Malaria has still been a threatening of health problem in the world, particularly in tropical countries including Indonesia. The malaria cases in Central Java continued to increase. One of the Malaria endemic areas in Banyumas is Sumpiuh Primary Health Care II. Based on preliminary survey, It was found that there were risky behavior affecting the emerge of malaria. This study aimed to find out the community perception, action probabilility and information about malaria which influenced to preventive behavior in Primary Health Care II Sumpiuh.Cross sectional study was conducted to head of household in primary health care II Sumpiuh. The number of sample that was selected with simple random sampling method was 95 household heads. Data analysis methods used in this study were univariate analysis with descriptive statistic, bivariate with chi square and multivariate with logistic regression. Community perceptions about vulnerability, seriousity of disease, obstruction and perception about information did not relate to preventive behavior of Malaria, except perception about the benefit related to preventive behavior. The influenced variable for malaria preventive behavior was prevention benefit taken by community

Prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS) in Indonesia (13,13%) is high and tends to increase. One of the consequences of MS is endothelial dysfunction leading to cardiovascular disease which is inducted by oxidative stressand inflammation. The aim of the present research is to explore lipid profile, lipid peroxidation, and inflammatory marker level on metabolic syndrome women in Purwokerto. Thirty women with blood glucose level greater than normal, body mass index (BMI) > 25 kg/m2, 40-65 years of age were recruited as respondent through selection by a survey in Internal Medicine Polyclinic of Margono Soekarjo Hospital in Purwokerto. In respondents with blood glucose level > 200 mg/dL, total blood cholesterol level, high density lipoprotein, low density lipoprotein, malondialdehid, and plasma C-reactive protein were determined. It was found that the MS women were 50,4 years of age; BMI 31,89 kg/m2; blood glucose 219,4 mg/dL; total cholesterol 216,73 mg/dL; triglyceride 218,13 mg/dL; HDL 46,59 mg/dL; LDL 146,27mg/dL; MDA 2943,4 pmol/mL; C-RP 7,62 mg/L; and blood pressure 153/103 mmHg. It indicates that SM women experience dyslipidemia with low antioxidant and inflammation

Background: Dengue is a major mosquito-borne viral disease and an important public health problem. Identifying which factors are important determinants in the risk of dengue infection is critical in supporting and guiding preventive measures. In South-East Asia, half of all reported fatal infections are recorded in Indonesia, yet little is known about the epidemiology of dengue in this country. Methodology/Principal findings: Hospital-reported dengue cases in Banyumas regency, Central Java were examined to build Bayesian spatial and spatio-temporal models assessing the influence of climatic, demographic and socio-economic factors on the risk of dengue infection. A socio-economic factor linking employment type and economic status was the most influential on the risk of dengue infection in the Regency. Other factors such as access to healthcare facilities and night-time temperature were also found to be associated with higher risk of reported dengue infection but had limited explanatory power. Conclusions/Significance: Our data suggest that dengue infections are triggered by indoor transmission events linked to socio-economic factors (employment type, economic status). Preventive measures in this area should therefore target also specific environments such as schools and work areas to attempt and reduce dengue burden in this community. Although our analysis did not account for factors such as variations in immunity which need further investigation, this study can advise preventive measures in areas with similar patterns of reported dengue cases and environmen
