The nature of superfuidity and Bose-Einstein condensation: from liquid ⁴He to dilute ultracold atomic gases (Review Article)
We present a brief overview of crucial historical stages in creation of superfluidity theory and of the current
state of the microscopic theory of superfluid
⁴He. We pay special attention to the role of Bose-Einstein condensates
(BECs) in understanding of physical mechanisms of superfluidity and identification of quantum mechanical
structure of
⁴He superfluid component below -point, in particular — the possibility that at least two types of
condensates may appear and coexist simultaneously in superfluid
⁴He. In this context we discuss the properties
of the binary mixtures of BECs and types of excitations, which may appear due to intercomponent interaction in
such binary mixtures of condensates. We also discuss current status of investigations of persistent currents in toroidal
optical traps and present an outlook of our recent findings on this subject
Stable spatial envelope wave structures in plasmas
Conditions for formation of two- and three-dimensional localized envelope soliton-like structures in plasmas are investigated. These structures are described by modified nonlinear Schrцdinger equation, including higher order linear and nonlinear effects. It is shown that higher order effects are crucial to explain formation of localized structures, which have been observed in plasmas. Stability of stationary soliton-like structures is investigated. Obtained results are applied to interpretation of the experiments on Langmuir solitons generation in electron-beam plasma systems.
Pulse Shape Analysis and Identification of Multipoint Events in a Large-Volume Proportional Counter in an Experimental Search for 2K Capture Kr-78
A pulse shape analysis algorithm and a method for suppressing the noise
component of signals from a large copper proportional counter in the experiment
aimed at searching for 2K capture of Kr-78 are described. These signals
correspond to a compound event with different numbers of charge clusters due to
from primary ionization is formed by these signals. A technique for separating
single- and multipoint events and determining the charge in individual clusters
is presented. Using the Daubechies wavelets in multiresolutional signal
analysis, it is possible to increase the sensitivity and the resolution in
extraction of multipoint events in the detector by a factor of 3-4.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures. submitted to Instruments and Experimental

Tracking azimuthons in nonlocal nonlinear media
We study the formation of azimuthons, i.e., rotating spatial solitons, in
media with nonlocal focusing nonlinearity. We show that whole families of these
solutions can be found by considering internal modes of classical non-rotating
stationary solutions, namely vortex solitons. This offers an exhaustive method
to identify azimuthons in a given nonlocal medium. We demonstrate formation of
azimuthons of different vorticities and explain their properties by considering
the strongly nonlocal limit of accessible solitons.Comment: 11 pages, 7 figure
Analogues of Josephson junctions and black hole event horizons in atomic Bose–Einstein condensates
We study dynamical processes in coherently coupled atomic Bose–Einstein condensates. Josephson effects in
ring-shaped and dumbbell geometries are theoretically investigated. Conditions for observation of the Josephson
effect are revealed. We found that multicharged persistent current in toroidal condensate can be robust even for
supersonic atomic flow. In numerical simulations the acoustic analogues of event horizon in quantized superflow
were observed. These theoretical finding open perspectives for investigation of Bose Josephson junctions and
quantum aspects of acoustic analogue of Hawking radiation in existing experimental setups.Вивчено динамічні процеси у когерентно зв’язаному
