Strange matter bubble formation inside neutron matter

    Get PDF
    Initial stages of the phase transition of the neutron matter into strange matter at zero temperature and finite pressure are considered. Bubble formation is calculated numerically for pressures typical for a neutron star interior. The critical bubble size decreases rapidly with pressure, reaching minimum at p ∼\sim 20 MeV/fm3^{3}

    QCD jet fragmentation functions

    Get PDF
Analytic solutions for the jet fragmentation functions in the leading log approximation for close to 1 are found and compared with exact numerical results

Higgs boson production in deep inelastic scattering and photon structure function

    Get PDF
The standard Higgs boson production in deep inelastic scattering is considered. The contribution from the quark and gluon structure of the photon is calculated. At HERA energies this production channel is below the weak boson fusion

Elastic p-p cross-section and longitudinal motion of quarks

    Get PDF
We show that quark longitudinal degrees of freedom are important for the shape of the elastic p–p cross-section calculated in the dressed quark model using Glauber multiple scattering expansion. We find also that in this model multiple scattering terms are greater than required by data

    QCD Structure of Leptons

    Get PDF
The QCD structure of the electron is defined and calculated. The leading order splitting functions are extracted, showing an important contribution from γ\gamma-ZZ interference. Leading logarithmic QCD evolution equations are constructed and solved in the asymptotic region where log2^2 behaviour of the parton densities is observed. Corrections to the naive evolution procedure are demonstrated. Possible applications with clear manifestation of 'resolved' photon and weak bosons are discussed.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures, revised versio

Elastic p-p cross-section and multiple scattering of quarks

    Get PDF
The elastic p–p cross-section is calculated in the quark model using Glauber multiple scattering expansion. We find that: (a) recoil effects are crucial for momentum transfers higher than 2(GeV/c)2^{2}; (b) multiple scattering terms are larger than required by the data. We interpret this last result as evidence for negative correlations at short distances (in the impact parameter plane) between quarks in the proton

Higgs Boson Production and Weak Boson Structure

    Get PDF
The influence of the QCD structure of the weak bosons on the Higgs boson production in ee-pp scattering is studied. The energy and Higgs boson mass dependence of the cross-section, following from the new contributions, is calculated.Comment: 8 pages, 3 figures, compressed uuencoded Postscript fil
