ASSESSMENT OF SOIL CHEMICAL PROPERTIES UNDER CULTIVATED SOILS IN SELECTED AREA OF DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH
Spatial variability of soil chemical properties is critical for improving crops productivity and sustainable farming techniques. This study was conducted to determine chemical properties of soils in selected area of Department of Agricultural Research (DAR). The study area was located at the field of Department of Agricultural Research, which is located at Zayar Thiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw in Myanmar. A total of 235 soil samples were collected in a systematic grid design using geographical positioning system (GPS). Each grid was specified with the distance of 50 m × 50 m. Variables measured were soil pH, Electrical conductivity (EC), organic matter, total nitrogen, available phosphorus, available potassium, exchangeable calcium, exchangeable magnesium, exchangeable sodium and cation exchange capacity (CEC). Among the statistical results, exchangeable Mg showed the highest variability and soil pH showed the least variability with a coefficient of variation (CV) 69.37% and 8.40% and the values ranged from 0.24 cmolc kg-1 to 6.83 cmolc kg-1 and 4.82 to 7.53, respectively. The electrical conductivity with an average of 0.059 dS m-1 was obtained. The spatial distribution of cation exchange capacity ranged from 1.86 cmolc kg-1 to 12.82 cmolc kg-1. Low to high range of available phosphorus was observed between 1.95 mg kg-1 and 27.91 mg kg-1. The available potassium content in the selected area of DAR soils ranged between 10 mg kg-1 to 317 mg kg-1. Exchangeable calcium varied from 1.13 to 8.35 cmolc kg-1. The soil exchangeable sodium values of the selected area of DAR soil samples varied from 0.05 cmolc kg-1 to 0.69 cmolc kg-1. The pH of the soils was strongly acid to moderately alkaline and EC was non saline condition. The organic matter content found in the selected area varied from 0.33% to 20.85% and the variability of soil chemical properties existed largely due to the differences in management practices by the researchers, and therefore, the researchers should be encouraged to adopt organic matter improvement practices for improving the long-term storage of soil fertility level in crop production. The observed various spatial variability of soil properties that affected soil fertility would provide the information of effective management and decisions making for crop cultivation in Department of Agricultural Research
Gender differences in civic engagement among the youth attending Yangon University of economics
This study focuses on civic engagement and attitudes of youth attending Yangon University of Economics (YUE) in Myanmar, towards increasing understanding of gender differences in leadership and civil society activities. Interviews reveal that youth are more inclined to participate in non-political activities. Female students largely avoid leadership roles. Male youth are a minority at YUE, yet they still hold leadership positions. Civic engagement is very vulnerable to political conflict. One of few studies (2014) found little citizen engagement due to poor information, lack of freedoms, and overall restrictive norms. Currently, Myanmar is in political transition
Microcontroller Based Car Parking Control System
Nowadays, there is a gradual increase in car usage. Therefore, more car parking are needed in some places such as Supermarket, Shopping Mall and Department Store etc. Moreover, those car parking are needed to be systematic, secure, modern, safety and efficient. This paper is aimed to fulfill these necessities. This research paper is devoted the microcontroller based car parking control system. The control system consists of input, control and output section. The input section includes infrared sensors and PS/2 keyboard. PIC microcontroller is used as the main control unit. LCD, barrier circuit, LED, and beeper are included in the output section. Based on the status of the infrared sensors, the microcontroller drives the output section. The software is implemented by using PIC Basic Pro compiler
COVID-19 Pandemic Impact on Public Distress, Economy and Education of Bago Division in Myanmar
In Myanmar, two expatriates have started infected by COVID-19 pandemic on 23 March in 2020 and COVID-19 period was divided into the two periods by the data of patients, from starting July 29, no more infected people found till August 19. Myanmar citizen think that there will be no more new COVID-19 cases, they started running their daily work, not following precaution methods. Unfortunately, the number of patients increased more and more, starting from 20th August. The period between 23rd March and 19th August was regarded as COVID-19 first wave and the period starting from 10th August was COVID-19 second wave by Government. In Myanmar, numbers of developed city are fewer than rural townships. Infrastructures of townships are same and most people, living in rural townships are not rich and they didn't have saving money in Banks and they are depending on their monthly salaries. During pandemic period, general workers faced with unemployment problem and difficulty in daily expenses. Some volunteers helped daily expenses to poor people in COVID-19 first wave. In second COVID-19 wave, volunteers cannot help many families. This paper focused on COVID-19 pandemic impact on Public psychological consequences, Economy, Educational dimension and the prospects after pandemic
