Social Media Attention Increases Article Visits: An Investigation on Article-Level Referral Data of PeerJ
In order to better understand the effect of social media in the dissemination
of scholarly articles, employing the daily updated referral data of 110 PeerJ
articles collected over a period of 345 days, we analyze the relationship
between social media attention and article visitors directed by social media.
Our results show that social media presence of PeerJ articles is high. About
68.18% of the papers receive at least one tweet from Twitter accounts other
than @PeerJ, the official account of the journal. Social media attention
increases the dissemination of scholarly articles. Altmetrics could not only
act as the complement of traditional citation measures but also play an
important role in increasing the article downloads and promoting the impacts of
scholarly articles. There also exists a significant correlation among the
online attention from different social media platforms. Articles with more
Facebook shares tend to get more tweets. The temporal trends show that social
attention comes immediately following publication but does not last long, so do
the social media directed article views
Research on damage mechanism of bearing current in high power motor
In the running process of high power motor, the shaft voltage and bearing current are sometimes present. Under the combined action of the current and the mechanical load, the corrugated groove is formed on the bearing race. The paper analyzed the causes, forms and characteristics of the early current damage of bearing, studied the relationship between the number of shaft current size and bearing pitting attack damage, presented the theoretical calculation method of the corrugated groove, got the change rule of the corrugated groove spacing with the change of the motor speed and the mechanical load. The experimental results are in agreement with the theoretical analysis, the measurement value of corrugated groove average spacing is very close to its theoretical value, and the average deviation is less than 10 %
A double-faced 6R Single-loop Overconstrained Spatial Mechanism
This paper deals with a 6R single-loop overconstrained spatial mechanism that has two pairs of revolute joints with intersecting axes and one pair of revolute joints with parallel axes. The 6R mechanism is first constructed from an isosceles triangle and a pair of identical circles. The kinematic analysis of the 6R mechanism is then dealt with using a dual quaternion approach. The analysis shows that the 6R mechanism usually has two solutions to the kinematic analysis for a given input and may have two circuits (closure modes or branches) with one or two pairs of full-turn revolute joints. In two configurations in each circuit of the 6R mechanism, the axes of four revolute joints are coplanar, and the axes of the other two revolute joints are perpendicular to the plane defined by the above four revolute joints. Considering that from one configuration of the 6R mechanism, one can obtain another configuration of the mechanism by simply renumbering the joints, the concept of two-faced mechanism is introduced. The formulas for the analysis of plane symmetric spatial triangle are also presented in this paper. These formulas will be useful for the design and analysis of multiloop overconstrained mechanisms involving plane symmetric spatial RRR triads.</jats:p
Bipolar resistance switching characteristics with opposite polarity of Au/SrTiO3/Ti memory cells
Two types of bipolar resistance switching with eightwise and counter eightwise polarities are observed to coexist in Au/SrTiO3/Ti memory cells. These two types of switching can be induced by different defect distributions which are activated by controlling the electric process. The analyses of I-V and C-V data reveal that the resistance switching with eightwise polarity originates from the change of Schottky barrier at the Au/SrTiO3 interface caused by trapping/detrapping effects at interface defect states, while the switching with counter eightwise polarity is caused by oxygen-vacancy migration

Role of IL-33 and ST2 signaling and inflammatory responses in non-small cell lung cancer
Purpose: To investigate the role of the interleukin (IL)-33 and ST2 pathway in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and to further explore the critical relationships among inflammation, immunity, and cancer.Methods: From January 2014 to December 2015, paraffin-embedded sections of surgical specimens were obtained from 40 patients definitively diagnosed with NSCLC by pathological examination in Changzhou Wujin People's Hospital and Taicang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Sections were further immunostained with antibodies directed against IL-33 and ST2 cardiac biomarker.Inflammatory reactions were determined by hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining. Paracancerous control sample tissues were also collected. In addition, 60 primary NSCLC patients without any complications were enrolled, and 60 healthy volunteers were enrolled at the same institutions. Serum samples of patients were collected, and protein expressions of IL-33, ST2, IL-4, and interferon (IFN)-γ were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) or western blot assay.Results: The results indicate that IL-33, ST2 and IL-4 expressions in cancer tissues and blood were significantly increased when compared with control groups.Conclusion: IL-33/ST2 in NSCLC microenvironment enhances T helper cell 2 (Th2) response, which may be beneficial for tumor growth.Keywords: Interleukin, IL-33, ST2, IL-4, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC
