    Counselors as Advocates: Effects of a Pilot Project Designed to Develop Advocacy Knowledge and Confidence in Trainees

    While there has been increased attention to advocacy within counseling and counseling psychology, it has been noted that trainees generally feel unprepared to engage in advocacy and do not participant e in this type of work to a large extent, even with increased age or professional experience). The qualitative study summarizes the findings of a project within a graduate multicultural counseling course designed to increase trainee knowledge and confidence related to advocacy. This project required students (N = 19) to complete individual advocacy projects in the community, with opportunities for self-reflection and evaluation of their progress throughout the semester. Student reflection responses about the effects of this project were analyzed using methods from Grounded Theory by a collaborative research team. This process resulted in a core category of responses that included expanded definitions of advocacy, increased self-confidence regarding advocacy work, obstacles encountered, and reactions to the course assignment. Implications and future directions are discussed

    Multidifferential study of identified charged hadron distributions in ZZ-tagged jets in proton-proton collisions at s=\sqrt{s}=13 TeV

    Jet fragmentation functions are measured for the first time in proton-proton collisions for charged pions, kaons, and protons within jets recoiling against a ZZ boson. The charged-hadron distributions are studied longitudinally and transversely to the jet direction for jets with transverse momentum 20 <pT<100< p_{\textrm{T}} < 100 GeV and in the pseudorapidity range 2.5<η<42.5 < \eta < 4. The data sample was collected with the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.64 fb1^{-1}. Triple differential distributions as a function of the hadron longitudinal momentum fraction, hadron transverse momentum, and jet transverse momentum are also measured for the first time. This helps constrain transverse-momentum-dependent fragmentation functions.     Study of the BΛc+ΛˉcKB^{-} \to \Lambda_{c}^{+} \bar{\Lambda}_{c}^{-} K^{-} decay

    The decay BΛc+ΛˉcKB^{-} \to \Lambda_{c}^{+} \bar{\Lambda}_{c}^{-} K^{-} is studied in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of s=13\sqrt{s}=13 TeV using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5 fb1\mathrm{fb}^{-1} collected by the LHCb experiment. In the Λc+K\Lambda_{c}^+ K^{-} system, the Ξc(2930)0\Xi_{c}(2930)^{0} state observed at the BaBar and Belle experiments is resolved into two narrower states, Ξc(2923)0\Xi_{c}(2923)^{0} and Ξc(2939)0\Xi_{c}(2939)^{0}, whose masses and widths are measured to be m(Ξc(2923)0)=2924.5±0.4±1.1MeV,m(Ξc(2939)0)=2938.5±0.9±2.3MeV,Γ(Ξc(2923)0)=0004.8±0.9±1.5MeV,Γ(Ξc(2939)0)=0011.0±1.9±7.5MeV, m(\Xi_{c}(2923)^{0}) = 2924.5 \pm 0.4 \pm 1.1 \,\mathrm{MeV}, \\ m(\Xi_{c}(2939)^{0}) = 2938.5 \pm 0.9 \pm 2.3 \,\mathrm{MeV}, \\ \Gamma(\Xi_{c}(2923)^{0}) = \phantom{000}4.8 \pm 0.9 \pm 1.5 \,\mathrm{MeV},\\ \Gamma(\Xi_{c}(2939)^{0}) = \phantom{00}11.0 \pm 1.9 \pm 7.5 \,\mathrm{MeV}, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The results are consistent with a previous LHCb measurement using a prompt Λc+K\Lambda_{c}^{+} K^{-} sample. Evidence of a new Ξc(2880)0\Xi_{c}(2880)^{0} state is found with a local significance of 3.8σ3.8\,\sigma, whose mass and width are measured to be 2881.8±3.1±8.5MeV2881.8 \pm 3.1 \pm 8.5\,\mathrm{MeV} and 12.4±5.3±5.8MeV12.4 \pm 5.3 \pm 5.8 \,\mathrm{MeV}, respectively. In addition, evidence of a new decay mode Ξc(2790)0Λc+K\Xi_{c}(2790)^{0} \to \Lambda_{c}^{+} K^{-} is found with a significance of 3.7σ3.7\,\sigma. The relative branching fraction of BΛc+ΛˉcKB^{-} \to \Lambda_{c}^{+} \bar{\Lambda}_{c}^{-} K^{-} with respect to the BD+DKB^{-} \to D^{+} D^{-} K^{-} decay is measured to be 2.36±0.11±0.22±0.252.36 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.22 \pm 0.25, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third originates from the branching fractions of charm hadron decays.Comment: All figures and tables, along with any supplementary material and additional information, are available at https://cern.ch/lhcbproject/Publications/p/LHCb-PAPER-2022-028.html (LHCb public pages

    Measurement of the ratios of branching fractions R(D)\mathcal{R}(D^{*}) and R(D0)\mathcal{R}(D^{0})

    The ratios of branching fractions R(D)B(BˉDτνˉτ)/B(BˉDμνˉμ)\mathcal{R}(D^{*})\equiv\mathcal{B}(\bar{B}\to D^{*}\tau^{-}\bar{\nu}_{\tau})/\mathcal{B}(\bar{B}\to D^{*}\mu^{-}\bar{\nu}_{\mu}) and R(D0)B(BD0τνˉτ)/B(BD0μνˉμ)\mathcal{R}(D^{0})\equiv\mathcal{B}(B^{-}\to D^{0}\tau^{-}\bar{\nu}_{\tau})/\mathcal{B}(B^{-}\to D^{0}\mu^{-}\bar{\nu}_{\mu}) are measured, assuming isospin symmetry, using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to 3.0 fb1{ }^{-1} of integrated luminosity recorded by the LHCb experiment during 2011 and 2012. The tau lepton is identified in the decay mode τμντνˉμ\tau^{-}\to\mu^{-}\nu_{\tau}\bar{\nu}_{\mu}. The measured values are R(D)=0.281±0.018±0.024\mathcal{R}(D^{*})=0.281\pm0.018\pm0.024 and R(D0)=0.441±0.060±0.066\mathcal{R}(D^{0})=0.441\pm0.060\pm0.066, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The correlation between these measurements is ρ=0.43\rho=-0.43.     Associated production of prompt J/ψJ/\psi and Υ\mathit{\Upsilon} mesons in pppp collisions at s=13TeV\sqrt{s}=13\,\mathrm{TeV}

    International audienceThe associated production of prompt J/ψJ/\psi and Υ\mathit{\mathit{\Upsilon}} mesons in pppp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of s=13TeV\sqrt{s}=13\,\mathrm{TeV} is studied using LHCb data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4fb14\,\mathrm{fb}^{-1}. The measurement is performed for J/ψJ/\psi (Υ\mathit{\Upsilon}) mesons with a transverse momentum pT<10(30)GeV/cp_{\mathrm{T}}<10\,(30)\,\mathrm{GeV}/c in the rapidity range 2.0<y<4.52.0<y<4.5. In this kinematic range, the cross-section of the associated production of prompt J/ψJ/\psi and Υ(1S)\mathit{\Upsilon}(1S) mesons is measured to be 133±22±7±3pb133 \pm 22 \pm 7 \pm 3 \, \mathrm{pb}, with a significance of 7.9σ7.9\,\sigma, and that of prompt J/ψJ/\psi and Υ(2S)\mathit{\Upsilon}(2S) mesons to be 76±21±4±7pb76\pm 21 \pm 4 \pm 7 \, \mathrm{pb}, with a significance of 4.9σ4.9\,\sigma. The first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third due to uncertainties on the used branching fractions. This is the first observation of the associated production of J/ψJ/\psi and Υ(1S)\mathit{\Upsilon}(1S) in proton-proton collisions. Differential cross-sections are measured as function of variables that are sensitive to kinematic correlations between the J/ψJ/\psi and Υ(1S)\mathit{\Upsilon}(1S) mesons. The effective cross-sections of the associated production of prompt J/ψJ/\psi and Υ\mathit{\Upsilon} mesons are obtained and found to be compatible with measurements using other particle productions

Using established branching fractions for the B0Dπ+ππ+B^0 \to D^{*-}\pi^+\pi^-\pi^+ and B0Dμ+νμB^0 \to D^{*-} \mu^+\nu_\mu modes, the lepton universality test, R(D)B(B0Dτ+ντ)/B(B0Dμ+νμ)\mathcal{R}(D^{*-}) \equiv \mathcal{B}(B^0 \to D^{*-}\tau^+\nu_{\tau})/\mathcal{B}(B^0 \to D^{*-} \mu^+\nu_\mu) is calculated, R(D)=0.247±0.015±0.015±0.012, \mathcal{R}(D^{*-}) = 0.247 \pm 0.015 \pm 0.015 \pm 0.012\, , where the third uncertainty is due to the uncertainties on the external branching fractions. This result is consistent with the Standard Model prediction and with previous measurements

    Study of charmonium decays to KS0KπK^0_S K \pi in the B(KS0Kπ)KB \to (K^0_S K \pi) K channels

    International audienceA study of the B+KS0K+Kπ+B^+\to K^0_SK^+K^-\pi^+ and B+KS0K+K+πB^+\to K^0_SK^+K^+\pi^- decays is performed using proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV at the LHCb experiment. The KS0KπK^0_SK \pi invariant mass spectra from both decay modes reveal a rich content of charmonium resonances. New precise measurements of the ηc\eta_c and ηc(2S)\eta_c(2S) resonance parameters are performed and branching fraction measurements are obtained for B+B^+ decays to ηc\eta_c, J/ψJ/\psi, ηc(2S)\eta_c(2S) and χc1\chi_{c1} resonances. In particular, the first observation and branching fraction measurement of B+χc0K0π+B^+ \to \chi_{c0} K^0 \pi^+ is reported as well as first measurements of the B+K0K+Kπ+B^+\to K^0K^+K^-\pi^+ and B+K0K+K+πB^+\to K^0K^+K^+\pi^- branching fractions. Dalitz plot analyses of ηcKS0Kπ\eta_c \to K^0_SK\pi and ηc(2S)KS0Kπ\eta_c(2S) \to K^0_SK\pi decays are performed. A new measurement of the amplitude and phase of the KπK \piSS-wave as functions of the KπK \pi mass is performed, together with measurements of the K0(1430)K^*_0(1430), K0(1950)K^*_0(1950) and a0(1700)a_0(1700) parameters. Finally, the branching fractions of χc1\chi_{c1} decays to KK^* resonances are also measured

    Measurement of Ξc+\Xi_{c}^{+} production in ppPb collisions at sNN=8.16\sqrt{s_{NN}}=8.16 TeV at LHCb

    International audienceA study of prompt Ξc+\Xi_{c}^{+} production in proton-lead collisions is performed with the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of 8.16 TeV in 2016 in ppPb and Pbpp collisions with an estimated integrated luminosity of approximately 12.5 and 17.4 nb1^{-1}, respectively. The Ξc+\Xi_{c}^{+} production cross-section, as well as the Ξc+\Xi_{c}^{+} to Λc+\Lambda_{c}^{+} production cross-section ratio, are measured as a function of the transverse momentum and rapidity and compared to latest theory predictions. The forward-backward asymmetry is also measured as a function of the Ξc+\Xi_{c}^{+} transverse momentum
