Correlation Analysis of Agricultural Injuries and Quality of Life Among Rural Residents in Hainan Province
Objective To analyze the correlation between agricultural injuries and quality of life among rural residents in Hainan Province, and to provide a scientific basis for agricultural injury prevention in Hainan. Methods Using a multi-stage random sampling method, one city (county) was randomly selected in each of the five directions of Hainan: east, south, west, north and central. 1-2 towns (townships) were selected in each of the selected cities (counties), then 5-10 natural villages were selected in each town, and 20-30 households were randomly selected in each village (neighbourhood committee) to conduct a face-to-face survey of all permanent residents aged 15 or above in the selected households. Results In both the no agricultural injury group and the group with agricultural injury, there were statistically significant differences (P<0.05) in the six dimensions of Physical Functioning, Role-Physical, Bodily Pain, General Health, Social Functioning and Role-Emotional and in the total score between the two groups, all with the no agricultural injury group scoring higher than the agricultural injury group. The incidence of agricultural injuries showed an overall decreasing trend as the quality of life score increased (P<0.05). Conclusion The incidence of agricultural injuries among rural residents in Hainan is related to the quality of life, and relevant measures should be taken to reduce the incidence of agricultural injuries and improve the quality of life of rural residents in Hainan
Enhancement of the superconducting gap by nesting in CaKFe4As4 - a new high temperature superconductor
We use high resolution angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy and density
functional theory with experimentally obtained crystal structure parameters to
study the electronic properties of CaKFe4As4. In contrast to related CaFe2As2
compounds, CaKFe4As4 has high Tc of 35K at stochiometric composition. This
presents unique opportunity to study properties of high temperature
superconductivity of iron arsenic superconductors in absence of doping or
substitution. The Fermi surface consists of three hole pockets at and
two electron pockets at the point. We find that the values of the
superconducting gap are nearly isotropic, but significantly different for each
of the FS sheets. Most importantly we find that the overall momentum dependence
of the gap magnitudes plotted across the entire Brillouin zone displays a
strong deviation from the simple cos(kx)cos(ky) functional form of the gap
function, proposed in the scenario of the Cooper-pairing driven by a short
range antiferromagnetic exchange interaction. Instead, the maximum value of the
gap is observed for FS sheets that are closest to the ideal nesting condition
in contrast to the previous observations in some other ferropnictides. These
results provide strong support for the multiband character of superconductivity
in CaKFe4As4, in which Cooper pairing forms on the electron and the hole bands
interacting via dominant interband repulsive interaction, enhanced by FS
nesting}.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Population genetic structure and demographic history of small yellow croaker, Larimichthys polyactis (Bleeker, 1877), from coastal waters of China
Small yellow croaker, Larimichthys polyactis (Bleeker, 1877), a commercially important benthopelagic fish, is widely distributed in the Bohai, Yellow and East China Seas. To evaluate the population genetic structure and demographic history of L. polyactis, we sequenced the complete mitochondrial deoxyribonucleic acid (mtDNA) control region (798 to 801 bp) in 127 individuals sampled from seven localities throughout its distribution region in China. A total of 136 polymorphic sites were detected, which defined 125 haplotypes. High haplotype diversity (1.000 ± 0.013 to 1.000 ± 0.034) and moderate nucleotide diversity (0.0112 ± 0.0061 to 0.0141 ± 0.0075) were detected in the species. The neighbor-joining tree of haplotypes was assigned into two closely related clades, but did not appear to have any geographic genealogic structure. Hierarchical molecular variance analysis (AMOVA), pair wise FST comparisons and the nearest-neighbor statistic (Snn) showed no significant genetic differences among populations in the Bohai, Yellow and East China Seas. The demographic history of L. polyactis was examined by using neutrality tests and mismatch distribution analysis, which revealed that the species had undergone a Pleistocene population expansion. The results based on the complete mtDNA control region sequences analysis indicate that within its distribution range, L. polyactis constituted a panmictic mtDNA gene pool. Factors such as dispersal capacity, ocean currents and insufficient evolution time could be responsible for the lack of population genetic differentiation in L. polyactis. Keywords: Larimichthys polyactis, mitochondrial control region, population genetic structure, demographi
BmILF and I-motif Structure Are Involved in Transcriptional Regulation of \u3cem\u3eBmPOUM2\u3c/em\u3e in \u3cem\u3eBombyx mori\u3c/em\u3e
Guanine-rich and cytosine-rich DNA can form four-stranded DNA secondary structures called G-quadruplex (G4) and i-motif, respectively. These structures widely exist in genomes and play important roles in transcription, replication, translation and protection of telomeres. In this study, G4 and i-motif structures were identified in the promoter of the transcription factor gene BmPOUM2, which regulates the expression of the wing disc cuticle protein gene (BmWCP4) during metamorphosis. Disruption of the i-motif structure by base mutation, anti-sense oligonucleotides (ASOs) or inhibitory ligands resulted in significant decrease in the activity of the BmPOUM2 promoter. A novel i-motif binding protein (BmILF) was identified by pull-down experiment. BmILF specifically bound to the i-motif and activated the transcription of BmPOUM2. The promoter activity of BmPOUM2 was enhanced when BmILF was over-expressed and decreased when BmILF was knocked-down by RNA interference. This study for the first time demonstrated that BmILF and the i-motif structure participated in the regulation of gene transcription in insect metamorphosis and provides new insights into the molecular mechanism of the secondary structures in epigenetic regulation of gene transcription
Current situation and related factors of occupational stress of employees of a petrochemical enterprise
BackgroundOccupational stress has become one of the main factors affecting people's physical and mental health, and there are many sources of occupational stress in petrochemical enterprises. ObjectiveTo evaluate the current situation of occupational stress and its related factors among employees in a petrochemical enterprise, and to provide a scientific basis for reduing the risk of occupational stress among employees in petrochemical enterprises. MethodsIn June 2022, a cross-sectional questionnaire survey was conducted in a petrochemical enterprise in Hainan, including a general information questionnaire for basic information, the Effort-Reward Imbalance (ERI) for occupational stress, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) for sleep quality. Chi-square test was used to compare differences in positive occupational stress by demographic characteristics, occupational characteristics, behavior, and occupational disease hazards. Logistic regression was employed to evaluate factors associated with occupational stress. ResultsOf the 1129 questionnaire distributed, a total of 999 valid questionnaire were returned, with a valid recovery rate of 88.5%. The positive rate of occupational stress among employees in the petrochemical enterprise was 29.5%. There were statistically significant differences in the positive rate of occupational stress among the employees grouped by gender, age, marital status, body mass index (BMI), monthly income, length of service, smoking, weekly working hours, type of work, working mode, sleep quality, noise exposure, and high temperature exposure (P<0.05). In terms of positive occupational stress among subcategories: workers being male (vs. female), working >40 h per week (vs. ≤40 h per week), regular day shift (vs. shift work), smoking (vs. not smoking), with exposure to noise and heat (vs. without such exposure), and having poor sleep quality (vs. good sleep quality) reported higher positive occupational stress rates (P<0.05). The results of pairwise comparison showed that the positive rate of occupational stress in divorced (50.0%) or married (32.0%) workers was higher than that in single (27.1%) workers, and higher in operation workers (30.6%) than in other types of work (20.5%) (P<0.05). The trend chi-square results showed that the positive rate of occupational stress increased linearly with the increase of age, length of service, BMI, or monthly income (P<0.05). The results of logistic regression analysis after adjustment showed that workers who worked >40 h a week had a higher risk of occupational stress than those who worked ≤40 h a week, and the OR (95%CI) was 1.909 (1.135, 3.211); the workers of other types of work had a lower risk of reporting occupational stress than operation workers, and the OR (95%CI) was 0.513 (0.272, 0.968); the workers with noise exposure had a higher risk of occupational stress than the workers without, and the OR (95%CI) was 2.457 (1.070, 5.642). ConclusionThe positive rate of occupational stress among employees in this petrochemical enterprise is high. Among them, operators, working hours per week>40 h, and noise exposure may increase the incidence of occupational stress. The enterprise should actively take measures to reduce the occurrence of occupational stress among employees
GPX8 regulates pan-apoptosis in gliomas to promote microglial migration and mediate immunotherapy responses
IntroductionGliomas have emerged as the predominant brain tumor type in recent decades, yet the exploration of non-apoptotic cell death regulated by the pan-optosome complex, known as pan-apoptosis, remains largely unexplored in this context. This study aims to illuminate the molecular properties of pan-apoptosis-related genes in glioma patients, classifying them and developing a signature using machine learning techniques.MethodsThe prognostic significance, mutation features, immunological characteristics, and pharmaceutical prediction performance of this signature were comprehensively investigated. Furthermore, GPX8, a gene of interest, was extensively examined for its prognostic value, immunological characteristics, medication prediction performance, and immunotherapy prediction potential. ResultsExperimental techniques such as CCK-8, Transwell, and EdU investigations revealed that GPX8 acts as a tumor accelerator in gliomas. At the single-cell RNA sequencing level, GPX8 appeared to facilitate cell contact between tumor cells and macrophages, potentially enhancing microglial migration. ConclusionsThe incorporation of pan-apoptosis-related features shows promising potential for clinical applications in predicting tumor progression and advancing immunotherapeutic strategies. However, further in vitro and in vivo investigations are necessary to validate the tumorigenic and immunogenic processes associated with GPX8 in gliomas
