A Parallel FP-Growth Mining Algorithm with Load Balancing Constraints for Traffic Crash Data

    Get PDF
Traffic safety is an important part of the roadway in sustainable development. Freeway traffic crashes typically cause serious casualties and property losses, being a serious threat to public safety. Figuring out the potential correlation between various risk factors and revealing their coupling mechanisms are of effective ways to explore and identity freeway crash causes. However, the existing association rule mining algorithms still have some limitations in both efficiency and accuracy. Based on this consideration, using the freeway traffic crash data obtained from WDOT (Washington Department of Transportation), this research constructed a multi-dimensional multilevel system for traffic crash analysis. Considering the load balancing, the FP-Growth (Frequent Pattern- Growth) algorithm was optimized parallelly based on Hadoop platform, to achieve an efficient and accurate association rule mining calculation for massive amounts of traffic crash data; then, according to the results of the coupling mechanism among the crash precursors, the causes of freeway traffic crashes were identified and revealed. The results show that the parallel FPgrowth algorithm with load balancing constraints has a better operating speed than both the conventional FP-growth algorithm and parallel FP-growth algorithm towards processing big data. This improved algorithm makes full use of Hadoop cluster resources and is more suitable for large traffic crash data sets mining while retaining the original advantages of conventional association rule mining algorithm. In addition, the mining association rules model with the improvement of multi-dimensional interaction proposed in this research can catch the occurrence mechanism of freeway traffic crash with serious consequences (lower support degree probably) accurately and efficiently

Blasting Vibration Monitoring and a New Vibration Reduction Measure

Vibration waves generated by blasting can cause shock to buildings. Different responses occur in different parts of the building. Therefore, a single standard is inaccurate. At the same time, methods to reduce vibration are needed. In this paper, the variation of peak particle velocity (PPV) and principal frequency was analyzed. The energy variation of blast vibration waves was analyzed by wavelet packet decomposition. A numerical model was established to verify the new vibration reduction measure. The results showed that the PPV on the walls increases with their height. The PPV and principal frequency of different structures of single-story brick-concrete buildings are different. The amplification factor of PPV does not change much when the principal frequency ratio is larger than 0.75. Measuring points at different heights have different sensitivities to blasting vibration waves of different principal frequencies. Therefore, different structures will respond differently to the same blasting operation. The PPV can be reduced by waveform interference. However, the cycle of blasting vibration waves decreases with increasing distance. Therefore, it is necessary to determine a reasonable interval to reduce the PPV. This requires further research

The Simultaneous Interpolation of Target Radar Cross Section in Both the Spatial and Frequency Domains by Means of Legendre Wavelets Model-Based Parameter Estimation

The understanding of the target radar cross section (RCS) is significant for target identification and for radar designing and optimization. In this paper, a numerical algorithm for calculating target RCS is presented which is based on Legendre wavelet model-based parameter estimation (LW-MBPE). The Padé rational function fitting model applied for MBPE in the frequency domain is enhanced to include spatial dependence on the numerator and denominator coefficients. This allows the function to interpolate target RCS in both the frequency and spatial domains simultaneously. The combination of Legendre wavelets guarantees the convergence of the algorithm. The method is convergent by increasing the sampling frequency and spatial points. Numerical results are provided to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the new technique

Coffee grounds in chemical-looping gasification is an innovative handling approach of waste coffee grounds which couple the coffee grounds gasification and chemical looping technology together. By sol-gel method, the Fe4ATP6K1 compound oxygen carrier (OC) modified by KNO3 were prepared with Fe2O3 as an active component, natural attapugite (ATP) as an inert support. The effects of reaction temperature, steam flow as well as O/C molar ratio on coffee grounds in chemical looping gasification (CLG) were investigated in a fluidized bed using steam as gasification agent. It indicated that the Fe4ATP6K1 oxygen carrier could enhance the conversion of coffee grounds. Compared with SiO2 as bed material, the carbon conversion increased in CLG from 71.38% to 86.25%. The optimized conditions were presented as follows: the reaction temperature was 900°C, the water flow was 0.23 g·min-1, the O/C molar ratio was 1. Under these conditions, it was found that the average concentration of H2 reached a maximum value 52.75%, with the syngas production of 1.30 m3·kg-1 and H2 production of 83.79 g·kg-1, respectively. 20 redox cycles demonstrated that the Fe4ATP6K1 oxygen carrier has an excellent cyclic stability, the carbon conversion and cold gas efficiency were both above 75%, while the average gas concentration of gases were nearly stable
