Antigenicity of the peptide of ribosomal digest in Ehrlich ascites tumor was studied. The peptide was purified by DEAE Sephadex A-50 column chromatography. The peptide was electrophoretically basic, single, and 1.32 S20w sedimentation coefficient with poor content of tyrosine and phenylalanine. The maximum absorbancy was at 267 mμ. Mice and rabbits were immunized with the mixture of the purified peptide with Freund's complete adjuvant. The inhibitory effect of immune γ-globulin on the tumor growth was demonstrated in vitro cultured JTC-11 cells. A single precipitin line was observed between rabbit antiserum and tumor cell extract of Ehrlich ascites cells in ouchterlony double diffusion chamber and immunoelectrophoresis. The sedimentation coefficient of the effective fraction in immune-serum was 17 S20w. The precipitin line was observed at β2-γ region in immunoelectrophoresis.</p

Antigenicity of ribosomal digest of Ehrlich ascites tumor was studied in vivo. Antitumor activity was observed by intraperitoneal transplantation of Ehrlich ascites cells, comparing with body weight between control group and immunized ones, which were treated with tumor ribosomal digest. The body weight increasing curve in case of 100~500×10(4) Ehrlich ascites cells inoculum was no visible differences between control group and immunized ones. The antitumor effect was visible inc ase of 50×10(4) tumor cells inoculum, the LD50 of immunized group was 16 days and that of ontrol 14 days. The effect was more clearly observed in case of 10×10(4) tumor cells inoculum. The LD50 of immunized group was 17 days and that of control 14 days. No visible effect were in mice transplanted with Ehrlich ascites cells on the back between control and immunized group. Neutralization experiment with rabbit anti-serum prepared by Ehrlich ascites tumor ribosomal digest was observed by multiple dilution method. The effect was most strong at 0.2ml of anti-serum for 50×10(4) tumor cells

Turning motion of a ship with single CPP and single rudder during stopping maneuver under windy condition

This paper describes the results of experimental and simulation studies that aimed at investigating the characteristics of the stopping motion of a ship with a single controllable pitch propeller (CPP) and single rudder. In a full-scale experiment, stopping tests were performed to compare the stopping motion between CPP ships and that of fixed pitch propeller (FPP) ships and the turning motion of a CPP ship was found to be less stable than that of a FPP ship, particularly under windy condition. A simulation study was also conducted to investigate the effect of wind on the stopping motion of CPP ships by which it can be proved that CPP ships are forced to turn her head windward and to drift leeward considerably under beam or quarter wind conditions. Based on the results of these full-scale and simulation studies, a method can be proposed to estimate the critical range of stopping maneuver without tug assistance and effective stopping maneuver for berthing and anchoring under windy condition
