    Distributed Hypothesis Testing with Privacy Constraints

    We revisit the distributed hypothesis testing (or hypothesis testing with communication constraints) problem from the viewpoint of privacy. Instead of observing the raw data directly, the transmitter observes a sanitized or randomized version of it. We impose an upper bound on the mutual information between the raw and randomized data. Under this scenario, the receiver, which is also provided with side information, is required to make a decision on whether the null or alternative hypothesis is in effect. We first provide a general lower bound on the type-II exponent for an arbitrary pair of hypotheses. Next, we show that if the distribution under the alternative hypothesis is the product of the marginals of the distribution under the null (i.e., testing against independence), then the exponent is known exactly. Moreover, we show that the strong converse property holds. Using ideas from Euclidean information theory, we also provide an approximate expression for the exponent when the communication rate is low and the privacy level is high. Finally, we illustrate our results with a binary and a Gaussian example

    Home yard has been used to plant certain medicinal plants, also as known as TOGA program. This research was aimed to study the implementation of TOGA program and community tradition in planting and using medicinal plants. A qualitative research was conducted in West Java, Central Java, East Java and Bali which based on National Basic Health Research 2010 data had the highest percentage of jamu USAge. Data was collected in 2011 through in depth interview and focus group discussion with related stakeholder and observation in research location. Result in Bogor district showed TOGA program has been included in Family Welfare Development Program and similar program was also developed in some villages. There was no certain TOGA program in Karanganyar, Sumenep and Gianyar districts. TOGA program in Karanganyar was inserted in other program due to economic needs while in Gianyar the program was originated from ornamental plants. The community usually used medicinal plants for the prime medication before going to health facility. Planting medicinal plants is an inherited tradition where parents become the main source of planting and USAge information.     Epicardial fat thickness in patients with rheumatoid arthritis

    Background: Epidemiologic data indicates that rheumatoid arthritis is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Epicardial adipose tissue is a novel cardio-metabolic risk factor. Our aim was to evaluate epicardial fat thickness (EFT) using echocardiography in patients with rheumatoid arthritis compared to healthy control subjects. Secondly, we investigated relationship between epicardial fat thickness and clinical and echocardiographic parameters in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.Method: The study population included 76 consecutive patients with rheumatoid arthritis (64 female; mean age, 53 ±11 years, median disease duration, 7.8 years) and 50 healthy subjects as controls (39 female; mean age, 52 ± 6 years). All patients underwent echocardiography to assess left ventricular diastolic dysfunction, left ventricular hypertrophy and EFT. All values were compared between groups.Results: EFT was higher in rheumatoid arthritis patients than in healthy controls (0.66±0.20 vs. 0.54±0.18; p= 0.003). Thickness of Intra Ventricular Septum (IVS) (1.1±0.06 and 9.8±0.08; p=0.001) and posterior wall (PW) (0.98±0.05 and 0.93±0.08; p=0.015) was higher in patients with rheumatoid arthritis compared to healthy controls. Early diastolic myocardiac peak velocity or late diastolic mitral peak velocity (E/A) ratio was lower in rheumatoid arthritis patients compared to healthy patients (1.1 ±0.8 and 1.24±0.1 p=0.001) as well as, E/e’ was higher in Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients than healthy patients. (E/e’:8.7±1.6 and 8.0±1.4 p=0.020). In patients with rheumatoid arthritis, EFT was positively correlated with hypertension and duration of disease and E/e’ (r: 0.10, p: 0.010, r: 0.306, p: 0.004 and r: 0.465 p: 0.007 respectively) and EFT was negatively correlated with E/A (r: -.262 p:0.022 )Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the first report about epicardial adipose tissue in rheumatoid arthritis patients.     Background: Substance use disorder is serious problem nationally and globally, although its controlling effort is more considered as criminal rather than health matters. This probably due to the tight regulation of the substance which make illegal use of it is considered as law violation. Commitment of Indonesian government is very strong by setting up aNational Narcotics Bureau (BNN as coordinating and implementing body on narcotics related activities, including therapy and rehabilitation. There are at least five ministries involved in narcotics related activities. However there is different level of the narcotics office in each ministries, reflected their prioirty. Narcotics laws No. 35/2009 provides MOH the right to receive report from therapy and rehabilitation institutions. However it is not clearly stated that MOH is the only resposible body for such report, which meant that Narcotics bureau could also receive the report from its district branches in provinces which previously under the Provincial office. This article reviews the implementation of Narcotics Law No. 35/2009 and Health Law No. 36/2009 for narcotic patients ini DKI, DIY, Jabar, Jatim dan Bali. Methods: The objective is to provide inputs for prevention and treatment policy development to stirr more sinergism and coordinated among related institution. Results: The review identified that narcotic Law UU 35/2009 stated Provincial Narcotic Bureau (BNP) as part of BNN, not part of provincial institution as it used to be. This imply that BNP could have power to regulate treatment and rehabilitation. Provinces need law regulation for coordination between BNP and other provincial institutions, such as health office. social affair office, primary health care and district/provincial hospitals. Health financing is the most important issue whtch need clear regulation because involving several stakeholders, such as ministry of health, BNN, governor and ministry of human affairs

    Waiting for Precise Measurements of K^+->pi^+ nu nu and K_L->pi^0 nu nu

    In view of future plans for accurate measurements of the theoretically clean branching ratios Br(K+ -> pi+ nu nu) and Br(KL -> pi0 nu nu), that should take place in the next decade, we collect the relevant formulae for quantities of interest and analyze their theoretical and parametric uncertainties. We point out that in addition to the angle beta in the unitarity triangle (UT) also the angle gamma can in principle be determined from these decays with respectable precision and emphasize in this context the importance of the recent NNLO QCD calculation of the charm contribution to K+ -> pi+ nu nu and of the improved estimate of the long distance contribution by means of chiral perturbation theory. In addition to known expressions we present several new ones that should allow transparent tests of the Standard Model (SM) and of its extensions. While our presentation is centered around the SM, we also discuss models with minimal flavour violation and scenarios with new complex phases in decay amplitudes and meson mixing. We give a brief review of existing results within specific extensions of the SM, in particular the Littlest Higgs Model with T-parity, Z' models, the MSSM and a model with one universal extra dimension. We derive a new "golden" relation between B and K systems that involves (beta,gamma) and Br(KL -> pi0 nu nu) and investigate the virtues of (R_t,beta), (R_b,gamma), (beta,gamma) and (etabar,gamma) strategies for the UT in the context of K -> pi nu nu decays with the goal of testing the SM and its extensions.Comment: 56 pages, 18 figures, Section on Long Distance Contributions, 2 Figures and few References added, Uses Rev Mod Phys Style; Includes new results of NNLO calculation as well as matrix elements, extended and modified sections on new physic

    Diabetes mellitus, an incurable metabolic disease, is characterized by changes in the homeostasis of blood sugar levels, being the subcutaneous injection of insulin the first line treatment. This administration route is however associated with limited patients compliance, due to the risk of pain, discomfort and local infection. Nanoparticles have been proposed as insulin carriers to make possible the administration of the peptide via friendlier pathways without the need of injection, i.e., via oral or nasal routes. Nanoparticles stand for particles in the nanometer range that can be obtained from different materials (e.g., polysaccharides, synthetic polymers, lipid) and are commonly used with the aim to improve the physicochemical stability of the loaded drug and thereby its bioavailability.     Viroids: survivors from the RNA world?

    [EN] Because RNA can be a carrier of genetic information and a biocatalyst, there is a consensus that it emerged before DNA and proteins, which eventually assumed these roles and relegated RNA to intermediate functions. If such a scenario¿the so-calledRNAworld¿existed,wemight hope to find its relics in our presentworld. The properties of viroids that make them candidates for being survivors of the RNA world include those expected for primitive RNA replicons: (a) small size imposed by error-prone replication, (b) high G + C content to increase replication fidelity, (c) circular structure for assuring complete replication without genomic tags, (d ) structural periodicity for modular assembly into enlarged genomes, (e) lack of protein-coding ability consistent with a ribosome-free habitat, and ( f ) replication mediated in some by ribozymes, the fingerprint of the RNA world.
