    Get PDF

Adaptive Fuzzy-PID Controller for Liquid Flow Control in the Heating Tank System

    Get PDF
Liquid flow control systems are often used in some industrial processes. One of the problems is the existence of disturbance that can cause the flow response to become unstable. Thus, it is necessary to re-tuning the controller when the disturbance occurs. This study aims to design and implement an Adaptive Fuzzy-PID (AF-PID) controller for the liquid flow control in the heating tank system. We develop an industrial plant prototype of a heating tank process to test the designed controller on a laboratory scale. AF-PID controller is used to controlling the flow rate when the disturbance occurs. The nominal PID controller constants will adjust by additional PID constants when there is a disturbance based on the Mamdani type fuzzy logic rule. The hardware experimental result shows that the designed controller can maintain the stability of the liquid flow when given 50% and 100% pipe leakages with maximum undershot by 3.33% and 24% respectively

This research aims to identify the type of culture at a High Performance School (HPS) and Low Performance School (LPS) in the state of Kedah. The research instrument used to measure the type of organizational culture was adapted from Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (Cameron & Quinn, 2006) based on Competing Values Framework Quinn and Rohrbaugh (1983) Model. Two HPSs and two LPSs representing 129 teachers were chosen as research samples.Research findings showed that the current dominant culture in both HPS and LPS is Hierarchy (M=36.76, M=30.63 & SD = 8.23, SD=7.83) consecutively. Both types of schools practice Market culture and the average scores for both types of schools are the same whereby HPS (M=25.7,SD=8.56) and LPS (M=25.94, SD=8.32). However, HPS practices less Clan culture (M=21.15, SD=8.74) compared to LPS (M=24.18, SD=6.97). The Clan culture is more prominent in LPS compared to HPS. Both types of schools practice Adhocracy less which are (M=17.75, SD=6.94) in HPS and (M=19.81, SD=6.78) in LPS respectively. The findings showed that teachers in both types of schools would like to have the Clan culture practiced in their schools with the same average scores, M=34.89, SD=8.22. HPS prefers the Market culture (M=26.01, SD=6.32) compared to LPS Market culture (M=23.01, SD=.22). However they accepted Adhocracy less in HPS (M=20.02, SD=8.31) and LPS (M=21.58, SD=7.89). Nevertheless, Hierarchy culture in HPS (M=19.32, SD=6.45) and in LPS (M=21.05, SD=6.68) are widely practiced. From the comparisons made, it can be concluded that both types of schools widely practice the Hierarchy and Market cultures in schools. The recommendations for further studies were also suggested

This quantitative study used cross-sectional survey approach to collect data on current situation of moral competency and Teacher Quality Standards practice. A Stratified random and multistage sampling techniques were used to select 142 samples from the study population of teachers in National schools in Kedah, Perlis and Penang in Malaysia. The instruments used were the Moral Judgment Test (MJT) (Lind, 2000) and the College Teaching Behaviours Inventory (CTBI) (Braxton, & Bayer, 2003). The results showed significant differences in moral competencies based on age, gender, number of subjects taught, and teaching experience, and significant differences in terms of Teacher Quality Standards based on age, teaching experience, and number of subjects taught. These results provided a basic knowledge of the Teacher Quality Standards practice in national schools and its relationship to moral competency based on demographic and experience in school aspects. National school teachers who practiced Teacher Quality Standards demonstrated that they have the capacity for moral competency in self-governance by applying Teacher Quality Standards when making decisions and considerations in selecting ethical practices in developing national education in the future

Battery-Supercapacitor Current Control Using Fuzzy Supervisory with PI Controller for Electric Vehicle Application

    Get PDF
The configuration of the battery-supercapacitor as a hybrid power source (HPS) is one solution to overcome the limitations of battery life, such as in an electric vehicle. To achieve battery energy savings when a supercapacitor is added, a control scheme is needed. This paper proposes a battery-supercapacitor current sharing control scheme using Fuzzy Supervisory Control (FSC). The FSC is designed to determine how much current of the battery and supercapacitor need to discharge based on the current requirement of the load. The output of the FSC will produce a reference current which is then controlled in the main closed-loop control using a Proportional-Integral (PI) controller. The control signal in the form of a duty cycle is then used to regulate the battery-supercapacitor current through a DC/DC converter. This control scheme is tested using a resistive load change scenario both simulation and experimental. The results show that the battery-supercapacitor current can be controlled according to the loading conditions
