Morphology investigation on direct current pulsed gas tungsten arc welded additive layer manufactured Ti6Al4V alloy
The effects of pulsed gas tungsten arc weldingparameters on the morphology of
additive layer manufacturedTi6Al4V has been investigated in this study. Thepeak/
base current ratio and pulse frequency are found tohave no significant effect on
the refinement of prior betagrain size. However, it is found that the wire feed
ratehas a considerable effect on the prior beta grainrefinement at a given heat
input. This is due to the extrawire input being able to supply many
heterogeneousnucleation sites and also results in a negative temperaturegradient
in the front of the liquidus which blocks thecolumnar growth and changes the
columnar growth toequiaixal growth
Lateral static and dynamic aerodynamic parameters of the Kestrel aircraft (XV-6A) extracted from flight data
Flight test data have been used to extract the lateral static and dynamic aerodynamic parameters of the Kestrel aircraft. The aircraft configurations included thrust-jet angles of 0 deg, 15 deg, and 30 deg, and the test Mach numbers were 0.43, 0.62, and 0.82. The results showed that most of the parameters varied linearly with trim normal-force coefficient. The directional stability parameter showed a small increase with increasing trim normal-force coefficient and also with nozzle deflection. The effective-dihedral parameter, the damping-in-roll parameter, and damping-in-yaw parameter all increased (became more negative) with increasing trim normal-force coefficient. For the latter three parameters, the effect of nozzle deflection was dependent on the trim normal-force coefficient
Extraction from flight data of lateral aerodynamic coefficients for F-8 aircraft with supercritical wing
A parameter-extraction algorithm was used to determine the lateral aerodynamic derivatives from flight data for the F-8 aircraft with supercritical wing. The flight data used were the recorded responses to aileron or rudder pulses for Mach numbers of 0.80, 0.90, and 0.98. Results of this study showed that a set of derivatives were determined which yielded a calculated aircraft response almost identical with the response measured in flight. Derivatives extracted from motion resulting from rudder inputs were somewhat different from those resulting from aileron inputs. It was found that the derivatives obtained from the rudder-input data were highly correlated in some instances. Those from the aileron input had very low correlations and appeared to be the more reliable
Longitudinal aerodynamic parameters of the Kestrel aircraft (XV-6A) extracted from flight data
Flight-test data have been used to extract the longitudinal aerodynamic parameters of a vectored-thrust aircraft. The results show that deflecting the thrust past 15 has an effect on the pitching-moment derivatives and tends to reduce the static stability. The trend toward reduction in the longitudinal stability also been noted by the pilots conducting the flight tests
Magnetic ionization fronts II: Jump conditions for oblique magnetization
We present the jump conditions for ionization fronts with oblique magnetic
fields. The standard nomenclature of R- and D-type fronts can still be applied,
but in the case of oblique magnetization there are fronts of each type about
each of the fast- and slow-mode speeds. As an ionization front slows, it will
drive first a fast- and then a slow-mode shock into the surrounding medium.
Even for rather weak upstream magnetic fields, the effect of magnetization on
ionization front evolution can be important. [Includes numerical MHD models and

Higher-Order Corrected Higgs Bosons in FeynHiggs 2.5
Large higher-order corrections enter the Higgs boson sector of the MSSM via
Higgs-boson self-energies. Their effects have to be taken into account for the
correct treatment of loop-corrected Higgs-boson mass eigenstates as external
(on-shell) or internal particles in Feynman diagrams. We review how the loop
corrections, including momentum dependence and imaginary contributions, are
correctly taken into account for external (on-shell) Higgs boson and how
effective couplings can be derived. The proceedures are implemented in the code

The Hilbert Action in Regge Calculus
The Hilbert action is derived for a simplicial geometry. I recover the usual
Regge calculus action by way of a decomposition of the simplicial geometry into
4-dimensional cells defined by the simplicial (Delaunay) lattice as well as its
dual (Voronoi) lattice. Within the simplicial geometry, the Riemann scalar
curvature, the proper 4-volume, and hence, the Regge action is shown to be
exact, in the sense that the definition of the action does not require one to
introduce an averaging procedure, or a sequence of continuum metrics which were
common in all previous derivations. It appears that the unity of these two dual
