The Spectroscopic Orbits of Three Double-lined Eclipsing Binaries: I. BG Ind, IM Mon, RS Sgr
We present the spectroscopic orbit solutions of three double-lines eclipsing
binaries, BG Ind, IM Mon and RS Sgr. The first precise radial velocities (RVs)
of the components were determined using high resolution echelle spectra
obtained at Mt. John University Observatory in New Zealand. The RVs of the
components of BG Ind and RS Sgr were measured using Gaussian fittings to the
selected spectral lines, whereas two-dimensional cross-correlation technique
was preferred to determine the RVs of IM Mon since it has relatively short
orbital period among the other targets and so blending of the lines is more
effective. For all systems, the Keplerian orbital solution was used during the
analysis and also circular orbit was adopted because the eccentricities for all
targets were found to be negligible. The first precise orbit analysis of these
systems gives the mass ratios of the systems as 0.894, 0.606 and 0.325,
respectively for BG Ind, IM Mon and RS Sgr. Comparison of the mass ratio
values, orbital sizes and minimum masses of the components of the systems
indicates that all systems should have different physical, dynamical and

Example-based retargeting of human motion to arbitrary mesh models
We present a novel method for retargeting human motion to arbitrary 3D mesh models with as little user interaction as possible. Traditional motion-retargeting systems try to preserve the original motion, while satisfying several motion constraints. Our method uses a few pose-to-pose examples provided by the user to extract the desired semantics behind the retargeting process while not limiting the transfer to being only literal. Thus, mesh models with different structures and/or motion semantics from humanoid skeletons become possible targets. Also considering the fact that most publicly available mesh models lack additional structure (e.g. skeleton), our method dispenses with the need for such a structure by means of a built-in surface-based deformation system. As deformation for animation purposes may require non-rigid behaviour, we augment existing rigid deformation approaches to provide volume-preserving and squash-and-stretch deformations. We demonstrate our approach on well-known mesh models along with several publicly available motion-capture sequences. Capital Structures of Small Family Firms in Developing Countries
This study uses firm level survey data to assess whether the capital structure theory is portable to small firms in developing countries and whether family ownership and management play a role in their financing decisions. Using a sample of firms from 24 developing countries from all over the world, our main results show (i) The size of the firm is an important factor in the level of leverage; (ii) Small family firms do not follow the pecking order (iii) The country of incorporation is an important determinant for the debt financing decisions of small family firms; they are sensitive to institutional characteristics, and the macroeconomic environment variables of the country; and (iv) the difference in capital structure choices is related to management styles of small family firms
CCD BV and 2MASS photometric study of the open cluster NGC 1513
We present CCD BV and JHK 2MASS photometric data for the open cluster
NGC 1513. We observed 609 stars in the direction of the cluster up to a
limiting magnitude of mag. The star count method shows that the
centre of the cluster lies at ,
and its angular size is arcmin.
The optical and near-infrared two-colour diagrams reveal the colour excesses in
the direction of the cluster as , and
mag. These results are consistent with normal
interstellar extinction values. Optical and near-infrared Zero Age
Main-Sequences (ZAMS) provided an average distance modulus of
mag, which can be translated into a distance of
pc. Finally, using Padova isochrones we determined the metallicity
and age of the cluster as ( dex) and
