The last half of the 20th century witnessed so great debates in social sciences. Many scholars examined the transformation that occurred in industrialized society and tried to redefined it: some of them called the new form of this society as post-fordist society while some others called as postmodern, post industrialized, post bureaucratic and so on. All these attempts have tried to tell same thing: the society is no more the same industrial society. Every sample has affected from that transformation and of course ‘works’ itself. This study aims to examine the relation between work and leisure and discuss the place of voluntary work in that frame using a case from The Kingdom Boys Football Academy fromRepublic of Ireland. The methodology of the paper depends on two types. The first part of the paper will examine the literature of voluntary work. Thus, the methods of this part will be literature review. The main part of the paper, second part, will ground on ‘the case’. The methods of the research will be participant observation

A High Performance and Platform Independent Web-Based Distance Learning Environment

The growth of the Internet and the World Wide Web (WWW) has significantly increased the amount of online information and services available to the general population of society. The fast development of high-powered communication technology, together with an increasingly computer-wise society have created new opportunities for the delivery of educational material and distance education on the Web. Among the popular Web-based distance learning systems are WebCT, Blackboard, Lotus LearningSpace and Virtual-U. However, these systems have limitations such as platfonn dependent, slow performance and expensive cost. In this thesis, a Web-based distance learning environment (WebEd 2000) has been developed using Java servlets and random access file to address these problems. It is essentially an extension of WebEd, a first working prototype of Web-based distance learning system developed at the Broadband and ATM Research Group, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). This new version provides significant improvement over its predecessor in various aspects, such as system performance, usability, scalability, security, reliability and stability. WebEd 2000 enables delivering conventional lecture notes over the Web and providing various tools to help in managing and maintaining course materials in a server. It also enables traditional face-to-face interaction to be carried out asynchronously via email and announcement services. Moreover, the system also supports monitoring and tracking of students activities as well as managing of students within a course. WebEd 2000 is mainly developed using the combination of Java servlets and JavaScript technologies. The server-side servlets, together with the binary format random access file, are used to process various client requests and store data, while the client-side JavaScript is used to enable DHTML features and perform less security concern processes such as generating an input dialogue box, hence lessening the workload of the server in relative. Finally, WebEd 2000 can easily be set up and deployed in any platforms with minimal modifications. Flexibility is achieved by utilizing Java technology for the system applications and random access file for the system data repository. It is this platform neutrality of Java bytecodes and binary file format that makes WebEd 2000 a completely platform independent Web-based distance learning environment

The study of Korean diaspora in Japan remains one of the less researched issue in Post soviet realm. The purpose of the research is study and comparison of the problems and peculiarities of the adaptation and integration of the ethnic Koreans in accepting society to take Japan and CIS as an example. In Korean society there is “new hybrid identity” when the relation to ethnos is characterized as identity as blood linage and identity of residence. Not the last role-plays the level of the education and social status of Koreans. The higher the constituents the higher and equal the love to “mother and father” as to “identity of Korean ethnos and ethnos of accepting society.”中央アジア諸国日本研究カンファレンス 日程:2017年2月18日-19日 会場:カザフ国立大学東洋学部棟(アルマティ、カザフスタン

Return on Investment for Collaborative Collection Development: A Cost-Benefit Evaluation of Consortia Purchasing

This paper describes the cost-benefits and the return on investment of one consortium comprised of five separately administered libraries in the University of Colorado (CU) System. With a long history of collaboration, the libraries have developed an ideal cooperative arrangement for acquiring electronic content that is accessible across all campuses. The size and flexibility of this institution-based consortium allows it to be responsive and successful in collaborating across four campuses despite different sized budgets and unique local and institutional constraints. To demonstrate the value of jointly leveraging library budgets to university administrators, the authors conducted a consortium level cost-benefit analysis and describe the methodology used to quantify return on the university’s investment. This paper addresses both qualitative and quantitative outcomes and underscores how consortial participation has become an essential way of doing business
