Na poziomie percepcji języki można podzielić na trzy typy rytmiczne oparte na przycisku, sylabie i morze. W językach z rytmem opartym na przycisku, sylaby akcentowane pojawiają się w regularnych przedziałach czasowych, podczas gdy w językach z rytmem sylabicznym i morowym, sylaby i mory występują w równych odstępach czasu. Mimo że liczne badania fonetyczne nie potwierdziły istnienia izochronizmu w potoku mowy, istnieje wiele dowodów wskazujących na to, iż rytm odgrywa istotną rolę w przetwarzaniu języka. W niniejszym artykule dostarczamy argumentów na to, że modele fonetyczne traktujące rytm jako zjawisko podrzędne nie są wystarczające dla opisu różnych systemów językowych oraz wskazujemy, że intuicyjne pojęcie rytmu powinno być włączone do analizy fonologicznej.  Rytm tkwi w umyśle. The Use of Time in Storytelling

Each study was based on the same speech type, story telling elicited by pictorial materials. The temporal measures were speech and articulation rates, pause duration, phrase length, and percentage of pause time/total time. The hypothesis was confirmed except for studies carried out with identifiably variant methodologies. Further support for the hypothesis was found by contrasting the use of time characteristic of interviewees' speech

Die Entwicklung des deutschen Pluralsystems im 20. Jahrhundert

Die vorliegende Arbeit behandelt in fünf Kapiteln die Entwicklung des deutschen Pluralsystems im 20. Jahrhundert. Es wird die Frage verfolgt, ob es innerhalb des deutschen Pluralsystems zu einer Ab- und Zunahme der verschiedenen Klassen von Pluralformen (-e, -e, (e)n, -er, -0) kommt, ob sich vielleicht bestimmte Tendenzen durch den Vergleich zwischen den Pluralklassen im untersuchten Zeitraum erkennen lassen, und ob sich Veränderungen im Pluralsystem zeigen. Es geht aber nicht nur um die Pluralbildung der nativen Wörter, sondern auch um die aus fremden Sprachen übernommenen Substantive, bei denen sich besondere Schwierigkeiten innerhalb des deutschen Pluralsystems ergeben. Ich habe bei der Unterscheidung zwischen produktiven und unproduktiven Pluralformen die Hypothese bestätigt, dass die Klassen der Nomen mit produktiven Pluralformen neue Mitglieder bekommen und wenige alte verlieren. Im Gegenteil dazu verringert sich die Anzahl der Wörter mit unproduktiven Pluralformen im untersuchten Zeitraum von 1904 bis 2000 zusehends. Diese Entwicklungen und andere Ergebnisse konnte ich anhand der erstellten Datenbank und der Untersuchung der relevanten Literatur feststellen

Scaling Up of Steric Exclusion Membrane Chromatography for Lentiviral Vector Purification

Lentiviral vectors (LVs) are widely used in clinical trials of gene and cell therapy. Low LV stability incentivizes constant development and the improvement of gentle process steps. Steric exclusion chromatography (SXC) has gained interest in the field of virus purification but scaling up has not yet been addressed. In this study, the scaling up of lentiviral vector purification by SXC with membrane modules was approached. Visualization of the LVs captured on the membrane during SXC showed predominant usage of the upper membrane layer. Furthermore, testing of different housing geometries showed a strong influence on the uniform usage of the membrane. The main use of the first membrane layer places a completely new requirement on the scaling of the process and the membrane modules. When transferring the SXC process to smaller or larger membrane modules, it became apparent that scaling of the flow rate is a critical factor that must be related to the membrane area of the first layer. Performing SXC at different scales demonstrated that a certain critical minimum surface area-dependent flow rate is necessary to achieve reproducible LV recoveries. With the presented scaling approach, we were able to purify 980 mL LVs with a recovery of 68%
