Illocutionary Force in the Novel Darkest Hour by Cleo Virginia Andrews

One aim of this article is to show through concrete examples about how Illocutionary Force used in Novel Darkest Hour By Cleo Virginia Andrews. The research are to describe the six types of illocutionary force in Cleo Virginia Andrews\u27s Darkest Hour to derive the most dominant type of illocutionary force, to explain the meaning of illocutionary force and to analyze the implication of that dominant the six types of illocutionary force to the novel itself. This study applied descriptive qualitative method. They were taken randomly and found 108 the types of illocutionary force; Asserting (21,29 %), Promising (13,89 %), Excomunicating ( 12,04%), Exclaiming in pain (15,74 %), Inquiring (11,11 %), and Ordering (25,92%) occurs in the novel. It was found that the most dominant type of illocutionary force that is used in Cleo Virginia Andrews\u27s Darkest Hour is Ordering for expressing what the speaker wants (25,92%). This implies that the Ordering for expressing what the speaker wants play a great role in the novel. It means that wishes as expression of speaker\u27s desire or wants in order to expect it becomes a reality can be characteristic of the novel in case of applying order to express of Illocutionary Force within utterances

Analisis Mikrostruktur Lapisan Tipis Tio2:zno yang Dideposisikan Diatas Subtrat Kaca dengan Metode Spray Coating untuk Degradasi Limbah Zat Warna

TiO2 is known as a good material candidate for environmental pollutant degradation. A combination of ZnO and TiO2 in the hope of enhancing the ability of ZnO in degrading the dye liquids. Precursor solutions TiO2, ZnO and TiO2: ZnO are deposited using sol-gel method of Spray Coating Technique. Microstructures of TiO2 and TiO2: ZnO thin films with and without the ZnO buffer layer were observed using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). The photocatalyst activity was tested on Direct Blue degradation. The results conclude that TiO2: ZnO and ZnO thin films can form well above the glass substrate shown by the appearance of peaks of either ZnO or TiO2. But for TiO2 thin layers do not munujukan good results. The incorporation of TiO2: ZnO causes a lattice strain on the thin TiO2: ZnO film resulting in the narrowing of the energy band gap, resulting in increased photocatalytic capability of the thin film. TiO2: ZnO thin film has better photocatalytic capability than TiO2 or ZnO thin films

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS’ READING INTEREST AND READING COMPREHENSION OF TRIDINANTI UNIVERSITY PALEMBANG

Reading comprehension is an active thinking process that is depended not only comprehension skill but the students’ experience and prior knowledge comprehension involves understanding the vocabulary, seeing the relationship among words and concept making judgment and evaluating. The study was aimed to find the significant correlation and contribution between reading interest and reading comprehension. Fifty four students of Undergraduate EFL students of Tridinnati University Palembang became the sample of the study. The data was gained from students’ reading interest questionnaire and their reading comprehension test. In analyzing the data, correlation analysis and regression analysis were used. The result showed that the correlation coefficient level between reading interest and reading comprehension was 0.477 with the sig. value 0.000, it means that there was a significant correlation between reading interest and reading comprehension of undergraduate EFL students Tridinanti University Palembang. Then, reading interest gave contribution to reading comprehension as much as 18.6%.Key words: reading interest, reaing comprehension

Evaluasi Dampak Infrastruktur Jalan terhadap Perkembangan Fisik Kota dan Kegiatan Perdagangan/Jasa di Kawasan Koridor Jalan Lingkar Soekarno-Hatta Kota Palembang

Semakin berkembangnya Kota Palembang dan bertambahnya jumlah penduduk, akan meningkatkan aktivitas.Kota Palembang memiliki misi, salah satunya melanjutkan pembangunan Kota Palembang sebagai Kota Metropolitan yang bertaraf Internasional.Oleh karena itu untuk mewujudkan harapan tersebut pemerintah semakin gencar membangun infrastruktur. Salah satu kawasan yang merupakan area perkembangan baru adalah kawasan di koridor jalan lingkar Soekarno-Hatta. Penelitian ini mengkaji mengenai dampak Jalan Soekarno-Hatta terhadap perkembangan fisik kota dan kegiatan perdagangan/jasa di kawasan koridor jalan Soekarno-Hatta. Untuk mencaai tujuan penelitian ini maka langkah-langkah yang ditempuh adalah : 1) mengetahui Perubahan karakteristik spasial kawasan dari tahun ke tahun, 2) mengidentifikasi faktor yang mempengaruhi perkembangan perdagangan/jasa di sepanjang Jalan Soekarno-Hatta. Hasil penelitian menujukan perkembangan keruangan di kawasan koridor Jalan Soekarno Hatta pada tahun 2004 sampai 2014 lambat, kawasan tersebut diperuntukan untuk kawasan campuran.Faktor yang mempengaruhi kegiatan perdagangan/jasa adalah keberadaan kegiatan perdagangan/jasa sebelumnya,akseibilitas terjangkau yang mengakibatkan tingkat keramaian lalu lintas tinggi, serta kebijakan pemerintah. Rekomendasi penelitian untuk penentu kebijakan adalah : 1) untuk pengembangan kawasan, perlu adanya pengembangan jalan kolektor dan lokal yang menuju ke jalan arteri Soekarno Hatta, dimana sudah ada embrio jalan yang siap untuk ditingkatkan. 2) perlu dibuatkan suatuu Rencana Tata Bangunan dan Lingkungan (RTBL) yang sesuai dengn fungsi jalan

Penerapan Komunitas Merek Organisasi Non Profit dari Perspektif Sosial Marketing Public Relations (Studi Komunitas Merek “Sahabat Ombudsman”)

Komunitas merek tidak hanya dimiliki oleh organisasi komersil namun juga oleh organisasi non profit. Salah satu organisasi non profit di Indonesia yang memiliki komunitas merek adalah Ombudsman RI. Untuk menjangkau masyarakat, Ombudsman D.I. Yogyakarta sebagai perwakilan Ombudsman Indonesia di D.I Yogyakarta membentuk sebuah komunitas merek bernama Sahabat Ombudsman dalam menjangkau masyarakat. Selain di D.I Yogyakarta, Sahabat Ombudsman baru ada di Bali. Tujuan dibentuk Sahabat Ombudsman adalah agar produk sosial Ombudsman diterima oleh masyarakat dan masyarakat dapat menjalankan perilaku yang diinginkan sesuai dengan objektif Ombudsman. Penelitian ini melihat strategi penerapan komunitas merek Ombudsman dari perspektif Sosial Marketing Public Relations (SMPRS). SMPRS yang efektif memegang peranan penting dalam menghasilan publisitas media dan word-of-mouth (WOM). Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode pengumpulan data primer melalui wawancara mendalam.
