Effect of depreciation of the public goods in spatial public goods games
In this work, depreciated effect of the public goods is considered in the
public goods games, which is realized by rescaling the multiplication factor r
of each group as r' = r(nc/G)^beta (beat>= 0). It is assumed that each
individual enjoys the full profit of the public goods if all the players of
this group are cooperators, otherwise, the value of the public goods is reduced
to r'. It is found that compared with the original version (beta = 0),
emergence of cooperation is remarkably promoted for beta > 0, and there exit
optimal values of beta inducing the best cooperation. Moreover, the optimal
plat of beta broadens as r increases. Furthermore, effect of noise on the
evolution of cooperation is studied, it is presented that variation of
cooperator density with the noise is dependent of the value of beta and r, and
cooperation dominates over most of the range of noise at an intermediate value
of beta = 1.0. We study the initial distribution of the multiplication factor
at beta = 1.0, and find that all the distributions can be described as Gauss
distribution

Amino acid residues 24-31 but not palmitoylation of cysteines 30 and 45 are required for membrane anchoring of glutamic acid decarboxylase, GAD65.
The smaller isoform of the GABA synthesizing enzyme glutamic acid decarboxylase, GAD65, is synthesized as a soluble protein that undergoes post-translational modification(s) in the NH2-terminal region to become anchored to the membrane of small synaptic-like microvesicles in pancreatic beta cells, and synaptic vesicles in GABA-ergic neurons. A soluble hydrophilic form, a soluble hydrophobic form, and a hydrophobic firmly membrane-anchored form have been detected in beta cells. A reversible and hydroxylamine sensitive palmitoylation has been shown to distinguish the firmly membrane-anchored form from the soluble yet hydrophobic form, suggesting that palmitoylation of cysteines in the NH2-terminal region is involved in membrane anchoring. In this study we use site-directed mutagenesis to identify the first two cysteines in the NH2-terminal region, Cys 30 and Cys 45, as the sites of palmitoylation of the GAD65 molecule. Mutation of Cys 30 and Cys 45 to Ala results in a loss of palmitoylation but does not significantly alter membrane association of GAD65 in COS-7 cells. Deletion of the first 23 amino acids at the NH2 terminus of the GAD65 30/45A mutant also does not affect the hydrophobicity and membrane anchoring of the GAD65 protein. However, deletion of an additional eight amino acids at the NH2 terminus results in a protein which is hydrophilic and cytosolic. The results suggest that amino acids 24-31 are required for hydrophobic modification and/or targeting of GAD65 to membrane compartments, whereas palmitoylation of Cys 30 and Cys 45 may rather serve to orient or fold the protein at synaptic vesicle membranes
: An Excellent Candidate of Tetraquarks
We analyze various possible interpretations of the narrow state
which lies 100 MeV above threshold. This interesting state
decays mainly into instead of . If this relative branching
ratio is further confirmed by other experimental groups, we point out that the
identification of either as a state or more generally
as a state in the representation is probably
problematic. Instead, such an anomalous decay pattern strongly indicates
is a four quark state in the representation
with the quark content . We discuss its
partners in the same multiplet, and the similar four-quark states composed of a
bottom quark . Experimental searches of other members
especially those exotic ones are strongly called for
A multi-view approach to cDNA micro-array analysis
The official published version can be obtained from the link below.Microarray has emerged as a powerful technology that enables biologists to study thousands of genes simultaneously, therefore, to obtain a better understanding of the gene interaction and regulation mechanisms. This paper is concerned with improving the processes involved in the analysis of microarray image data. The main focus is to clarify an image's feature space in an unsupervised manner. In this paper, the Image Transformation Engine (ITE), combined with different filters, is investigated. The proposed methods are applied to a set of real-world cDNA images. The MatCNN toolbox is used during the segmentation process. Quantitative comparisons between different filters are carried out. It is shown that the CLD filter is the best one to be applied with the ITE.This work was supported in part by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research

Classical simulation of quantum many-body systems with a tree tensor network
We show how to efficiently simulate a quantum many-body system with tree
structure when its entanglement is bounded for any bipartite split along an
edge of the tree. This is achieved by expanding the {\em time-evolving block
decimation} simulation algorithm for time evolution from a one dimensional
lattice to a tree graph, while replacing a {\em matrix product state} with a
{\em tree tensor network}. As an application, we show that any one-way quantum
computation on a tree graph can be efficiently simulated with a classical
computer.Comment: 4 pages,7 figure
Negative-Index Refraction in a Lamellar Composite with Alternating Single Negative Layers
Negative-index refraction is achieved in a lamellar composite with
epsilon-negative (ENG) and mu-negative (MNG) materials stacked alternatively.
Based on the effective medium approximation, simultaneously negative effective
permittivity and permeability of such a lamellar composite are obtained
theoretically and further proven by full-wave simulations. Consequently, the
famous left-handed metamaterial comprising split ring resonators and wires is
interpreted as an analogy of such an ENG-MNG lamellar composite. In addition,
beyond the effective medium approximation, the propagating field squeezed near
the ENG/MNG interface is demonstrated to be left-handed surface waves with
backward phase velocity.Comment: 18 pages, 6 figure
