    Empathic Communication and Artistic Healing Role of Local Music in Xiamen City under Major Social Events

    From local to global, from individual to universal, from singularity to plurality, music not only promotes the deep integration and dissemination of urban culture, giving birth to the theoretical perspective of “music studies”, but also becomes an important symbol and weathervane of a city’s cultural trend. Whether it is a metropolis such as London, Paris or Beijing, or an art city that focuses on the city’s on-the-ground music creation or identity, music is closely connected to the urban cultural space. At the same time, music is also a “holistic effect art”, a language of cultural globalisation. This study will be based on the creation and dissemination of Xiamen’s urban music works under major social issues, taking aesthetic function and artistic healing as the entry point, combining with the case study of Xiamen’s urban in situ music works to explore the current situation of the creation and dissemination of its works, elucidating the social value and artistic healing function of the city’s songs, and rethinking and exploring the relationship between literary and artistic works and the harmonious development of the human society, and the role of the city’s brand shaping and influence on city branding. This research will mainly focus on the literature research method and case study method, using the Internet and electronic resource databases to review the literature, understand the knowledge related to music and art, clarify the development of urban local music and the current status of research, and obtain relevant research information, so as to provide ideas and references for the project research. To analyse the data of urban local music creation and dissemination with appropriate statistical and analytical methods, in order to maximise the function of the data and play a role in the data. Take urban local music as a typical case, investigate it, and give solution ideas and programmes, and look forward to the direction of creation and dissemination of contemporary literary works of urban local music under major social events

    Radiometric dating of late Quaternary loess in the northern piedmont of South Tianshan Mountains: Implications for reliable dating

    Reliable chronologies are prerequisites when interpreting proxy records in terrestrial archives of Quaternary climate and environmental change. Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating and accelerator mass spectrometry radiocarbon dating (AMS C-14) are commonly used to date late Quaternary loess deposits in the Chinese Loess Plateau, but the range and reliability of the two methods in Central Asia are still debated. In this study, we investigate both fine-grained quartz OSL and AMS C-14 dating of a late Quaternary loess section located at the northern piedmont of the South Tianshan Mountains in Central Asia and discuss the reliability of the two radiometric dating methods. The results show that the OSL and AMS C-14 ages are generally consistent with the stratigraphic sequence when the ages are younger than 25cal ka BP, which means that both can be used to establish a reliable chronology in the Ili Basin. But beyond this age, the OSL dating method seems to be a more reliable approach. The results also supported previous dates based on medium-grained quartz OSL dating of the Ili loess in the southern piedmont of the North Tianshan Mountains. Radiocarbon ages older than 25cal ka BP should be treated with caution, and attention must be paid to the influence of pedoturbation on OSL signals in the Central Asian loess. Multiple dating approaches for mutual authentication and exploring new dating materials are suggested in further loess chronological research. These findings will be helpful in establishing a reliable timescale and in reconstructing high-resolution environmental change in Central Asia

    TIPE2 regulates periodontal inflammation by inhibiting NF-κB p65 phosphorylation

    The roles and molecular mechanisms of tumor necrosis factor-α-induced protein 8-like 2 (TIPE2) in periodontitis remain largely unknown. Objective: This study aimed to determine the expression of TIPE2 and NF-κB p65 in rat Porphyromonas gingivalis-induced periodontics in vivo. Methodology: Periodontal inflammation and alveolar bone resorption were analyzed using western blotting, micro-computed tomography, TRAP staining, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. THP-1 monocytes were stimulated using 1 μg/ml Pg. lipopolysaccharide (Pg.LPS) to determine the expression of TIPE2 in vitro. TIPE2 mRNA was suppressed by siRNA transfection, and the transfection efficiency was proven using western blotting and real-time PCR. The NF-κB pathway was activated by treating the cells with 1 μg/ml Pg.LPS to explore related mechanisms. Results: The expression of both TIPE2 and NF-κB p65 was increased in the gingival tissues of rat periodontitis compared with normal tissues. Positive expression of TIPE2 was distributed in inflammatory infiltrating cells and osteoclasts in the marginal lacunae of the alveolar bone. However, strong positive expression of TIPE2 in THP-1 was downregulated after Pg.LPS stimulation. TIPE2 levels negatively correlated with TNF-α and IL-1β. Decreased TIPE2 in THP-1 further promoted NF-κB p65 phosphorylation. Mechanistically, TIPE2 knockdown upregulated NF-κB signaling pathway activity. Conclusions: Taken together, these findings demonstrate that TIPE2 knockdown aggravates periodontal inflammatory infiltration via NF-κB pathway. Interventions aimed at increasing TIPE2 may help in the therapeutic applications for periodontitis

    Protective effect of grifolin against brain injury in an acute cerebral ischemia rat model

    Purpose: To evaluate the protective effects of grifolin against brain injury in an acute cerebral ischemia rat model.Methods: Rats were assigned to five groups: control, negative control, and grifolin (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg, p.o.) treated groups, which received the drug for 2 weeks. All the animals were sacrificed at the end of the protocol, and tissue homogenates were prepared from isolated brain tissue. Glutathione peroxidase (GPX), superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), and nitric oxide (NO), as oxidative stress indicators, were determined for the tissue homogenates of the ischemic rats. Inflammatory mediators (cytokines and nuclear factor kappa B p65, NF κB), DNA damage, and ATP and caspase 3 levels in the tissue homogenates were also assessed.Results: Treatment with grifolin increased SOD and GPX significantly and decreased MDA and NO levels in tissue homogenates of the cerebral ischemic rats compared with those in the negative control group (p < 0.05). Treatment with grifolin also attenuated the altered levels of inflammatory mediators (cytokines and NF-κB), caspase 3, and ATP levels in the tissue homogenate of cerebral ischemic rats (p < 0.05). The results of comet assay on the tissue homogenate suggest that treatment with grifolin reduced or prevented damage.Conclusions: The results show that treatment with grifolin protects against neuronal damage in acute cerebral ischemic rats via its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties.Keywords: Neuroprotection, Cerebral ischemia, Brain injury, DNA, Grifolin, Anti oxidan

    Decreased expression of long non-coding RNA WT1-AS promotes cell proliferation and invasion in gastric cancer

    AbstractTumor recurrence and metastasis remain the major obstacles for the successful treatment of patients diagnosed with gastric cancer. In recent years, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been considered as key regulators of tumor behavior. In this study, we investigated the expression and biological role of a newly-identified cancer-related lncRNA, WT1-AS. We found that WT1-AS expression was significantly down-regulated in tumor tissues compared to matched adjacent non-tumor tissues. The WT1-AS expression level was also associated with tumor size and the clinicopathological stage. Cell proliferation, migration, and invasion were inhibited, and the proportion of G0/G1 cells increased when WT1-AS was ectopically-expressed in gastric cancer cells. Furthermore, ectopic expression of WT1-AS was demonstrated to inhibit tumor growth and metastasis in vivo. Finally, we found that WT1-AS overexpression could decrease ERK protein phosphorylation. Our study indicates that WT1-AS is significantly down-regulated in gastric cancers and may be correlated with tumor progression

    A Simple Single-Scale Vision Transformer for Object Localization and Instance Segmentation

    This work presents a simple vision transformer design as a strong baseline for object localization and instance segmentation tasks. Transformers recently demonstrate competitive performance in image classification tasks. To adopt ViT to object detection and dense prediction tasks, many works inherit the multistage design from convolutional networks and highly customized ViT architectures. Behind this design, the goal is to pursue a better trade-off between computational cost and effective aggregation of multiscale global contexts. However, existing works adopt the multistage architectural design as a black-box solution without a clear understanding of its true benefits. In this paper, we comprehensively study three architecture design choices on ViT -- spatial reduction, doubled channels, and multiscale features -- and demonstrate that a vanilla ViT architecture can fulfill this goal without handcrafting multiscale features, maintaining the original ViT design philosophy. We further complete a scaling rule to optimize our model's trade-off on accuracy and computation cost / model size. By leveraging a constant feature resolution and hidden size throughout the encoder blocks, we propose a simple and compact ViT architecture called Universal Vision Transformer (UViT) that achieves strong performance on COCO object detection and instance segmentation tasks.Comment: ECCV 2022 accepte

    Simultaneous determination of multiple components in rat plasma by UHPLC-sMRM for pharmacokinetic studies after oral administration of Qingjin Yiqi Granules

    As a Traditional Chinese Medicine prescription, Qingjin Yiqi Granules (QJYQ) provides an effective treatment for patients recovering from COVID-19. However, the pharmacokinetics characteristics of the main components of QJYQ in vivo are still unknown. An efficacious ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) was developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of 33 components in rat plasma after oral administration of QJYQ. The plasma samples were precipitated with 400 µL methanol/acetonitrile (1/1, v/v) and analyzed in scheduled multiple reaction monitoring mode. The linear relationship of the 33 components was good (r > 0.9928). The lower limit of quantification for 33 components ranged from 0.4–60.5 ng/mL. The average recoveries and matrix effects of the analytes ranged from 72.9% to 115.0% with RSD of 1.4%–15.0%. All inter-day and intra-day RSDs were within 15.0%. After oral administration (3.15 g/kg), the validated approach was effectively applied to the pharmacokinetics of main components of QJYQ. Finally, fifteen main constituents of QJYQ with large plasma exposure were obtained, including baicalin, wogonoside, wogonin, apigenin-7-O-glucuronide, verbenalin, isoferulic acid, hesperidin, liquiritin, harpagide, protocatechuic acid, p-Coumaric acid, ferulic acid, sinapic acid, liquiritin apioside and glycyrrhizic acid. The present research lays a foundation for clarifying the therapeutic material basis of QJYQ and provides a reference for further scientific research and clinical application of QJYQ
