Metali u medu iz provincije Henan, Kina: sustavna analiza metodom ICP-AES
In this study, the method for determining ten elements (including K, Na, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Pb, and Cd) was designed. With this method, we evaluated 15 honey samples, including three kinds of honey collected from 11 different geographic sites in Henan province of China, with inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). The obtained detecting data were analysed with principal component analysis, correlation analysis, and cluster analysis techniques. The results showed that the recovery is in the range of 93.0−107.0 %, and the relative standard deviations (RSDs) were all below 5.89 %, which indicates that the current analytical method is dependable for the detection of metallic elements in honey.

Oś MIF/CD74 jako cel terapii metforminą w podocytopatii cukrzycowej — rzeczywista praktyka kliniczna
Introduction:To observe the effects of metformin on urinary excretion of MIF, CD74 and podocalyxin in type 2 diabetics and to explore its possible renoprotective mechanisms.
Methods: 202 uncontrolled type 2 diabetics, who were previously prescribed sulfonylurea monotherapy(n=100) or sulfonylurea in combination with metformin (n=102) were enrolled in the study. The amount of macrophage migration inhibitory factor(MIF) and CD74 in serum, urinary MIF to creatine ratio(UMCR), urinary CD74 to creatine ratio(UCCR), urinary albumin to creatine ratio(UACR) and urinary podocalyxin to creatine ratio (UPCR) were determined.
Results: Metabolic parameters including fasting blood glucose, postprandial 2 hours blood glucose, hemoglobin A1c, MIF and CD74 in serum were comparable between the two groups. Moreover, metformin add-on therapy showed significantly better efficacy in reducing UMCR, UCCR, UPCR and UACR in comparison with those in sulfonylurea monotherapy group, respectively. UPCR had positive correlation with UACR, UMCR and UCCR (r=0.73, r=0.69, r=0.62, P < 0.01), respectively.
Conclusions: Metformin could present its podocyte-protective capacity in type 2 diabetics and the underlying mechanisms may be partly attributed to its effects in suppressing MIF-CD74 axis mediated inflammatory cascade response.
Materiał i metody: W badaniu wzięło udział 202 pacjentów z niewyrównaną cukrzycą typu 2, którym zalecono wcześniej monoterapię sulfonylomocznikiem (n = 100) lub sulfonylomocznikiem skojarzonym z metforminą (n = 102). Podczas badania określono ilość czynnika hamującego migrację makrofagów (MIF) i CD74 w surowicy krwi, wskaźnik MIF/kreatynina (urinary MIF to creatinine ratio; UMCR), wskaźnik CD74/kreatynina (urinary CD74 to creatinine ratio; UCCR), wskaźnik albumina/kreatynina (urinary albumin to creatinine ratio; UACR) oraz wskaźnik podokaliksyna/kreatynina (urinary podocalyxin to creatinine ratio; UPCR).
Wyniki: Parametry metaboliczne, w tym glikemia na czczo, stężenie glukozy we krwi dwie godziny po posiłku, hemoglobina A1c, MIF i CD74 w surowicy krwi były porównywalne w obu grupach. Ponadto, terapia z dodatkiem metforminy wykazała znacznie lepszą skuteczność w redukowaniu wskaźników UMCR, UCCR, UPCR i UACR w porównaniu z grupą, w której zastosowano monoterapię sulfonylomocznikiem.
Broadband enhanced transmission through the stacked metallic multi-layers perforated with coaxial annular apertures
This paper theoretically and experimentally presents a first report on
broadband enhanced transmission through stacked metallic multi-layers
perforated with coaxial annular apertures (CAAs). Different from previous
studies on extraordinary transmission that occurs at a single frequency, the
enhanced transmission of our system with two or three metallic layers can span
a wide frequency range with a bandwidth about 60% of the central frequency. The
phenomena arise from the excitation and hybridization of guided resonance modes
in CAAs among different layers. Measured transmission spectra are in good
agreement with calculations semi-analytically resolved by modal expansion
method.Comment: 9 pages,4 figure
Towards Robust SDRTV-to-HDRTV via Dual Inverse Degradation Network
Recently, the transformation of standard dynamic range TV (SDRTV) to high
dynamic range TV (HDRTV) is in high demand due to the scarcity of HDRTV
content. However, the conversion of SDRTV to HDRTV often amplifies the existing
coding artifacts in SDRTV which deteriorate the visual quality of the output.
In this study, we propose a dual inverse degradation SDRTV-to-HDRTV network
DIDNet to address the issue of coding artifact restoration in converted HDRTV,
which has not been previously studied. Specifically, we propose a
temporal-spatial feature alignment module and dual modulation convolution to
remove coding artifacts and enhance color restoration ability. Furthermore, a
wavelet attention module is proposed to improve SDRTV features in the frequency
domain. An auxiliary loss is introduced to decouple the learning process for
effectively restoring from dual degradation. The proposed method outperforms
the current state-of-the-art method in terms of quantitative results, visual
quality, and inference times, thus enhancing the performance of the
SDRTV-to-HDRTV method in real-world scenarios.Comment: 10 page
Integral equation method for the electromagnetic wave propagation in stratified anisotropic dielectric-magnetic materials
We investigate the propagation of electromagnetic waves in stratified
anisotropic dielectric-magnetic materials using the integral equation method
(IEM). Based on the superposition principle, we use Hertz vector formulations
of radiated fields to study the interaction of wave with matter. We derive in a
new way the dispersion relation, Snell's law and reflection/transmission
coefficients by self-consistent analyses. Moreover, we find two new forms of
the generalized extinction theorem. Applying the IEM, we investigate the wave
propagation through a slab and disclose the underlying physics which are
further verified by numerical simulations. The results lead to a unified
framework of the IEM for the propagation of wave incident either from a medium
or vacuum in stratified dielectric-magnetic materials.Comment: 14pages, 3figure
Florid cystitis glandularis (intestinal type) with mucus extravasation: Two case reports and literature review
BackgroundCystitis glandularis is a common bladder epithelial lesion characterized by hyperplasia and metaplasia of the bladder mucosa epithelium. The pathogenesis of cystitis glandularis of the intestinal type is unknown and less common. When cystitis glandularis (intestinal type) is extremely severely differentiated, it is called florid cystitis glandularis (the occurrence is extremely rare).Case summaryBoth patients were middle-aged men. In patient 1, the lesion was also seen in the posterior wall and was diagnosed more than 1 year ago as cystitis glandularis with urethral stricture. Patient 2 was examined for symptoms such as hematuria and was found to have an occupied bladder; both were treated surgically, and the postoperative pathology was diagnosed as florid cystitis glandularis (intestinal type), with mucus extravasation.ConclusionThe pathogenesis of cystitis glandularis (intestinal type) is unknown and less common. When cystitis glandularis of the intestinal type is extremely severely differentiated, we call it florid cystitis glandularis. It is more common in the bladder neck and trigone. The clinical manifestations are mainly symptoms of bladder irritation, or hematuria as the main complaint, which rarely leads to hydronephrosis. Imaging is nonspecific and the diagnosis depends on pathology. Surgical excision of the lesion is possible. Due to the malignant potential of cystitis glandularis of intestinal type, postoperative follow-up is required
