol%, including spherical: [21¯1¯0]α// [111]β and long lath-like: [21¯1¯0]α// [11¯5]β or [1¯011]α// [32¯1¯]β), and some short rod-shaped Al8Mn5 nanoparticles. Benefiting from grain boundary strengthening, solid solution strengthening, and precipitation hardening of various nanoparticles (β-Al12Mg17 and Al8Mn5), high-performance Mg–9Al–1Zn–0.5Mn alloy biomedical implants can be fabricated. Precipitation hardening dominates the strengthening mechanism of the SLM Mg–9Al–1Zn–0.5Mn alloy.</p

    Utilization of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists in children and adolescents in China: a real-world study

    BackgroundGlucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) have been widely used in treating type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and obesity in adults, but scientific research about the indication in children and adolescents is scarce. The current study aims to explore the prescriptions of GLP-1RAs in children and adolescents in China and to evaluate its rationality.MethodsGLP-1RA prescriptions of children and adolescents were retrospectively obtained from the Hospital Prescription Analysis Cooperative Project. The study extracted information on patient’s demographic characteristics, monotherapy and combination therapy of GLP-1RAs, and trends in GLP-1RA usage from 2016 to 2021. The rationality of GLP-1RA prescriptions was comprehensively assessed based on the indications approved by China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), European Medicines Agency (EMA), Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA), and published randomized controlled trials (RCTs).ResultsA total of 234 prescriptions from 46 hospitals were included, with a median age of 17 years old. The majority of patients were diagnosed with overweight/obesity or prediabetes/diabetes, accounting for 43.59% and 46.15%, respectively. There were 88 patients on GLP-1RA monotherapy. GLP-1RAs plus metformin was the most common combination therapy (38.89%). 12.39% of patients were found a co-administration with orlistat. The share of overweight/obesity prescriptions increased from 27% in 2016 to 54% in 2021, whereas prediabetes/diabetes prescriptions declined from 55% to 42%. The prescriptions were divided into appropriate and questionable groups according to the diagnosis, and the potentially questionable prescription was related to age (p = 0.017), department visited (p = 0.002), and any hospitalization (p &lt; 0.001).ConclusionsThis study described the prescribing of GLP-1RAs in children and adolescents. Our findings indicated that the utilization of GLP-1RAs has increased from 2016 to 2021. There was a strong basis for administering GLP-1RAs in overweight/obesity and prediabetes/diabetes, whereas the evidence was insufficient in other conditions. It is crucial to demand robust and sustained efforts to enhance the awareness of the safety of utilization of GLP-1RAs in children and adolescents

    FABRICATION OF NANO-ELECTROMECHANICAL STRUCTURES DOWN TO 20 NM BY SPACER TECHNOLOGY

    ABSTRACT Spacer technology has been developed to fabricate nanostructures for NEMS application. It provides a parallel nanofabrication method with double or quadplex device density at a certain lithography node. By controlling the deposited film thickness, the feature size of the SiO 2 spacer hard mask is reduced down to 35 nm. After the spacer pattern is transferred to Si, a precise thermal oxidation is performed to improve the profile and reduce the plasma damage. Finally, sublimation or HF vapor phase etching is introduced to release the nanostructures according to different structure dimensions. As a result, with better surface morphology, suspended Si nanobeams with a width of 20 nm are obtained. Actuated by mechanical vibration and electrostatic forces, vibrations of the obtained cantilever beams and fixed-fixed beams are observed in SEM. In addition, a metallic nano-nozzle with a diameter of 140 nm is established by electroless plating around the suspended Si nano-beam served as a mold. As a development of the spacer technology, nano-needle array is demonstrated at the cross points of crossed SiO 2 spacers by anisotropic etching. The diameters of the hybridized nano-needles are 300 nm so far and can be further reduced by smaller spacer dimension
