Factor Graph Based LMMSE Filtering for Colored Gaussian Processes
We propose a low complexity, graph based linear minimum mean square error
(LMMSE) filter in which the non-white characteristics of a random process are
taken into account. Our method corresponds to block LMMSE filtering, and has
the advantage of complexity linearly increasing with the block length and the
ease of incorporating the a priori information of the input signals whenever
possible. The proposed method can be used with any random process with a known
autocorrelation function with the help of an approximation to an autoregressive
(AR) process. We show through extensive simulations that our method performs
very close to the optimal block LMMSE filtering for Gaussian input signals.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Generalizing the Sampling Property of the Q-function for Error Rate Analysis of Cooperative Communication in Fading Channels
This paper extends some approximation methods that are used to identify
closed form Bit Error Rate (BER) expressions which are frequently utilized in
investigation and comparison of performance for wireless communication systems
in the literature. By using this group of approximation methods, some
expectation integrals, which are complicated to analyze and have high
computational complexity to evaluate through Monte Carlo simulations, are
computed. For these integrals, by using the sampling property of the integrand
functions of one or more arguments, reliable BER expressions revealing the
diversity and coding gains are derived. Although the methods we present are
valid for a larger class of integration problems, in this work we show the step
by step derivation of the BER expressions for a canonical cooperative
communication scenario in addition to a network coded system starting from
basic building blocks. The derived expressions agree with the simulation

Practical Wireless Network Coding and Decoding Methods for Multiple Unicast Transmissions
We propose a simple yet effective wireless network coding and decoding
technique. It utilizes spatial diversity through cooperation between nodes
which carry out distributed encoding operations dictated by generator matrices
of linear block codes. For this purpose, we make use of greedy codes over the
binary field and show that desired diversity orders can be flexibly assigned to
nodes in a multiple unicast network, contrary to the previous findings in the
literature. Furthermore, we present the optimal detection rule for the given
model that accounts for intermediate node errors and suggest a network decoder
using the sum-product algorithm. The proposed sum-product detector exhibits

Anterior spinal cord herniation after multilevel anterior cervical corpectomy: A case report
Many complications related to the resection of an ossified posterior longitudinal ligament via the anterior approach have been reported. Postoperative neurological deterioration is one such complication that may appear due to massive anterior spinal cord herniation related to a dural defect following resection of the ossified posterior longitudinal ligament. Specifically, spinal cord herniations have been reported to be associated with posterior approaches, and a large number of theories regarding this association have been offered by various authors. However, anterior spinal cord herniation is extremely rare, and its pathophysiology has not yet been explained. In this case report, we report a male patient who experienced anterior spinal cord herniation following anterior surgery. Spinal cord herniation may develop following the removal of the anterior cervical corpectomy. Therefore, surgeons should be aware of this condition when planning treatments for cervical spondylotic myelopathy via the anterior approach
Noises Cancelling Adaptive Methods in Control Telemetry Systems of Oil Electrical Submersible Pumps
The main ideas of this paper are that only some from more than 10 MATLAB Adaptive Methods library may be useful and can be recommended to filter out High-Noises in similar Control Telemetry Channels of Electric Power Components like ESP Systems: only four of applied have shown successfully good results in the early prediction of the ESP motor real insulation disruption (like Sign-error, Sign-data and Sign-sign filters). The best among the ten analyzed adaptive filter algorithms was recognized to be, The Normalized LMS FIR filter algorithm — adaptfilt.nlm
Symptomatic Pneumocephalus after Lumbar Disc Surgery: a Case Report
Symptomatic pneumocephalus is frequently seen after traumatic fracture of the skull base bone. However, it has rarely been reported after spinal surgery and its mechanism has not been fully explained. In this paper, we present a 30 year old male patient who had lumbar discectomy due to a symptomatic midline lumbar disc herniation. He had developed symptomatic pneumocephalus after the lumbar disc surgery associated with application of a vacuum suction device. We present and discuss our patient in the light of the literatures
Does Previous Perianal Surgery for Benign Diseases Have an Impact on Timing of Hospital Admission in Patients with Colorectal Cancer?
Objective. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common and fatal malignancies worldwide. Although the clinical presentation varies according to the location of the tumor, hematochezia, tenesmus, changes in the defecation habit, chronic constipation, abdominal pain, and distension are the most common findings of CRCs. We aimed to investigate whether patients with CRC who had a surgical history for benign anal disease have more negative tumoral features or not. Material and Methods. Two-hundred fifty two patients who underwent surgery for CRC between 2010 and 2016 at general surgery clinic in Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital included in this study. Patients were classified into two groups; patients who had undergone surgery for benign perianal disease such as hemorrhoid, anal fissure, perianal abscess and fistulae (Group 1) and patients without past history for perianal surgery (Group 2). Results. A total of 252 CRC patients with a mean age of 64.2 years were included in the study. There were 95 (37.7%) females and 157 (62.3%) males. There were 25 (9.9%) patients who had surgical history for benign perianal disease. There were no statistically differences in tumor size, lymph node positivity, presence of distant metastasis, and tumor stage between the groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion. Although not statistically significant, CRC patients with a history of surgery for benign perianal disease had less lymphatic metastases and tumor size than those without prior perianal surgery. We think that this finding is important in that it indicates the importance of detailed and appropriate evaluation of patients with CRC
Cervicothoracic Arachnoid Cyst Causing Cervical Myelopathy: A Case Report
Several types of intraspinal cyst develop within the spinal canal from the craniovertebral junction to the sacrum. These lesions occur in both children and adults. Arachnoid cysts are one of them and are more frequent in the paediatric population, being a relatively uncommon lesion in adults. The arachnoid cyst may be located intradurally or extradurally. The intradural type may be congenital or from spinal trauma, infection or spondylosis. Although intradural arachnoid cysts are often asymptomatic, they may give early symptoms when they exist with synchronous pathologies constricting the spinal canal gradually as in cervical spondylosis. In this report, a 60-year-old man with an arachnoid cyst of the cervicothoracic spine is presented. His cyst remained undiagnosed because of the nonspecific nature of the symptoms. It was only when he developed right hemiparesis that a posterior fluid collection compressing the spinal cord was found in Magnetic resonance imaginig. An intradural extramedullary cyst was removed with successful surgery and cord compression and symptoms were reversed. We discuss radiological diagnosis and surgical treatment of an arachnoid cyst in this report
