A Comparative Study of within QCD Sum Rules with Two Typical Correlators up to Next-to-Leading Order
The B-decay constant is an important component for studying -meson
decays, which can be studied through QCD sum rules. We make a detailed
discussion on from two sum rules, i.e. sum rules I and II, which are
derived from the conventional correlator and the correlator with chiral
currents respectively. It is found that these two sum rules are consistent with
each other. However, the sum rules II has less uncertainty sources than that of
sum rules I, and then it can be more accurate if we know the dimension-four
gluon condensate well. It is found that decreases with the increment of
, and to compare with the Belle experimental data on , both sum rules
prefer smaller pole -quark mass, GeV. By varying all the
input parameters in their reasonable region and adding all the uncertainties
together in quadrature, we obtain MeV for sum rules I and
MeV for sum rules II.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures, 2 tables. To match the printed version. To be

Comparison of Structural Development and Biochemical Accumulation of Waxy and Non-waxy Wheat Caryopses
This study was conducted to compare structural development and biochemical accumulation of waxy and non-waxy wheat (NW) caryopses. The caryopses’ microstructure of the waxy wheat (WW) and NW cultivars at different developmental stages were observed under light, fluorescence, and scanning electron microscope. The results were as follows: Compared with NW,WWhad a shorter maturation duration, which was reflected in several following characteristics. Programmed cell death of the pericarp began earlier, and the chlorophyll-containing layer in the pericarp was smaller. Vacuoles in chalazal cells accumulated more tannins at different developmental stages. Starch granules and protein bodies in the endosperm showed a higher accumulation level in developing caryopses, and aleurone cells were larger in size with larger numbers of aleurone grains. An analysis of the element content indicated that the mineral elements Mg, P, K, and Ca exhibited a higher content, while the heavy elements Cr, Cd, and Pb exhibited a lower content in the aleurone layer
Modulated Entanglement Evolution Via Correlated Noises
We study entanglement dynamics in the presence of correlated environmental
noises. Specifically, we investigate the quantum entanglement dynamics of two
spins in the presence of correlated classical white noises, deriving Markov
master equation and obtaining explicit solutions for several interesting
classes of initial states including Bell states and X form density matrices. We
show how entanglement can be enhanced or reduced by the correlation between the
two participating noises.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures. To be published in Quantum Information

Controlling suction by vapour equilibrium technique at different temperatures, application to the determination of the water retention properties of MX80 clay
Problems related to unsaturated soils are frequently encountered in
geotechnical or environmental engineering works. In most cases, for the purpose
of simplicity, the problems are studied by considering the suction effects on
volume change or shear strength under isothermal conditions. Under isothermal
condition, very often, a temperature independent water retention curve is
considered in the analysis, which is obviously a simplification. When the
temperature changes are too significant to be neglected, it is necessary to
account for the thermal effects. In this paper, a method for controlling
suction using the vapour equilibrium technique at different temperatures is
presented. First, calibration of various saturated saline solutions was carried
out from temperature of 20 degrees C to 60 degrees C. A mirror psychrometer was
used for the measurement of relative humidity generated by saturated saline
solutions at different temperatures. The results obtained are in good agreement
with the data from the literature. This information was then used to determine
the water retention properties of MX80 clay, which showed that the retention
curve is shifting down with increasing of temperature
Zero retinal vein pulsation amplitude extrapolated model in non-invasive intracranial pressure estimation
Intracranial pressure (ICP) includes the brain, optic nerve, and spinal cord pressures; it influences blood flow to those structures. Pathological elevation in ICP results in structural damage through various mechanisms, which adversely affects outcomes in traumatic brain injury and stroke. Currently, invasive procedures which tap directly into the cerebrospinal fluid are required to measure this pressure. Recent fluidic engineering modelling analogous to the ocular vascular flow suggests that retinal venous pulse amplitudes are predictably influenced by downstream pressures, suggesting that ICP could be estimated by analysing this pulse signal. We used this modelling theory and our photoplethysmographic (PPG) retinal venous pulse amplitude measurement system to measure amplitudes in 30 subjects undergoing invasive ICP measurements by lumbar puncture (LP) or external ventricular drain (EVD). We estimated ICP from these amplitudes using this modelling and found it to be accurate with a mean absolute error of 3.0 mmHg and a slope of 1.00 (r = 0.91). Ninety-four percent of differences between the PPG and invasive method were between − 5.5 and + 4.0 mmHg, which compares favourably to comparisons between LP and EVD. This type of modelling may be useful for understanding retinal vessel pulsatile fluid dynamics and may provide a method for non-invasive ICP measurement
High-pressure behaviors of carbon nanotubes
In this paper, we have reviewed the experimental and theoretical studies on pressure-induced polygonization, ovalization, racetrack–shape deformation, and polymerization of carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The corresponding electronic, optical, and mechanical changes accompanying these behaviors have been discussed. The transformations of armchair (n, n) CNT bundles (n = 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8) under hydrostatic or nonhydrostatic pressure into new carbons, including recently proposed superhard bct-C₄, Cco-C₈, and B-B1AL2R2 carbon phases have also been demonstrated. Given the diversity of CNTs from various chiralities, diameters, and arrangements, pressure-induced CNT polymerization provides a promising approach to produce numerous novel metastable carbons exhibiting unique electronic, optical, and mechanical characteristics. Multiscale Modeling-Based Assessment of Elastic Properties of SLGS-Polymer Nanocomposites with Double-Atom Vacancy Defects
In this study, which is a continuation of our earlier work, the effect of double-atom vacancy defects (DAVD) on the elastic properties of single-layered graphene sheets (SLGS)-polymer nanocomposites is assessed by the multiscale modeling. According to the latter approach, the polymer matrix is modeled by finite element approach, while the SLGS and interphase layer are simulated at the atomistic scale by the molecular structural mechanics approach. In view of the Lennard–Jones potential concept, it is assumed that the SLGS and polymer matrix are related by van der Waals reciprocity. The fact that the elastic modulus of a polymer with 5% volume fraction of SLGS is increased by 17 times is demonstrated by numerous simulation results. It is also shown that the elastic modulus of SLGS-polymer nanocomposites with DAVDs is deteriorated with an increase in the number of DAVDs and improved with the increased volume fraction of SLGS.
Effect of Double-Atom Vacancy Defects on the Elastic Properties of Single-Layered Graphene Sheets
A molecular structural mechanics approach is used to study the effect of double-atom vacancy defects (DAVD) on the elastic properties of zigzag and armchair single-layered graphene sheets (SLGS). To this end, the space frame structure is also adopted to model the interatomic forces of the C–C bonds. The numerical simulation results obtained via the finite element method strongly suggest that double-atom vacancy defects reduce the elastic module of SLGS, which effect weakens with graphene size. Finally, the elastic modulus and Poisson’s ratio of SLGS are found to decrease with the number of DAVDS.
