A Search for pair production of the LSP ντ~\tilde{\nu_{\tau}} at the CLIC via RPV Decays

In this work we consider pair production of LSP tau-sneutrinos at the Compact Lineer Collider. We assume that tau-sneutrinos decays in to e\textmu pair via RPV interactions. Backgroundless subprocess e−e+→ν~ν~ˉ→μ+μ+e−e−(μ−μ−e+e+)e{}^{-}e^{+}\rightarrow\tilde{\nu}\bar{\tilde{\nu}}\rightarrow\mu^{+}\mu^{+}e^{-}e^{-}(\mu^{-}\mu^{-}e^{+}e^{+}) is analyzed in details. Achievable limits on Br (ν~τ→μe)Br\,(\tilde{\nu}_{\tau}\rightarrow\mu e) at 3σ3\sigma and 5σ5\sigma CL are obtained depending on ντ~\tilde{\nu_{\tau}} mass.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure

Trends in multiparticle production and some "predictions" for pp and PbPb collisions at LHC

Based on trends seen at lower energies we "predict" the multiplicities and pseudorapidity distributions of particle density and elliptic flow that will be seen in PbPb and pp collisions at the LHC. We argue that, if these predictions turn out to be correct, either these quantities are insensitive to the state of matter created in high energy heavy ion collisions or the observed simplicity and universality of the data must be telling us something profound about the mechanism of particle production, which to this date is not well understood.Comment: Invited Talk at SQM2007 Conferenc

Anatomic assessment of the left main bifurcation and dynamic bifurcation angles using computed tomography angiography

Background: An understanding of the left main coronary artery (LMCA) anatomy is important for accurate diagnosis and therapy. We aimed to investigate LMCA anatomy via 128-multisliced coronary computed-tomography-angiography (CCTA) in patients with normal LMCA. Materials and methods: A total of 201 CCTA studies were included in this study. Anatomical features of LMCA including cross-sectional areas of the LMCA ostial, LMCA distal, left anterior descending artery (LAD) ostial and left circumflex artery (LCX) ostial, and degree of tapering and LMCA bifurcation angles (BA) in the form of LMCA-LCX BA, LMCA-LAD BA, LAD-LCX BA at end-diastole and end-systole. Results: The mean age was 55 ± 11; 55.7% of patients were males. Right coronary artery was dominant in 173 (86.1%) patients. Mean LMCA length was 10.0 ± 4.5 mm. The mean values of LMCA ostial, LMCA distal, LAD ostial and LCX ostial areas were 18.2 ± 5.1 mm2, 13.2 ± 4.0 mm2, 9.0 ± 3.2 mm2 and 7.6 ± ± 2.8 mm2, respectively. LMCA ostial-distal area, LMCA distal-LAD ostial area and LMCA distal-LCX ostial area ratios were ≥ 1.44 – < 1.69 in 47 (23.4%), 53 (26.4%), 47 (23.4%) patients, respectively, and were ≥ 1.69 – < 1.96 in 19 (9.5%), 24 (11.9%), 40 (19.9%) patients respectively. Systolic motion modifies LMCA BAs; systolic motion begets an increment of LMCA-LAD angle in 72.6% of patients and decrement of LAD-LCX angle in 75.6% of patients. Patients with T-shaped LAD-LCX BA was shown to have significantly longer LMCA, larger LAD ostial area, larger LCX ostial area and higher diastolic-to-systolic range (DSR) of LAD-LCX BA compared to patients with Y-shaped LAD-LCX BA. Conclusions: LMCA with T-shaped distal BA was found to have significantly longer LMCA, larger LAD ostial area, larger LCX ostial area and higher DSR of distal BA compared to patients with Y-shaped distal BA. These findings may provide useful information for LMCA bifurcation stenting or designing dedicated stents for LMCA

Preparation of high surface area activated carbon from waste-biomass of sunflower piths: Kinetics and equilibrium studies on the dye removal

Sunflower pith (SP), a vast agricultural waste is herein used as a precursor material for highly porous low density activated carbon production. Porosity and flake-like microstructure of the SP in its natural form are shown by micro-computed tomography (Micro-CT). Carbonization process turns the SP into thin, separated carbon flakes of 200 nm thickness. Two types of alkaline based chemical activation with KOH and NaOH are performed to yield SP based activated carbon (AC), K-SPAC and N-SPAC, respectively. Microstructural changes upon carbonization and activation process are elaborated by RAMAN, FTIR and SEM analyses. BET Surface area of the NaOH-activated N-SPAC was calculated as 2690 m2/g and was higher than KOH-activated K-SPAC with 2090 m2/g. Maximum adsorption capacity of N-SPAC was calculated as 965 mg/g whereas it was 580 mg/g for K-SPAC. Adsorption kinetic studies for N-SPAC revealed that at a low initial concentration of dye (500 mg/L), the pseudo first-order kinetic model was predictive. On the other hand, at high initial MB concentration (1000 mg/L), the results indicate that the adsorption kinetics follow the Elovich model with intraparticle diffusion as one of the rate-determining steps. In conclusion, overall results suggest that thanks to its highly porous microstructure, the SP is an alternative renewable AC precursor choice for dye removal applications

Photometric, Spectroscopic and Orbital Period Study of Three Early Type Semi-detached Systems: XZ Aql, UX Her and AT Peg

In this paper we present a combined photometric, spectroscopic and orbital period study of three early-type eclipsing binary systems: XZ Aql, UX Her, and AT Peg. As a result, we have derived the absolute parameters of their components and, on that basis, we discuss their evolutionary states. Furthermore, we compare their parameters with those of other binary systems and with the theoretical models. An analysis of all available up-to-date times of minima indicated that all three systems studied here show cyclic orbital changes, their origin is discussed in detail. Finally, we performed a frequency analysis for possible pulsational behavior and as a result we suggest that XZ Aql hosts a {\delta} Scuti component.Comment: 40 pages, 16 figure

Quantum Statistical Effects on Fusion Dynamics of Heavy-Ions

    Get PDF
In order to describe the fusion of two very heavy nuclei at near barrier energies, a generalized Langevin approach is proposed, which incorporates the quantum statistical fluctuations in accordance with the fluctuation and dissipation theorem. It is illustrated that the quantum statistical effects introduce an enhancement of the formation of compound nucleus, though the quantum enhancement is somewhat less pronounced as indicated in the previous calculations.Comment: 17 pages, 6 figure
