Objective To understand the distribution of eye diseases in the tested population, and to provide a reference basis for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. Methods A total of 7, 364 patients in the Health Management Center from June 2022 to September 2022 underwent eye examination, and the statistical analysis of their eye examination results was conducted by retrospective analysis. Results Of the 7, 364 patients, 6, 202 cases(84. 22%) had a history of eye disease or eye surgery, and the top five eye diseases were refractive error(75. 35%), cataract(18. 06%), pterygium(4. 09%), pinguecula(3. 57%), fundus tigre(2. 70%). Conclusion In the tested population, the prevalence of refractive error was the highest, followed by cataract, pterygium and so on in men Blebral spot, ptosis. More cataracts and fundus arteriosclerosis, and more women suffer from corneal diseases and trichiasis. There is no obvious difference between men and women, and middle-aged and elderly people have a higher probability of cataract and fundus diseases

Atomic structures and deletion mutant reveal different capsid-binding patterns and functional significance of tegument protein pp150 in murine and human cytomegaloviruses with implications for therapeutic development.

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection causes birth defects and life-threatening complications in immunosuppressed patients. Lack of vaccine and need for more effective drugs have driven widespread ongoing therapeutic development efforts against human CMV (HCMV), mostly using murine CMV (MCMV) as the model system for preclinical animal tests. The recent publication (Yu et al., 2017, DOI: 10.1126/science.aam6892) of an atomic model for HCMV capsid with associated tegument protein pp150 has infused impetus for rational design of novel vaccines and drugs, but the absence of high-resolution structural data on MCMV remains a significant knowledge gap in such development efforts. Here, by cryoEM with sub-particle reconstruction method, we have obtained the first atomic structure of MCMV capsid with associated pp150. Surprisingly, the capsid-binding patterns of pp150 differ between HCMV and MCMV despite their highly similar capsid structures. In MCMV, pp150 is absent on triplex Tc and exists as a "Λ"-shaped dimer on other triplexes, leading to only 260 groups of two pp150 subunits per capsid in contrast to 320 groups of three pp150 subunits each in a "Δ"-shaped fortifying configuration. Many more amino acids contribute to pp150-pp150 interactions in MCMV than in HCMV, making MCMV pp150 dimer inflexible thus incompatible to instigate triplex Tc-binding as observed in HCMV. While pp150 is essential in HCMV, our pp150-deletion mutant of MCMV remained viable though with attenuated infectivity and exhibiting defects in retaining viral genome. These results thus invalidate targeting pp150, but lend support to targeting capsid proteins, when using MCMV as a model for HCMV pathogenesis and therapeutic studies

Aims Hepatic steatosis has been related to insulin resistance and increased diabetes risk. We assessed whether combination of diabetes risk factors, evaluated by the Finnish Diabetes Risk Score, was associated with risk of hepatic steatosis in an apparently healthy Chinese population. Research Design and Methods The study samples were from a community-based health examination survey in central China. In total 1,780 men and women (18–64 y) were included in the final analyses. Hepatic steatosis was diagnosed by ultrasonography. We created combination of diabetes risk factors score on basis of age, Body Mass Index, waist circumference, physical activity at least 4 h a week, daily consumption of fruits, berries or vegetables, history of antihypertensive drug treatment, history of high blood glucose. The total risk score is a simple sum of the individual weights, and values range from 0 to 20. Results: Hepatic steatosis was present 18% in the total population. In multivariate models, the odds ratios of hepatic steatosis were 1.20 (95%CI 1.15–1.25) in men and 1.25 (95%CI 1.14–1.37) in women by each unit increase in the combination of diabetes risk factors score, after adjustment for blood pressure, liver enzymes, plasma lipids, and fasting glucose. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for hepatic steatosis was 0.78 (95%CI 0.76–0.80), 0.76 in men (95%CI 0.74–0.78) and 0.83 (95%CI 0.79–0.87) in women. Conclusions: Our data suggest that combination of major diabetes risk factors was significantly related to risk of hepatic steatosis in Chinese adults
