Plants’ responses to drought and shade environments
Water and light are the most important environements for plants’ growth. These environemts are critical factors needed not only for the survival of plants but also their production. When plants are exposed to drought condition, they change in their anatomical, physiological and biochemical properties. Drought affects plants wildly from their cell structure to growth. It causes higher plastoglobuli, lower starch grain, distortion of thylakoids, disrupted grana and swelling of chloroplast. Plants grown under enhanced light, have increased palisade parenchyma, thicker leaf, higher biomass, increased photosynthesis, lower contents of chlorophyll, carotenoid and nitrogen.Keywords: Drought, plant, shade, wate
Proto-type installation of a double-station system for the optical-video-detection and orbital characterisation of a meteor/fireball in South Korea
We give a detailed description of the installation and operation of a
double-station meteor detection system which formed part of a research &
education project between Korea Astronomy Space Science Institute and Daejeon
Science Highschool. A total of six light-sensitive CCD cameras were installed
with three cameras at SOAO and three cameras at BOAO observatory. A
double-station observation of a meteor event enables the determination of the
three-dimensional orbit in space. This project was initiated in response to the
Jinju fireball event in March 2014. The cameras were installed in
October/November 2014. The two stations are identical in hardware as well as
software. Each station employes sensitive Watec-902H2 cameras in combination
with relatively fast f/1.2 lenses. Various fields of views were used for
measuring differences in detection rates of meteor events. We employed the
SonotaCo UFO software suite for meteor detection and their subsequent analysis.
The system setup as well as installation/operation experience is described and
first results are presented. We also give a brief overview of historic as well

Interpolation for molecular dynamics simulations: from ions in gas phase to proteins in solution
The interpolation technique has shown many promises for simulating chemical dynamics with quantum chemical accuracy at molecular mechanics speed. This is achieved by constructing analytic potential energy surfaces with quantum chemical information at multiple conformational points, without assuming any functional form for the potentials. Here, we briefly review the course the method was developed over the past few decades, with a special focus on the activities in Korea. We also describe its strengths and weaknesses toward describing condensed phase chemical dynamics with the present implementations. Use of work-related communication technology outside regular working hours and work-family conflict (work interference with family and family interference with work): results from the 6th Korean working conditions survey
Background: Recently, use of work-related communication technology - smartphones, tablets, and laptops - is increasing rapidly by development of technology with the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. Some studies have suggested that work-related communication technology has a significant link with work-family conflict (WFC) but these studies included only limited number of participants and lacked essential covariates. Therefore, this study analyzes this association using large representative data sample and selected waged workers who were married-couples with children. Methods: This study was conducted based on data from the 6th Korean Working Conditions Surveys (KWCS). A total of 17,426 waged workers having a marriage partner and one or more children were selected. Logistic regression analysis was performed to determine whether WFC was associated with communication technology use. The odds ratios (ORs) for WFC were stratified by sex and working hours. Results: In fully adjusted model, WFC was higher those who used communication technology outside regular working hours compared with those who did not use it (OR: 1.66; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.39-1.97). When stratified by sex and working hours, the effect was greater in women than in men (OR: 1.79; 95% CI: 1.42-2.26 vs. OR: 1.52; 95% CI: 1.17-1.97) and women who worked over 52 hours per week had the highest OR (3.40; 95% CI: 1.25-9.26). Conclusions: This study revealed that the work-related communication technology use outside regular working hours was associated with WFC. The association were greater among those having longer working hours and female workers. These results suggest that appropriate policy should be implemented to reduce working hours and right to disconnect after work, particularly in female workers
