This paper deals with the evaluation of the preservation interest of two Quaternary localites with aeolian
deposits, Barranco de los Encantados and Cantera Melian, from the Fuerteventura Island (Canary Islands).
Their scientific, social and cultural importance has been evaluated. It is noteworthy to signify that thay are
the type localities of a new terrestrial gastropod species belonging to genus Cochlicella. Due to mining
activities are destroying both deposits, their inclusion in the maximum level of legal protection has been
proposed (Paleontological Zone according to 4/1999 law on Canarian Historical Heritage)
Entropy in the cusp and phase transitions for geodesic flows
In this paper we study the geodesic flow for a particular class of Riemannian
non-compact manifolds with variable pinched negative sectional curvature. For a
sequence of invariant measures we are able to prove results relating the loss
of mass and bounds on the measure entropies. We compute the entropy
contribution of the cusps. We develop and study the corresponding thermodynamic
formalism. We obtain certain regularity results for the pressure of a class of
potentials. We prove that the pressure is real analytic until it undergoes a
phase transition, after which it becomes constant. Our techniques are based on
the one side on symbolic methods and Markov partitions and on the other on
geometric techniques and approximation properties at level of groups.Comment: 34 pages, 4 figures. In this new version we have improved the

Test function: A new approach for covering the central subspace
In this paper we offer a complete methodology for sufficient dimension
reduction called the test function (TF). TF provides a new family of methods
for the estimation of the central subspace (CS) based on the introduction of a
nonlinear transformation of the response. Theoretical background of TF is
developed under weaker conditions than the existing methods. By considering
order 1 and 2 conditional moments of the predictor given the response, we
divide TF in two classes. In each class we provide conditions that guarantee an
exhaustive estimation of the CS. Besides, the optimal members are calculated
via the minimization of the asymptotic mean squared error deriving from the
distance between the CS and its estimate. This leads us to two plug-in methods
which are evaluated with several simulations
