How to Measure and Identify the Ultimate Improvement Required for Customer Satisfaction

    Get PDF
In current hypercompetitive markets, customer satisfaction is one of major requirements that enable the company to generate some benefits to their business. This is also including the relationship with the customers as a good foundation for the creation of loyalty and repeat purchase of customers. However, the customer requirements are much more technically complex than in consumer market, especially in service sector. On the other hand, the analysis of importance and performance assumed on Kano method to measure customer satisfaction also lead to misleading the implications of customer satisfaction since some scholars use this technique into symmetric and linear relationships between attribute level performances. In this study, we poposes the approach on how to find the priority improvement or the most significant element required for improvement based on Kano method as a measurement basis ; using Kano manipulating graph, ranking level, and then a simplification approach toward the graphs to enable the priorities / significant element required for improvement determined and justified. To justify the approach proposed, some trials carried out in service companies as the case of study

Design and implementation of an android and web-based university timetable customization system

    Get PDF
Timetabling is an essential component of scheduling in all sectors of education. University timetabling entails the scheduling of times and venues for lectures and examinations. These activities are logically structured in a time-wise manner and presented on papers and placed on notice boards in order to avoid conflicts of event. However, timetable schedule forgetfulness, misinterpretation, miscopying, cost of rescheduling and slow time to reach for the rescheduled timetables are the challenges posed by the use of paper and notice board-based timetables; hence, the need for automated timetables. In this paper, we discuss the implementation of Android and web-based timetable customization systems for the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Bayero University, Kano-Nigeria. The web-based system provides an administrative module that facilitates scheduling and rescheduling of lecture, examination and invigilation timetables. In addition, the Android timetable customization system permits the user to view, customize, set reminders and provide rescheduled timetable updates. Keywords: Android, Customization, Timetable and Web base

On Investigating the C-transition Curve for Noise Reduction

    Get PDF
Among the application of a transition curve is to design the curvature of a highway to ensure smoothness of a moving vehicle in high speed. Investigation on C-Transition Curve (CTC) is presented here on its effect to reduce noise due to airflow. A simple C-Transition Curve is generated from mathematical calculation using a parametric equation and the Computer Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model is developed to assess the turbulence flow generated on the surface of the C-Transition Curve structure. Analysis is also conducted on a semi-circle shape for comparison. It is found that the structure constructed from the C-Transition Curve gives lower Reynolds number. Validation through experiment is also conducted showing lower output of noise level from the C-Transition Curve structure

Experimental Study on Effect of Reflector Bed Designs Heated by Direct Solar Radiation for Hot Water Storage System

    Get PDF
The aim of this research is to investigate the performance of different reflector bed design heated by direct solar radiation for a water storage system that can be used in accordance with the climate of Malaysia country. In general, this research is related to thermal efficient water heating system, specifically to improve the water heating system that exists nowadays. The focus is to improve the thermal efficiency by adding different absorber bed designs. Based on experimental results shown the temperature of the water increases more efficient and faster by using the curve reflector bed

Experimental Evaluation of Performance of Different Thermal Boxes Heated by Solar Radiation for Hot Water Storage System

The aim of this research is to investigate the performance of different thermal boxes heated by solar radiation for a water storage system that can be used in accordance with the climate of Asia-Pacific countries. In general, this research is related to thermal efficient water heating system, specifically to improve the water heating system that exists nowadays. The focus is to improve the thermal efficiency by adding different thermal boxes as the absorber bed. By implementing the black body and radiation concept, the air trapped in the box is heated. The trapped air then increases the collisions between the molecules and directly increases the temperature inside the box, higher than the outside environment. Based on theory and concept purposed, the temperature of the water increases more efficient and faster by using radiation heat as the source. Based on 24 hours experimental results revealed steel thermal box is better to be used for tropical weather like Malaysi

THE MEASUREMENT OF HERZBERG’ EMPLOYEES SATISFACTION USING KANO METHOD

    Get PDF
This study is focused on how to measure and find out the employees satisfaction. Using Kano method and Likert scale which is developed in the questionnaire based on Herzberg theory related to Hygiene and Motivator factors, the results data of survey show inconsistency to each others. To find out what the elements for improvement priorities required by company, this study therefore proposes the Kano Manipulating Graph. This graph is generated based on Kano method related to quality attributes. The graphs show that the elements of Herzberg’s Hygiene factors related to employees satisfaction can be constructed in quadrant of the Dissatisfaction (DS↑) high and Not-Satisfaction (CS’↑) high toward Dysfunctional (DF↑) and Not-Functional (F’↑) high. In this study, the element of Hygiene factors related to supervisory work and activities for employees’ consultancy is the main improvement factor that should be taken immediately by company as a first priority

AN ANALYSIS OF QUALITY CRITERIA TO DETERMINE THE IMPROVEMENT PRIORITY ATTRIBUTES

    Get PDF
The focus of this study is on how to find out the improvement priorities for customer satisfaction. The identification, analysis, and evaluation conducted in this study is to the Voice of Customer (VoC) based on the service attributes of SERVQUAL.  To explore customer satisfaction, the survey distributed is through questionnaire developed using Kano method and Likert scale to the customers of event organizer in Selangor, especially the customers who are using their services for wedding events. While to find out what the attributes of service delivered as the elements for improvement required, the analysis conducted is through the integration of ranking level, customer satisfaction-dissatisfaction (CS-DS) values and graph, and their correlation. In this study, the statistical analysis conducted using SPSS is to construct the comparison between Kano method results against the quality attributes based on pairwise of Functional and Dysfunctional condition to find out the correlation and the relationship among the service elements identified. This study found that “The electronic service to communicate with customer (K1)” of the service attributes of “Responsiveness” is as the first priority improvement required by customer

MATHEMATICAL MODELLING OF THE PASSIVE AND SEMI-ACTIVE AUTOMOBILE SUSPENSION SYSTEMS IN FORD SCORPIO CAR MODEL

    Get PDF
The suspension is a system of spring or shock absorbers connecting the wheels and axles at the chassis of a vehicle. In this study, Ford Scorpio car with passive and semi-active suspension system are formulated using Second Order Differential Equations (ODE). These models were solved analytically using the undetermined coefficient and Cramer rule methods. The comparison between passive and semi-active suspension system also conducted to measure such as displacement, frequency and time by plotting graphs. The passive system resulted that a constant displacement roughly at 0.035 m while 0.025 m was obtained by a semi-active suspension system. Semi-active system took t = 1 s to yield a constant displacement while for the passive suspension system required t = 1.5 s. The comparison showed the semi-active results were better than a passive suspension system
