    Mechanical Performance of Simple Supported Concrete Beam-Cable Composite Element with External Prestress

    A new reinforcement technology of external prestress based on stretch tilted belly poles has been presented. Taking simply supported beam, which is reinforced by three titled belly poles, as a research object to establish a model of reinforced simply supported beam. Relationship expressions about deflection and internal force increment of external cable or about load and deflection have been deduced. Finite element model is established by ABAQUS. The influence of structure performance of reinforced simply supported beam with cable section, cable sag and initial internal force value was investigated. Three tests are carried out to testify the results of theoretical analysis and numerical simulation. The results show that the redistributions of internal force and sectional stress have occurred, and the stiffness, crack load, ultimate load, and structure ductility are all improved with the increase of three design parameters. For example, the crack load, ultimate load, and structure ductility have increased, respectively, by 24%~40%, 15%~42%, and 14%~40%. High initial internal force, small section, and big cable sag should be avoided, because the probability of brittle failure of structure will increase. The analytical result shows that the reliability of internal increment expression of external cable and carrying capacity expression can be used in the engineering practice

    Frosting performance of a nanoporous hydrophilic aluminum surface

As an efficient energy-saving piece of equipment, an air-source heat pump can not only reduce the energy consumption required for heating, but can also reduce the pollution from fossil consumption. However, when an air-source heat pump operates under low temperatures and high humidity, the heat exchanger surface of its outdoor evaporator often get covered with frost. The growth of the frost layer seriously affects the operation efficiency of the equipment and limits its engineering application. Looking for materials that can actively inhibit frost forming is a good strategy to solve the problem mentioned above. Numerous studies show that a hydrophilic surface (contact angle less than 90◦) can inhibit the normal freezing process. Manufacturing nanostructures on the surface also affect frosting performance. In this paper, nanoporous hydrophilic aluminum sheets, with contact angles of 47.8◦ (Sample 2), 35.9◦ (Sample 3), and 22.9◦ (Sample 4), respectively, were fabricated by the anodic oxidation method. The frosting performance of the nanoporous hydrophilic aluminum was studied compared with polished aluminum, with a contact angle of 60.2◦ (Sample 1). The frosting performance of the aluminum surface was systematically studied by observing the frost structure from top and side cameras and measuring the frost thickness, frost mass, and frosting rate. It was found that nanoporous hydrophilic aluminum can reduce the frost thickness and frost mass. The frost mass reduction rate of sample 2 reached a maximum of 65.9% at the surface temperature of −15 ◦C, under test conditions. When the surface temperature was −15 ◦C, the frosting rate of Sample 2 was 1.71 g/(m2·min), which was about one-third of that on sample 1 (polished aluminum). Nanoporous hydrophilic aluminum behaved better at lessening frost than polished aluminum, which revealed that manufacturing nanopores and promoting hydrophilicity can delay the formation of frost

    Investigation on the Solar Absorption Property of the Nanoporous Alumina Sheet for Solar Application

    In order to improve the absorption performance of the aluminum sheet for solar application, the nanoporous alumina sheets with the pore diameters of 30 nm and 400 nm were prepared by the anodic oxidation method. The absorption properties of the nanoporous alumina sheets under different solar radiation intensity were studied and compared with the conventional polished aluminum sheet. The results showed that the average absorptivity of the aluminum sheets decreased with the increase of the radiation intensity. When the radiation intensity was 100 W/m2, the nanoporous alumina sheet with the 30 nm pore diameter had the highest average solar absorptivity of 0.39, which was 18% higher than that of the nanoporous alumina sheet with 400 nm pore diameter, and 50% higher than that of the polished aluminum sheet. The maximum instantaneous absorption efficiency of the nanoporous alumina sheet with 30 nm pore diameter was found at 0.92 when the radiation intensity was 100 W/m2. The testing results indicated that the nanoporous alumina sheet with the 30 nm pore diameter performed the best compared with the other two aluminum sheets. By error propagation analysis, the relative error of the average amount of heat absorption and the average absorptivity were acceptable

    Background: The APOA5 rs662799 polymorphism has been widely reported regarding its associations with the plasma lipid levels and the occurrence of coronary heart disease (CHD), whereas its relationship with the severity of CHD has not yet been explored. Methods: Four hundred and seventy-eight angiografically defined subjects (325 CHD patients and 153 CHD-free controls) were enrolled in this study. The rs662799 polymorphism was genotyped, and the fasting lipid data were collected for all participants. The severity of CHD was evaluated for the CHD patients by using Gensini scores. Results: The variant C allele of the rs662799 polymorphism was associated with lower levels of HDL-C in CHD-free women, and higher levels of TG and TG/HDL-C in women with CHD (P \u3c 0.05 for all). The C allele was associated with higher prevalence of dyslipidemia and higher levels of Gensini scores only in women (P \u3c 0.05 for both), but not in men. Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that the rs662799 polymorphism was independently associated with the Gensini scores in women after adjustment for other potential CHD risk factors (Beta = 0.157, 95 % CI: 0.017–0.298, P = 0.028). Conclusion: Our data indicate that the rs662799 polymorphism is associated with dyslipidemia and the severity of CHD in Chinese women

    Prevalence and associated factors of internet addiction among Chinese adolescents: association with childhood trauma

    IntroductionInternet addiction (IA) is common among adolescents and may have severe consequences. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and factors associated with IA among middle school students of Hunan Province, China. Relevance between IA and childhood trauma was also explored.MethodsOne thousand six hundred ten students were enrolled in this cross-sectional study. Data collected included demographics; internet addiction (revised-Chen internet addiction scale); childhood trauma (CTQ-SF); depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms (DASS-21); suicidal behaviors, as well as non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI). Cramer’s V analysis, univariable logistic regression and multivariable logistic regression were used for associations and identifying independent relevance of IA, respectively.ResultsThe prevalence of IA was 12.8%. Cramer’s V analysis showed that IA was associated with emotional abuse, emotional and physical neglect, NSSI, suicidal behaviors, stress, anxiety and depressive symptoms, physical disorder history. Regression analysis showed that IA was independently associated with emotional neglect (OR = 3.062, 95% CI: 2.083, 4.501, p < 0.001); physical neglect (OR = 2.328; 95% CI: 1.590, 3.409, p < 0.001); depressive symptoms (OR = 2.218, 95% CI: 1.467, 3.353, p < 0.001) nationality (OR = 1.888, 95% CI: 1.034, 3.447, p = 0.006) and age (OR = 1.253, 95% CI: 1.066, 1.471, p = 0.006).DiscussionIA is common among middle school students. Attention should be paid to students with childhood trauma since they have a higher risk for IA, which may increase the risk for suicidal behaviors

    PO-193 Exercise training decreased lipid accumulation in murine skeletal muscle through Sestrin2-mediated SHIP2-JNK signaling pathway

    Objective Obesity is becoming increasingly prevalent and is an important contributor to the worldwide burden of diseases. It is widely accepted that exercise training is beneficial for the prevention and treatment of obesity. However, the underlying mechanism by which exercise training improving skeletal muscle lipid metabolism is still not fully described. Sestrins (Sestrin1-3) are highly conserved stress-inducible protein. Concomitant ablation of Sestrin2 and Sestrin3 has been reported to provoke hepatic mTORC1/S6K1 activation and insulin resistance even without nutritional overload and obesity, implicating that Sestrin2 and Sestrin3 have an important homeostatic function in the control of mammalian glucose and lipid metabolism. Our previous results demonstrated that physical exercise increased Sestrin2 expression in murine skeletal muscle, while the role of Sestrin2 in regulating lipid metabolism remains unknown.  SH2 domain containing inositol 5-phosphatase (SHIP2) acts as a negative regulator of the insulin signaling both in vitro and in vivo. An increased expression of SHIP2 inhibits the insulin-induced Akt activation, glucose uptake, and glycogen synthesis in 3T3-L1 adipocytes, L6 myotubes and tissues of animal models. Alterations of SHIP2 expression and/or enzymatic function appear to have a profound impact on the development of insulin resistance. However, the regulatory function of SHIP2 in lipid metabolism after exercise remains unclear. It has been reported that SHIP2 modulated lipid metabolism through regulating the activity of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and Sterol regulatory element-binding protein-1 (SREBP-1). JNK is a subclass of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway in mammalian cells and plays a crucial role in metabolic changes and inflammation associated with a high-fat diet. Inhibition of JNK reduces lipid deposition and proteins level of fatty acid de novo synthesis in liver cells. It has been reported that Sestrin2 regulated the phosphorylation of JNK, however the underlying mechanism remains unclear. SREBP-1 is important in regulating cholesterol biosynthesis and uptake and fatty acid biosynthesis, and SREBP-1 expression produces two different isoforms, SREBP-1a and SREBP-1c. SREBP-1c is responsible for regulating the genes required for de novo lipogenesis and its expression is regulated by insulin. SREBP-1a regulates genes related to lipid and cholesterol production and its activity is regulated by sterol levels in the cell. Altogether, the purpose of this study was to explore the effect and underlying mechanism of Sestrin2 on lipid accumulation after exercise training. Methods Male wild type and SESN2−/− mice were divided into normal chow (NC) and high-fat diet (HFD) groups to create insulin resistance mice model. After 8 weeks the IR model group was then divided into HFD sedentary control and HFD exercise groups (HE). Mice in HE group underwent 6-week treadmill exercise to reveal the effect of exercise training on lipid metabolism in insulin resistance model induced by HFD. We explored the mechanism through which Sestrin2 regulated lipid metabolism in vitro by supplying palmitate, overexpressing or inhibiting SESNs, SHIP2 and JNK in myotubes. Results We found that 6-week exercise training decreased body weight, BMI and fat mass in wild type and SESN2-/- mice after high-fat diet (HFD) feeding. And exercise training decreased the level of plasma glucose, serum insulin, triglycerides and free fatty acids in wild type but not in Sestrin2-/- mice. Lipid droplet in skeletal muscle was also decreased in wild type but did not in Sestrin2-/- mice. Moreover, exercise training increased the proteins expression involved in fatty acid oxidation and decreased the proteins which related to fatty acid de novo synthesis. The results of oil red staining and the change of proteins related to fatty acid de novo synthesis and beta oxidation in myotubes treated with palmitate, Ad-SESN2 and siRNA-Sestrin2 were consisted with the results in vivo, which suggested that Sestrin2 was a key regulator in lipid metabolism. Exercise training increased Sestrin2 expression and reversed up-regulation of SHIP2 and pJNK induced by HFD in wild type mice but not in Sestrin2-/- mice. In parallel, overexpression of Sestrin2 decreased the level of SHIP2 and pJNK induced by palmitate while Sestrin2 knock down by siRNA-Sestrin2 treatment did not change the expression of SHIP2 and pJNK, which suggested that Sestrin2 modulated SHIP2 and JNK in the state of abnormal lipid metabolism. Inhibition of SHIP2 reduced the activity of JNK, increased lipid accumulation and the proteins of fatty acid synthesis after palmitate treatment and over expression of Sestrin2, which suggest that Sestrin2 modulated lipid metabolism through SHIP2/JNK pathway. Conclusions Sestrin2 plays an important role in improving lipid metabolism after exercise training, and Sestrin2 regulates lipid metabolism by SHIP2-JNK pathway in skeletal muscle

    Mapping of nighttime light trends and refugee population changes in Ukraine during the Russian–Ukrainian War

    The nighttime lights accurately and coherently depict how humans live. This study uses nighttime light measurements to quantify changes in nighttime lighting and refugee population in Ukraine before and after the war. We combined the Theil–Sen estimator with the M-K test to explore the trends of nighttime light. In addition, we constructed a linear model using nighttime light data and a portion of the UNHCR refugee data. Our results reveal that 1 week after the start of the Russo-Ukrainian War, the nighttime light area and the average nighttime light DN value in Ukraine exhibited a steep decline of about 50 percent. Our findings showed taht refugee population changes calculated through models and nighttime light data were mostly consistent with UNHCR data. We thought that the nighttime light data might be used directly to dynamically estimate changes in the refugee movement throughout the war. Nighttime light changes has significant implications for international humanitarian assistance and post-war reconstruction
