Being able to resort to a reliable and detailed source of all the sporting events of
the Peruvian clubs of League 1; and to be able to consult in time, information as
a result of seasonal sports matches, featured players, clubs with the most
championships, sports fouls, age of the players, economic level of the teams,
among other metrics, it is extremely scarce and generally the information is not
related, nor is it homogeneity. That interest in being able to consult everything in
a single general interface, was outlined as the objective of the project of this
thesis, the creation of a Dashboard in Power BI, and that online soccer pages
would be used as a data source, which, although it does not contain all the
metrics like other countries, was used for the creation of said dashboard
mentioned above. For this, the use of a web scraping technique was used in the
data collection phase, using an extension of Google Chrome, for being easy to
use and convenient to the project. In the development of this project, the
SCRUM methodology was used, based on 2 phases: one planning phase and
the other development phase for the development of the Dashboard. Step by
step it was published online, so that anyone interested can interact remotely
whenever they have privileged access. At the end of the development of the
project, the evaluation of dashboard was evaluated through a questionnaire
addressed to an expert group, and it was concluded that, despite the challenge
of little detailed information, a general report could be generated with different
views, this being a basis for more interesting analyzes in the futureTesi
Love: a guide for amateurs
This eBook has been produced by the Freud Museum London to explore our collective capacity for love. It is part of a series of events on the theme of Freud and Love. Freud & Eros: Love, Lust and Longing is a new exhibition at the Freud Museum London, running from 22 October 2014 – 8 March 2015. The exhibition looks at Sigmund Freud's revolutionary ideas on love and the libidinal drive through Freud's own art collection and his passionate courtship of his wife Martha Bernays. The exhibition is accompanied by an exciting programme of talks, performance, classes and events, including this ebook, event and conference. From January 2015 we will be asking you what you know about love - from how to get on with your family to how to turn your office into a love grotto. You are cordially invited to join us on this journey which we are calling #LoveAmateurs on @survivingwk and www.survivingwork.org
First Colonization of a Spectral Outpost in Random Matrix Theory
We describe the distribution of the first finite number of eigenvalues in a
newly-forming band of the spectrum of the random Hermitean matrix model. The
method is rigorously based on the Riemann-Hilbert analysis of the corresponding
orthogonal polynomials. We provide an analysis with an error term of order
N^(-2 h) where 1/h = 2 nu+2 is the exponent of non-regularity of the effective
potential, thus improving even in the usual case the analysis of the pertinent
literature. The behavior of the first finite number of zeroes (eigenvalues)
appearing in the new band is analyzed and connected with the location of the
zeroes of certain Freud polynomials. In general all these newborn zeroes
approach the point of nonregularity at the rate N^(-h) whereas one (a stray
zero) lags behind at a slower rate of approach. The kernels for the correlator
functions in the scaling coordinate near the emerging band are provided
together with the subleading term: in particular the transition between K and
K+1 eigenvalues is analyzed in detail.Comment: 32 pages, 8 figures (typo corrected in Formula 4.13); some reference

Capturing Desire: Rhetorical Strategies and the Affectivity of Discourse
In this article I argue that psychoanalytical theory can help us understand the emotional force of political rhetoric. I undertake a theoretical enquiry into the method of interpreting political speeches as strategies of affective persuasion. Both rhetorical and psychoanalytical studies converge in their concern with the production of ‘plausible stories’ that aim to fold psychic investments into political judgements. To capture desire, I claim, political rhetoric must articulate ‘symptomatic beliefs’ in relation to wider situational exigencies. I sketch three distinct psychoanalytical approaches, each of which emphasises a different scenario of unconscious organisation where rhetorical strategies are pertinent: namely Freudian, Kleinian, and Lacanian approaches. These are then applied to the example of a controversial rhetorical intervention – Enoch Powell’s infamous Birmingham speech of 1968 – to demonstrate the various potential focii when undertaking analysis
Endogenous fantasy and learning in digital games.
Many people believe that educational games are effective because they motivate children to actively engage in a learning activity as part of playing the game. However, seminal work by Malone (1981), exploring the motivational aspects of digital games, concluded that the educational effectiveness of a digital game depends on the way in which learning content is integrated into the fantasy context of the game. In particular, he claimed that content which is intrinsically related to the fantasy will produce better learning than that which is merely extrinsically related. However, this distinction between intrinsic and extrinsic (or endogenous and exogenous) fantasy is a concept that has developed a confused standing over the following years. This paper will address this confusion by providing a review and critique of the empirical and theoretical foundations of endogenous fantasy, and its relevance to creating educational digital games. Substantial concerns are raised about the empirical basis of this work and a theoretical critique of endogenous fantasy is offered, concluding that endogenous fantasy is a misnomer, in so far as the "integral and continuing relationship" of fantasy cannot be justified as a critical means of improving the effectiveness of educational digital games. An alternative perspective on the intrinsic integration of learning content is described, incorporating game mechanics, flow and representations
The recurrence coefficients of semi-classical Laguerre polynomials and the fourth Painlev\'e equation
We show that the coefficients of the three-term recurrence relation for
orthogonal polynomials with respect to a semi-classical extension of the
Laguerre weight satisfy the fourth Painlev\'e equation when viewed as functions
of one of the parameters in the weight. We compare different approaches to
derive this result, namely, the ladder operators approach, the isomonodromy
deformations approach and combining the Toda system for the recurrence
coefficients with a discrete equation. We also discuss a relation between the
recurrence coefficients for the Freud weight and the semi-classical Laguerre
weight and show how it arises from the B\"acklund transformation of the fourth
Painlev\'e equation.Comment: 18 page
Electrically-driven phase transition in magnetite nanostructures
Magnetite (FeO), an archetypal transition metal oxide, has been
used for thousands of years, from lodestones in primitive compasses[1] to a
candidate material for magnetoelectronic devices.[2] In 1939 Verwey[3] found
that bulk magnetite undergoes a transition at T 120 K from a
high temperature "bad metal" conducting phase to a low-temperature insulating
phase. He suggested[4] that high temperature conduction is via the fluctuating
and correlated valences of the octahedral iron atoms, and that the transition
is the onset of charge ordering upon cooling. The Verwey transition mechanism
and the question of charge ordering remain highly controversial.[5-11] Here we
show that magnetite nanocrystals and single-crystal thin films exhibit an
electrically driven phase transition below the Verwey temperature. The
signature of this transition is the onset of sharp conductance switching in
high electric fields, hysteretic in voltage. We demonstrate that this
transition is not due to local heating, but instead is due to the breakdown of
the correlated insulating state when driven out of equilibrium by electrical
bias. We anticipate that further studies of this newly observed transition and
its low-temperature conducting phase will shed light on how charge ordering and
vibrational degrees of freedom determine the ground state of this important
compound.Comment: 17 pages, 4 figure
Liquid racism and the Danish Prophet Muhammad cartoons
This is the author's accepted manuscript. The final published article is available from the link below. Copyright @ 2010 The Author. This article examines reactions to the October 2005 publication of the Prophet Muhammad cartoons in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten. It does so by using the concept of ‘liquid racism’. While the controversy arose because it is considered blasphemous by many Muslims to create images of the Prophet Muhammad, the article argues that the meaning of the cartoons is multidimensional, that their analysis is significantly more complex than most commentators acknowledge, and that this complexity can best be addressed via the concept of liquid racism. The article examines the liquidity of the cartoons in relation to four readings. These see the cartoons as: (1) a criticism of Islamic fundamentalism; (2) blasphemous images; (3) Islamophobic and racist; and (4) satire and a defence of freedom of speech. Finally, the relationship between postmodernity and the rise of fundamentalism is discussed because the cartoons, reactions to them, and Islamic fundamentalism, all contain an important postmodern dimension.ESR
