Direct observation of magnon-phonon coupling in yttrium iron garnet

    Get PDF
The magnetic insulator yttrium iron garnet (YIG) with a ferrimagnetic transition temperature of \sim560 K has been widely used in microwave and spintronic devices. Anomalous features in the spin Seeback effect (SSE) voltages have been observed in Pt/YIG and attributed to the magnon-phonon coupling. Here we use inelastic neutron scattering to map out low-energy spin waves and acoustic phonons of YIG at 100 K as a function of increasing magnetic field. By comparing the zero and 9.1 T data, we find that instead of splitting and opening up gaps at the spin wave and acoustic phonon dispersion intersecting points, magnon-phonon coupling in YIG enhances the hybridized scattering intensity. These results are different from expectations of conventional spin-lattice coupling, calling for new paradigms to understand the scattering process of magnon-phonon interactions and the resulting magnon-polarons.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, PRB in pres

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Large-insert BAC and BIBAC libraries are important tools for structural and functional genomics studies of eukaryotic genomes. To facilitate the construction of BAC and BIBAC libraries and the transfer of complete large BAC inserts into BIBAC vectors, which is desired in positional cloning, we developed a pair of new BAC and BIBAC vectors.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>The new BAC vector pIndigoBAC536-S and the new BIBAC vector BIBAC-S have the following features: 1) both contain two 18-bp non-palindromic I-<it>Sce</it>I sites in an inverted orientation at positions that flank an identical DNA fragment containing the <it>lac</it>Z selection marker and the cloning site. Large DNA inserts can be excised from the vectors as single fragments by cutting with I-<it>Sce</it>I, allowing the inserts to be easily sized. More importantly, because the two vectors contain different antibiotic resistance genes for transformant selection and produce the same non-complementary 3' protruding ATAA ends by I-<it>Sce</it>I that suppress self- and inter-ligations, the exchange of intact large genomic DNA inserts between the BAC and BIBAC vectors is straightforward; 2) both were constructed as high-copy composite vectors. Reliable linearized and dephosphorylated original low-copy pIndigoBAC536-S and BIBAC-S vectors that are ready for library construction can be prepared from the high-copy composite vectors pHZAUBAC1 and pHZAUBIBAC1, respectively, without the need for additional preparation steps or special reagents, thus simplifying the construction of BAC and BIBAC libraries. BIBAC clones constructed with the new BIBAC-S vector are stable in both <it>E. coli </it>and <it>Agrobacterium</it>. The vectors can be accessed through our website <url>http://GResource.hzau.edu.cn</url>.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>The two new vectors and their respective high-copy composite vectors can largely facilitate the construction and characterization of BAC and BIBAC libraries. The transfer of complete large genomic DNA inserts from one vector to the other is made straightforward.</p

Modal and harmonic response analysis of key components of robotic arm based on ANSYS

    Get PDF
To study the problem of vibration of harmonic response of robotic arm under the load, a three-dimensional model of the frame of the robotic arm was created in the Solidworks, then the model was imported into ANSYS for modal analysis. We obtained the frequency of natural vibration and the effect of response of the key components of robotic arm by above analysis. The natural frequency of the robotic arm can be kept away from the frequency of vibration of machine completely, and thus poor working conditions caused by resonance can be avoided. Next the analysis of harmonic response was also performed on the basis of modal analysis. According to the above analysis we obtained displacement diagram and stress distribution diagram of harmonic response. The analysis has a referenced value to design and improve the structure of robotic arm

Integration Methodology of Spare Parts Supply Network Optimization and Decision-making

    Get PDF
In order to optimize the spare parts supply network, a multi-objective optimization model is established with the objectives of the shortest supply time, the lowest risk, and the minimum supply cost. A decomposition-based multi-objective evolutionary algorithm with differential evolution strategy is introduced to solve the multi-objective model. A series of non-dominated solutions, that is, representing the optimal spare parts supply schemes are obtained. In order to comprehensively measure the performance of these solutions, suitable quantitative metrics are selected, and the secondary goal-based cross-efficiency Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model has been used to evaluate the efficiency of the obtained optimal schemes. The improved DEA model overcomes the problems that the efficient units cannot be sorted and the optimal weight is not unique in traditional DEA model. Finally, the self-evaluation efficiency and cross-evaluation efficiency of each scheme are obtained, and the optimal supply scheme is found based on their cross-evaluation efficiency.</p

Image Completion with Heterogeneously Filtered Spectral Hints

Image completion with large-scale free-form missing regions is one of the most challenging tasks for the computer vision community. While researchers pursue better solutions, drawbacks such as pattern unawareness, blurry textures, and structure distortion remain noticeable, and thus leave space for improvement. To overcome these challenges, we propose a new StyleGAN-based image completion network, Spectral Hint GAN (SH-GAN), inside which a carefully designed spectral processing module, Spectral Hint Unit, is introduced. We also propose two novel 2D spectral processing strategies, Heterogeneous Filtering and Gaussian Split that well-fit modern deep learning models and may further be extended to other tasks. From our inclusive experiments, we demonstrate that our model can reach FID scores of 3.4134 and 7.0277 on the benchmark datasets FFHQ and Places2, and therefore outperforms prior works and reaches a new state-of-the-art. We also prove the effectiveness of our design via ablation studies, from which one may notice that the aforementioned challenges, i.e. pattern unawareness, blurry textures, and structure distortion, can be noticeably resolved. Our code will be open-sourced at: https://github.com/SHI-Labs/SH-GAN.Comment: wacv2

Nucleolin links to arsenic-induced stabilization of GADD45α mRNA

    Get PDF
The present study shows that arsenic induces GADD45α (growth arrest and DNA damage inducible gene 45α) mainly through post-transcriptional mechanism. Treatment of the human bronchial epithelial cell line, BEAS-2B, with arsenic(III) chloride (As(3+)) resulted in a significant increase in GADD45α protein and mRNA. However, As(3+) only exhibited a marginal effect on the transcription of the GADD45α gene. The accumulation of GADD45α mRNA is largely achieved by the stabilization of GADD45α mRNA in the cellular response to As(3+). As(3+) is able to induce binding of mRNA stabilizing proteins, nucleolin and less potently, HuR, to the GADD45α mRNA. Although As(3+) was unable to affect the expression of nucleolin, treatment of the cells with As(3+) resulted in re-distribution of nucleolin from nucleoli to nucleoplasm. Silencing of the nucleolin mRNA by RNA interference reversed As(3+)-induced stabilization of the GADD45α mRNA and accumulation of the GADD45α protein. Stabilization of GADD45α mRNA, thus, represents a novel mechanism contributing to the production of GADD45α and cell cycle arrest in response to As(3+)

A New Characteristic Nonconforming Mixed Finite Element Scheme for Convection-Dominated Diffusion Problem

    Get PDF
A characteristic nonconforming mixed finite element method (MFEM) is proposed for the convection-dominated diffusion problem based on a new mixed variational formulation. The optimal order error estimates for both the original variable u and the auxiliary variable σ with respect to the space are obtained by employing some typical characters of the interpolation operator instead of the mixed (or expanded mixed) elliptic projection which is an indispensable tool in the traditional MFEM analysis. At last, we give some numerical results to confirm the theoretical analysis
