Renormalization of the Fayet-Iliopoulos Term in Softly Broken SUSY Gauge Theories

It is shown that renormalization of the Fayet-Iliopoulos term in a softly broken SUSY gauge theory, in full analogy with all the other soft terms renormalizations, is completely defined in a rigid or an unbroken theory. However, contrary to the other soft renormalizations, there is no simple differential operator that acts on the renormalization functions of a rigid theory and allows one to get the renormalization of the F-I term. One needs an analysis of the superfield diagrams and some additional diagram calculations in components. The method is illustrated by the four loop calculation of some part of renormalization proportional to the soft scalar masses and the soft triple couplings.Comment: Latex2e, 14 pages, uses axodraw.sty. Schwinger-Dyson operator of Yang-Mills matrix models with ghosts and derivations of the graded shuffle algebra

We consider large-N multi-matrix models whose action closely mimics that of Yang-Mills theory, including gauge-fixing and ghost terms. We show that the factorized Schwinger-Dyson loop equations, expressed in terms of the generating series of gluon and ghost correlations G(xi), are quadratic equations S^i G = G xi^i G in concatenation of correlations. The Schwinger-Dyson operator S^i is built from the left annihilation operator, which does not satisfy the Leibnitz rule with respect to concatenation. So the loop equations are not differential equations. We show that left annihilation is a derivation of the graded shuffle product of gluon and ghost correlations. The shuffle product is the point-wise product of Wilson loops, expressed in terms of correlations. So in the limit where concatenation is approximated by shuffle products, the loop equations become differential equations. Remarkably, the Schwinger-Dyson operator as a whole is also a derivation of the graded shuffle product. This allows us to turn the loop equations into linear equations for the shuffle reciprocal, which might serve as a starting point for an approximation scheme.Comment: 13 pages, added discussion & references, title changed, minor corrections, published versio

    Strings, Matrix Models, and Meanders

I briefly review the present status of bosonic strings and discretized random surfaces in D>1 which seem to be in a polymer rather than stringy phase. As an explicit example of what happens, I consider the Kazakov-Migdal model with a logarithmic potential which is exactly solvable for any D (at large D for an arbitrary potential). I discuss also the meander problem and report some new results on its representation via matrix models and the relation to the Kazakov-Migdal model. A supersymmetric matrix model is especially useful for describing the principal meanders.Comment: 12 pages, 4 Latex figures, uses espcrc2.sty Talk at the 29th Ahrenshoop Symp., Buckow, Germany, Aug.29 - Sep.2, 199

Interplay between antioxidant activity, health and disease

The article discusses the relationship between oxidative stress (OS) and pathological conditions, the possibilities and benefits of estimating OS considering the integral antioxidant activity (AOA) as an OS criterion, and using a simple accessible hybrid potentiometric method (HPM) with a mediator system for AOA monitoring. The results of AOA of blood serum in healthy volunteers and patients with various diseases are presented. Preliminary reference values are found. The lower levels of AOA of blood serum in patients with different diseases in comparison with the control group are observed. The potential mechanisms of changes in the AOA levels and it’s clinical significance are discussed from the position of biointerfaces interplay. With AOA equal or greater than 1.40 mmol-eq l–1 the person is healthy, the range from 0.95 to 1.40 mmol-eq l–1 indicates that the patient is at risk and needs to undergo a further medical examination. When AOA blood serum is below 0.95 mmol-eq l–1, detailed diagnostics and relevant treatment are required. The findings allow suggesting that the approach determine antioxidant/oxidant activity of biological fluids holds considerable promise for monitoring OS; it opens up new opportunities in expanding the use of analytical chemistry in medicine. © 2019 by the authors

    Synthesis of superconducting pyrochlore RbOs2O6

RbOs2O6, the third superconducting pyrochlore oxide (known so far), has been synthesized by encapsulation and by high pressure techniques. Suitable post chemical treatment of the as-prepared sample allowed us to eliminate the impurity phases. Bulk superconductivity with Tc=6.4 K was observed in magnetisation and specific heat measurements. The transition temperature of RbOs2O6 was found to be the same for both preparation methods. Structural investigations showed that Rb atoms occupy the 8b site in the pyrochlore lattice with a lattice parameter of 10.1137(1) A.Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures, correction to one author name and Figure

The results by E. Gardner and B.Derrida have been enlarged for the complex temperatures and complex numbers of replicas. The phase structure is found. There is a connection with string models and their phase structure is analyzed from the REM's point of view.Comment: 11 pages, revte

Diagnostics of structural shifts in economy of peripheries in central region of southern Russia

The present state of the regional economic space is difficult to consider in isolation from the pattern of industrial specialization. In southern Russian regions, it is the currently aggravated socio-economic issues being determined by the crisis events and processes in the economy that make us adopt a new perspective to look at the need to establish a balanced spatial economic policy for preventing asymmetry and polarization in the development of separate territorie
