Delving into E-Commerce Product Retrieval with Vision-Language Pre-training

E-commerce search engines comprise a retrieval phase and a ranking phase, where the first one returns a candidate product set given user queries. Recently, vision-language pre-training, combining textual information with visual clues, has been popular in the application of retrieval tasks. In this paper, we propose a novel V+L pre-training method to solve the retrieval problem in Taobao Search. We design a visual pre-training task based on contrastive learning, outperforming common regression-based visual pre-training tasks. In addition, we adopt two negative sampling schemes, tailored for the large-scale retrieval task. Besides, we introduce the details of the online deployment of our proposed method in real-world situations. Extensive offline/online experiments demonstrate the superior performance of our method on the retrieval task. Our proposed method is employed as one retrieval channel of Taobao Search and serves hundreds of millions of users in real time.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, accepted to SIRIP 202

Power to gas (P2G) uses electrical energy from access renewable power and captured carbon dioxide (CO2) to generate methane (CH4). The technology provides opportunity for replacing fossil fuels with green-powered hydrocarbon, benefiting the reducing of carbon emission. However, the methanation process in P2G requires high H2/CO2 ratio with available amount of hydrogen (H2) restricted by fluctuation of renewable power, bringing limits to the reusing of captured CO2. This paper presents a feasibility analysis of a novel wind/P2G/SOFC/GT multi-energy system (MES) for microgrid. Green-powered CH4 generated from P2G is mixed with captured CO2, bringing additional flexibility to balancing the overall H2/CO2 ratio for utilization. To comprehensively analyze the feasibility of synthesis CH4/CO2 fuel, evaluation of MES is carried out from both design and off-design conditions. For the design condition, a methodology of C-H-O elemental ternary analysis is applied to reflect the process of fuel utilization and reveal its connection with the trade-off feature of multiple components. For the off-design condition, fluctuations of user’s load and renewable source during winter and summer scenarios are considered in a case study. Results show that under C-H-O distribution of 5.8%, 61.2% and 33.0%, the SOFC/GT could operate safety with electrical efficiency of 62%, capable of participating as a secondary power source for MES. Meanwhile, the overall H2/CO2 utilization ratio of the system is reduced from 4:1 to 12:5, where extremes conditions during winter and summer scenarios are evaluated with renewable penetration level of 94% and wind curtailment rate below 5% reached

Intestinal Microecology in Pediatric Surgery-Related Gastrointestinal Diseases Current Insights and Future Perspectives

Intestinal microecology is established from birth and is constantly changing until homeostasis is reached. Intestinal microecology is involved in the immune inflammatory response of the intestine and regulates the intestinal barrier function. The imbalance of intestinal microecology is closely related to the occurrence and development of digestive system diseases. In some gastrointestinal diseases related to pediatric surgery, intestinal microecology and its metabolites undergo a series of changes, which can provide a certain basis for the diagnosis of diseases. The continuous development of microecological agents and fecal microbiota transplantation technology has provided a new means for its clinical treatment. We review the relationship between pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of pediatric surgery-related gastrointestinal diseases and intestinal microecology, in order to provide new ideas and methods for clinical diagnosis, treatment and research

Association between per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances and risk of hypertension: a systematic review and meta-analysis

    Get PDF
BackgroundExisting evidence indicates that exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) may increase the risk of hypertension, but the findings are inconsistent. Therefore, we aimed to explore the relationship between PFASs and hypertension through this systematic review and meta-analysis.MethodsWe searched PubMed, Embase, and the Web of Science databases for articles published in English that examined the relationship between PFASs and hypertension before 13 August 2022. The random effects model was used to aggregate the evaluation using Stata 15.0 for Windows. We also conducted subgroup analyses by region and hypertension definition. In addition, a sensitivity analysis was carried out to determine the robustness of the findings.ResultsThe meta-analysis comprised 15 studies in total with 69,949 individuals. The risk of hypertension was substantially and positively correlated with exposure to perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) (OR = 1.31, 95% CI: 1.14, 1.51), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) (OR = 1.16, 95% CI: 1.07, 1.26), and perfluorohexane sulfonate (PFHxS) (OR = 1.04, 95% CI: 1.00, 1.09). However, perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA) exposure and hypertension were not significantly associated (OR = 1.08, 95% CI: 0.99, 1.17).ConclusionWe evaluated the link between PFASs exposure and hypertension and discovered that higher levels of PFOS, PFOA, and PFHxS were correlated with an increased risk of hypertension. However, further high-quality population-based and pathophysiological investigations are required to shed light on the possible mechanism and demonstrate causation because of the considerable variability.Systematic review registrationhttps://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/ PROSPERO, registration number: CRD 42022358142

New insights into the interplay between autophagy and cartilage degeneration in osteoarthritis

    Get PDF
Autophagy is an intracellular degradation system that maintains the stable state of cell energy metabolism. Some recent findings have indicated that autophagy dysfunction is an important driving factor for the occurrence and development of osteoarthritis (OA). The decrease of autophagy leads to the accumulation of damaged organelles and macromolecules in chondrocytes, which affects the survival of chondrocytes and ultimately leads to OA. An appropriate level of autophagic activation may be a new method to prevent articular cartilage degeneration in OA. This minireview discussed the mechanism of autophagy and OA, key autophagy targets regulating OA progression, and evaluated therapeutic applications of drugs targeting autophagy in preclinical and clinical research. Some critical issues worth paying attention to were also raised to guide future research efforts

Gene editing in monogenic autism spectrum disorder: animal models and gene therapies

    Get PDF
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a lifelong neurodevelopmental disease, and its diagnosis is dependent on behavioral manifestation, such as impaired reciprocal social interactions, stereotyped repetitive behaviors, as well as restricted interests. However, ASD etiology has eluded researchers to date. In the past decades, based on strong genetic evidence including mutations in a single gene, gene editing technology has become an essential tool for exploring the pathogenetic mechanisms of ASD via constructing genetically modified animal models which validates the casual relationship between genetic risk factors and the development of ASD, thus contributing to developing ideal candidates for gene therapies. The present review discusses the progress in gene editing techniques and genetic research, animal models established by gene editing, as well as gene therapies in ASD. Future research should focus on improving the validity of animal models, and reliable DNA diagnostics and accurate prediction of the functional effects of the mutation will likely be equally crucial for the safe application of gene therapies

Prevalence and prognostic significance of DNMT3A- and TET2- clonal haematopoiesis-driver mutations in patients presenting with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

Background Clonal haematopoiesis driven by mutations in DNMT3A or TET2 has recently been identified as a new risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Experimental studies suggest that these mutations may enhance inflammation which accelerates the disease progression. We aim to investigate the prevalence of mutations in DNMT3A and TET2 and their association with prognosis of patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Methods Targeted deep sequencing for DNMT3A and TET2 and inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, INF-γ) were analyzed in 485 patients with STEMI. Major adverse cardiac events (MACE) was a composite of death, myocardial infarction, stroke, or hospitalization due to heart failure. Findings Patients carrying DNMT3A- or TET2-CH-driver mutations with a variant allele frequency (VAF) ≥2% were found in 12.4% (60 of 485) of STEMI patients and experienced an increased incidence of the death (30.9% vs 15.5%, P = 0.001) and MACE (44.5% vs 21.8%, P < 0.001) compared to those who did not, during a median follow up of 3.0 (interquartile range: 2.4–3.4) years. After adjusting for confounders, mutation remained an independent predictor of death (HR = 1.967, 95% CI 1.103–3.507, P = 0.022) and MACE (HR = 1.833, 95% CI 1.154–2.912, P = 0.010). Concentrations of plasma IL-1β (P = 0.010) and IL-6 (P = 0.011) were significantly elevated in DNMT3A/TET2 VAF≥2% group. Interpretation DNMT3A- or TET2-CH-driver mutations with a VAF≥2% were observed in over 10% STEMI patients, and were significantly associated with poorer prognosis, which might be explained by higher levels of inflammatory cytokines in mutations carriers
