This article studied whether teachers' questioning has an impact on the critical thinking of high school students in English class. Firstly, the author went to the practice school personally for a two-month classroom observation and recorded teachersā€™ question in the classroom. This article referred to Bloom's taxonomy of educational objectives, and divided the cognitive process into six dimensions: Remember, Understand, Apply, Analyze, Evaluate, Create. The first two of the six types were primary cognitive problems, and the last four were advanced cognitive question. In order to analyze whether the questions help or improve the critical thinking of high school students, the author wrote down the number of each question asked and the proportion of the total number of questions. Then author gave the students questionnaires and interviewed teachers about relative questions. Based on the collected data, this article analyzed the correlation. This study showed a certain degree of positive correlation between the Teachers' questioning and the students' critical thinking scores through the classroom observation record table and the students' reading scores in the test, as well as the students' critical thinking questionnaire data

A Study Of Student Use Of An Online Message Board In An Introductory Physics Class

    Get PDF
With the rapid development of the Internet, increasingly universities and colleges transfer some of their teaching assignments online. Online learning plays an important role in assisting or sometimes substituting for the traditional face-toace learning. An online message board is one of several online communication tools which are used to assist online learning. We have conducted a study on the role of the online message board in teaching one of these courses, an introductory course in calculus-based physics. The study analyzed students? use of the message board and investigated whether use is correlated with performance in the class. Results suggest that students have benefited from using the online message board. Both homework related message board activities and non-learning message boardn activities were found to be correlated significantly to the grades the students earned in the course

Purpose: To determine the effect of a combination of omeprazole and high-dose proton pump inhibitor (PPI) on the treatment of patients with liver cirrhosis complicated with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Methods: A total of 100 patients with liver cirrhosis and upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage who were admitted to Qingdao Chengyang District Peopleā€™s Hospital from January 2019 to September 2020 were matched and randomly assigned to a control group and a study group. Patients in both groups received a high-dose PPI treatment, while those in the study group were given omeprazole in addition to highdose PPI. Total treatment effectiveness, incidence of adverse reactions, bleeding volume, hemostasis time, liver function after treatment, Quality of Life Index (QLI) scores, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scores, and bleeding (%) at 1, 2 and 4 weeks after treatment were compared for the two groups of patients. Results: Omeprazole-PPI combination produced a much more favorable outcome than treatment with only high-dose PPI, in terms of effectiveness, QLI scores and liver function (p < 0.05). The study group had significantly lower incidence of adverse reactions, bleeding volume, VAS scores, and degree of bleeding at 1, 2 and 4 weeks after treatment, as well as shorter hemostasis time, than the control group (p < 0.05).Conclusion: A combination treatment of omeprazole and high-dose PPI produces better therapeutic effect than high-dose PPI alone, in patients with liver cirrhosis and upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage

Superconducting transformers for power, energy, and transportation applications: An introduction to superconducting technology for transformer engineers

    Get PDF
Superconducting transformers have advantages over their conventional counterparts, making them a killer technology in electric power grids and renewable energy systems, as well as transportation applications requiring high power transmission capacity. Compared to conventional transformers, superconducting transformers offer low weight, small size, high fault tolerance, fault current limitation, significant overload capability, and no environmental issues or fire hazards. Power systems and microgrids are candidates for the implementation of superconducting transformers when they include distributed generation and renewable energy, especially wind farms. Transportation applications also benefit from the highly compact structure and lightweight superconducting transformers. This paper introduces opportunities offered by superconducting transformers for supplying power with high reliability, stability, and safety

A Novel Helical Superconducting Fault Current Limiter for Electric Propulsion Aircraft

It is crucial to achieve a high safety and reliability standard in future Electric Propulsion Aircraft (EPA). Due to low short-circuit impedance and high rate of fault current rise in EPA systems, the superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) plays a promising role, with advantages of light weight, high efficiency and compact size, compared to conventional FCL. A novel helical bifilar coil is proposed which is composed of two windings wound in opposite directions on the same bobbin, these are connected in series to achieve equal current sharing and a non-inductive circuit. 12 mm-wide stainless steel reinforced superconducting tape from AMSC was used for the windings. To characterize the proposed helical bifilar coil connected in series (BCS), AC loss tests under three frequencies and quench tests under prospective fault current up to 2223 A were carried out. They were compared with the results measured from a conventional helical bifilar coil connected in parallel (BCP) which had an identical specification to the BCS. It was concluded that AC losses measured in the BCP is dependent on current and frequency. The fault current was suppressed effectively by the BCS at the first half peak from 2223 A to 495 A, corresponding to 22.3% of the prospective fault current. Quench performance of BCP was also tested and discussed

    Superconducting traction transformer

An ongoing project to develop HTS traction transformers for the Chinese Fuxing high-speed train is demonstrating that the high-power density can be reached using high-temperature superconductors (HTS). The findings are spectacular: the existing 6.5 MVA traction transformers can be replaced with drop-in superconducting transformers, achieving targets of less than 3 tons transformer system weight and 99.5 % efficiency compared to 6 tons and 95 % in the existing devices. The key to achieving these impressive figures is minimizing the AC loss of the HTS windings. New high-performance wire, high current HTS Roebel conductor, high aspect-ratio windings, and flux diverters placed at the winding ends all contribute to reducing the electrical loss to less than 2 kW
