Interplay between Quantum Size Effect and Strain Effect on Growth of Nanoscale Metal Thin Film

We develop a theoretical framework to investigate the interplay between quantum size effect (QSE) and strain effect on the stability of metal nanofilms. The QSE and strain effect are shown to be coupled through the concept of "quantum electronic stress. First-principles calculations reveal large quantum oscillations in the surface stress of metal nanofilms as a function of film thickness. This adds extrinsically additional strain-coupled quantum oscillations to surface energy of strained metal nanofilms. Our theory enables a quantitative estimation of the amount of strain in experimental samples, and suggests strain be an important factor contributing to the discrepancies between the existing theories and experiments

In the crystal structure of the title compound, C12H14N3 +·C2H2ClO2 −, the chloroacetate anion is linked to the N-(4,6-dimethylpyrimidin-2-yl)aniline cation by N—H⋯O hydrogen bonding. Within the cation, the pyrimidine ring is twisted with respect to the phenyl ring by a dihedral angle of 7.59 (4)°

Incidence of central nervous system metastases in patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-positive metastatic breast cancer treated with trastuzumab: A meta-analysis

This study aimed to estimate the incidence of central nervous system (CNS) metastases in patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive metastatic breast cancer (MBC) treated with trastuzumab. Studies were identified through a literature search of electronic databases. Random-effects meta-analyses were performed to estimate the incidence rate of CNS metastases, trastuzumab therapy duration, and time from trastuzumab therapy to CNS metastasis diagnosis. A meta-analysis of odds ratios was performed to evaluate the significance of a difference in CNS metastasis incidence between patients with and without trastuzumab treatment. Thirty studies (8121 trastuzumab-treated and 3972 control patients) were included. The follow-up duration was 18.9 months (95% confidence interval [CI]: 13.8, 24.1). The trastuzumab treatment duration was 9.0 months (95% CI: 7.0, 11.0). The median interval between the start of trastuzumab therapy and CNS metastasis diagnosis was 12.2 months (95% CI: 9.5, 14.7). The incidence of CNS metastasis after the start of trastuzumab therapy was 22% (95% CI: 16, 27). The incidence of CNS metastases was significantly higher in trastuzumab-treated than in non-trastuzumab-treated patients (odds ratio: 1.39 [95% CI: 1.06, 1.82], p=0.02). The survival time from the start of the study was 23.4 months (95% CI: 19.7, 27.1) in trastuzumab-treated patients and 18.4 months (95% CI: 12.7, 24.1) in patients treated with control regimens. The survival time after the development of CNS metastases in trastuzumab-treated patients was 19.2 months (95% CI: 15.6, 25.9). Approximately 22% of patients with HER2-positive MBC who were treated with trastuzumab developed CNS metastases. However, trastuzumab-treated patients had a longer survival than patients who were not treated with trastuzumab

Research on Factors Affecting the Use of E-commerce Consumer Credit Services: A Study of Ant Check Later

    Get PDF
This study uses “Ant Check Later”, the e-commerce consumer credit service of Alibaba, as the artifact and explores factors affecting its use. This study first summarized initiatives that Alibaba has launched to stimulate the use of “Ant Check Later”. Three factors, bonus, quota lifting, and scenario enrichment, were then distinguished from the initiatives using principal component analysis. These factors were anticipated to affect consumers’ intention to use the service. The research model was tested using 373 respondents collected from an online survey. Results indicate that bonus, quota lifting, and scenario enrichment are three predictors of consumers’ intention to continue using the service, and bonus and scenario enrichment positively affect non-users’ intention to use the service. This study found that scenario enrichment is the most important factor among the three factors in boosting consumers’ behavioral intention toward using the service. Keywords E-commerce consumer credit services, bonus, quota lifting, scenario enrichment, acceptance

A Database of Teleseismic Shear-Wave Splitting Measurements for the Ordos Block and Adjacent Areas

The Ordos block of the north China craton and its surrounding regions are affected by the India-Eurasia collision to the southwest and the subduction of the Pacific beneath the Eurasian plates to the east. To provide the foundation for delineating lithospheric deformation and asthenospheric flow beneath this tectonically diverse region, we have created a database of individual shear-wave splitting (SWS) parameters by applying a uniform set of data processing procedures. After automatic data processing and manual checking, a total of 16,228 pairs of well-defined PKS, SKKS, and SKS splitting parameters (fast orientations and splitting times) are obtained from 1023 broadband seismic stations that recorded data between 2007 and 2019. Along the western and southern margins of the Ordos block, the observed seismic anisotropy is attributable to mantle flow deflected by the relatively thick lithospheric root of the Ordos block. A clear back-Azimuthal dependence of the fast orientations is observed at some of the stations located in the Alxa block, Ordos block, and Sichuan basin, indicating possible existence of complex anisotropic structures. The new SWS database can be employed by researchers in various fields to study lithospheric deformation and asthenospheric flow beneath the Ordos block and surrounding regions

Trojan Horse nanotheranostics with dual transformability and multifunctionality for highly effective cancer treatment.

Nanotheranostics with integrated diagnostic and therapeutic functions show exciting potentials towards precision nanomedicine. However, targeted delivery of nanotheranostics is hindered by several biological barriers. Here, we report the development of a dual size/charge- transformable, Trojan-Horse nanoparticle (pPhD NP) for delivery of ultra-small, full active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) nanotheranostics with integrated dual-modal imaging and trimodal therapeutic functions. pPhD NPs exhibit ideal size and charge for drug transportation. In tumour microenvironment, pPhD NPs responsively transform to full API nanotheranostics with ultra-small size and higher surface charge, which dramatically facilitate the tumour penetration and cell internalisation. pPhD NPs enable visualisation of biodistribution by near-infrared fluorescence imaging, tumour accumulation and therapeutic effect by magnetic resonance imaging. Moreover, the synergistic photothermal-, photodynamic- and chemo-therapies achieve a 100% complete cure rate on both subcutaneous and orthotopic oral cancer models. This nanoplatform with powerful delivery efficiency and versatile theranostic functions shows enormous potentials to improve cancer treatment
