    Optimal Two Dimensional Preventive Maintenance Policy Based on Asymmetric Copula Function

    For some kinds of products, the consumers have strict requirements to the reliability of these products in the based warranty period. Then the manufacturer is inclined to provide the two-dimensional preventive maintenance policy to take the usage degree of the product into account. As a result, two-dimensional preventive maintenance policy in the warranty period has recently obtained increasing attention from manufacturers and consumers. In this paper, we focused on the optimization of based warranty cost and proposed a new expected based warranty cost model considering the two-dimensional imperfect preventive maintenance policy from the perspective of the manufacture. Asymmetric copula function was applied to modeling the failure function of the product. And the optimal two-dimensional preventive maintenance period was obtained by minimizing based warranty cost. At last, numerical examples are given to illustrate the proposed models, of which the results prove the model effective and validate

    Global profiling of the proteome, phosphoproteome, and N-glycoproteome of protoscoleces and adult worms of Echinococcus granulosus

    IntroductionCystic echinococcosis (CE) is a chronic zoonosis caused by infection with the metacestode of the Echinococcus granulosus. A unique characteristic of E. granulosus protoscolex (PSC) is their ability to develop bidirectionally into an adult worm in the definitive host or a secondary hydatid cyst in the intermediate host. Furthermore, cestodes have a complex life cycle involving different developmental stages; however, the mechanisms underlying this development remain unknown. Several studies have demonstrated that certain matrix proteins undergo posttranslational modifications (PTMs), including phosphorylation and glycosylation, which have important regulatory effects on their functional properties.MethodsSystematic analyses of the proteome, phosphorylated modified proteome, and glycosylated modified proteome of protoscoleces (PSCs) and adult worms were performed using a proteomic strategy. Data are available via ProteomeXchange with identifier PXD043166.ResultsIn total, 6,407 phosphorylation sites and 1757 proteins were quantified. Of these, 2032 phosphorylation sites and 770 proteins were upregulated, and 2,993 phosphorylation sites and 1,217 proteins were downregulated in adult worms compared to PSCs. A total of 612 N-glycosylation sites were identified in the 392 N-glycoproteins. Of these, 355 N-glycosylation sites and 212 N-glycoproteins were quantified. Of these, 90 N-glycosylation sites and 64 N-glycoproteins were upregulated, and 171 N-glycosylation sites and 126 N-glycoproteins were downregulated in adult worms compared to PSCs. GO enrichment analysis indicated that the differentially expressed phosphoproteins were mainly enriched in the regulation of oxidoreduction coenzyme metabolic processes, myelin sheath, and RNA helicase activity, whereas the differentially expressed N-glycoproteins were enriched in the cellular response to unfolded proteins, endoplasmic reticulum lumen, and nucleic acid binding. KEGG enrichment analysis indicated that the differently expressed phosphoproteins were mainly enriched in RNA transport, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, HIF-1 signaling pathway and pyruvate metabolism. Differentially expressed N-glycoproteins were enriched in the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, ECM-receptor interactions, and protein processing in the endoplasmic reticulum.DiscussionTo our knowledge, this study is the first global phosphoproteomic and N-glycoproteomic analysis of E. granulosus, which provides valuable information on the expression characteristics of E. granulosus and provides a new perspective to elucidate the role of protein phosphorylation and N-glycosylation in the development of E. granulosus

    Preparation and Application of Oleogel as Fat Substitute in Plant-based Patties

    In this study, oleogels were prepared with rapeseed oil and coconut oil as oil phase and monoglyceride (MG), beeswax, rice bran wax, carnauba wax or candelilla (CLW) wax as gelling agent, and the effects of different concentrations of gelling agent (5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%) on the oil-holding capacity, textural properties and rheological properties of oleogels were investigated. The results showed that the oil-holding capacity of the oleogels prepared with 15% and more gelling agent was more than 96%; the melting characteristics of MG were most similar to those of butter, but the textual properties of oleogels prepared with a single gelling agent were not comparable to that of butter. Therefore, mixtures of MG and CLW in different proportions by mass were used to prepare oleogels with 15% oleogels and plant-based patties. The results showed that the oleogel prepared with a 3:7 mixture of MG and CLW was the closest to butter in terms of textural and rheological properties, and the resulting patty had the highest sensory quality, showing that this oleogel has a better potential for use as a fat substitute

    Tactile-based Object Retrieval From Granular Media

    We introduce GEOTACT, a robotic manipulation method capable of retrieving objects buried in granular media. This is a challenging task due to the need to interact with granular media, and doing so based exclusively on tactile feedback, since a buried object can be completely hidden from vision. Tactile feedback is in itself challenging in this context, due to ubiquitous contact with the surrounding media, and the inherent noise level induced by the tactile readings. To address these challenges, we use a learning method trained end-to-end with simulated sensor noise. We show that our problem formulation leads to the natural emergence of learned pushing behaviors that the manipulator uses to reduce uncertainty and funnel the object to a stable grasp despite spurious and noisy tactile readings. We also introduce a training curriculum that enables learning these behaviors in simulation, followed by zero-shot transfer to real hardware. To the best of our knowledge, GEOTACT is the first method to reliably retrieve a number of different objects from a granular environment, doing so on real hardware and with integrated tactile sensing.     An insight into the different responses to salt stress in growth characteristics of two legume species during seedling growth

    Legumes play a crucial role in the restoration and utilization of salinized grassland. To explore the physiological response mechanism of Astragalus membranaceus and Medicago sativa seedlings to salt stress, salt stress culture experiments with five NaCl concentration treatments (0 mmol/L, 50 mmol/L, 100 mmol/L, 200 mmol/L, and 300 mmol/L) were conducted on these two legume seedlings. Morphological characteristics, physiological features, biomass, and the protective enzyme system were measured for both seedlings. Correlation analysis, principal component analysis (PCA), and membership function analysis (MFA) were conducted for each index. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to analyze the salt stress pathways of plants. The results indicated that number of primary branches (PBN), ascorbate peroxidase (APX) activity in stems and leaves, catalase (CAT) activity in roots, etc. were identified as the primary indicators for evaluating the salt tolerance of A. membranaceus during its seedling growth period. And CAT and peroxidase (POD) activity in roots, POD and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in stems and leaves, etc. were identified as the primary indicators for evaluating the salt tolerance of M. sativa during its growth period. Plant morphological characteristics, physiological indexes, and underground biomass (UGB) were directly affected by salinity, while physiological indexes indirectly affected the degree of leaf succulence (LSD). Regarding the response of the protective enzyme system to salt stress, the activity of POD and APX increased in A. membranaceus, while the activity of CAT increased in M. sativa. Our findings suggest that salt stress directly affects the growth strategies of legumes. Furthermore, the response of the protective enzyme system and potential cell membrane damage to salinity were very different in the two legumes

    Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group, β2-microglobulin, hemoglobin, and lactate dehydrogenase can predict early grade ≥ 3 infection in patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma: A real-world multicenter study

    IntroductionThis research explored the clinical application of grade ≥ 3 infection predictive models for the newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) population.MethodsIt evaluated 306 patients with NDMM based on three different predictive models. The relationship between the grade ≥ 3 infection rates in NDMM and the scores was analyzed retrospectively. The cumulative incidence of early grade ≥ 3 infection was estimated using the Kaplan–Meier method and log-rank test to assess the statistical significance of the difference. To compare the predictive performance in the prediction of infection, the Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve (ROC) curve was used to show the area under the curve (AUC), and DeLong’s test was used to analyze the difference in AUC.ResultsThe incidence of grade ≥ 3 infection within the first 4 months of NDMM was 40.20%. Concerning the FIRST score (predictors: ECOG, β2-microglobulin, hemoglobin, and lactate dehydrogenase), GEM-PETHEMA score (predictors: albumin, male sex, ECOG, and non-IgA type MM), and Infection Risk model of Multiple Myeloma (IRMM) score (predictors: ECOG, serum β2-microglobulin, globulin, and hemoglobin), the probability of early grade ≥ 3 infection in the different groups showed statistically significant differences (low-risk vs. high-risk: 25.81% vs. 50.00%, p < 0.001; low-risk vs. moderate-risk vs. high-risk: 35.93% vs. 41.28% vs. 60.00%, p= 0.045; low-risk vs. moderate-risk vs. high-risk: 20.00% vs. 43.75% vs. 52.04%, p < 0.001). Statistical differences existed in the probability of early grade ≥ 3 infection among the different groups by the FIRST and IRMM scores but no statistical differences in the GEM-PETHEMA score (p < 0.001, p< 0.001, and p = 0.090, respectively). The FIRST score showed good discrimination and simple calculation with highest AUC. Further subgroup analysis showed that the FIRST score could still apply for patients treated with bortezomib-based regimen and frail patients.DiscussionOur findings indicate that the FIRST score (consisting of ECOG, β2-microglobulin, hemoglobin, and lactate dehydrogenase) is a simple and robust infection stratification tool for patients with NDMM and could be used in routine clinical work

    Long-term effects of total vs. partial pancreatectomy among patients with pancreatic cancer: a population-based study

    Background: Total pancreatectomy (TP) for pancreatic cancer (PC) has been limited historically for fear of elevated perioperative morbidity and mortality. With advances in perioperative care, TP may be an alternative option to partial pancreatectomy (PP). Limited evidence clarified the indication for these two procedures in PC patients, especially in patients with different tumor staging and location. Thus, this study aims to compare the outcomes after TP and PP for PCs of different T stages and locations. Methods: The study identified 14,456 PC patients with potentially curable primary tumor (T1???3) who received TP or PP from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database during 2000 to 2016. Detailed clinical and tumor covariates were all collected. Overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) were the primary endpoints of interest in this study. OS and CSS were compared between patients after TP and PP using log-rank analysis. Results: For all patients, except for tumor location, TP group was comparable to the PP group. OS and CSS of the TP group were worse than of the PP group (median OS: 19 vs. 20 months, P=0.0058; median CSS: 24 vs. 26 months, P=0.00098, respectively). In stratifying analyses, TP was significantly related to worse OS and CSS than PP in pancreatic head and neck cancer patients with T2-stage tumors (median OS: 18 vs. 19 months, P=0.0016; median CSS: 22 vs. 24 months, P=0.00055, respectively), whereas for patients with T1-or T3-stage pancreatic head and neck cancer as well as T1-to T3-stage pancreatic body and tail cancer or overlapping location cancer, OS and CSS of the two groups were similar (all P>0.05). Conclusions: Compared with PP, TP offered worse prognosis in pancreatic head and neck cancer patients with T2-stage tumors, furthermore, TP and PP achieved comparable prognosis in patients with T1-or T3-stage pancreatic head and neck cancer as well as T1-to T3-stage pancreatic body and tail cancer or overlapping location cancer
