Joint RNN Model for Argument Component Boundary Detection

Argument Component Boundary Detection (ACBD) is an important sub-task in argumentation mining; it aims at identifying the word sequences that constitute argument components, and is usually considered as the first sub-task in the argumentation mining pipeline. Existing ACBD methods heavily depend on task-specific knowledge, and require considerable human efforts on feature-engineering. To tackle these problems, in this work, we formulate ACBD as a sequence labeling problem and propose a variety of Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) based methods, which do not use domain specific or handcrafted features beyond the relative position of the sentence in the document. In particular, we propose a novel joint RNN model that can predict whether sentences are argumentative or not, and use the predicted results to more precisely detect the argument component boundaries. We evaluate our techniques on two corpora from two different genres; results suggest that our joint RNN model obtain the state-of-the-art performance on both datasets.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, submitted to IEEE SMC 201

The treatment of Spanish phraseology in China. An approach to Modern Spanish

As a branch of lexicology, phraseology has been widely recognized to be particularly important for foreign language learners. Phraseological resources are not only a key component of the linguistic field, but also an important part of a nation’s cultural wealth. For learners, mastering phraseological units means a higher level of language and closer knowledge to the culture. In this paper, basing on the previous achievements in this field, we investigated all types of the concept and briefly reviewed the domestic studies on such linguistic phenomenon. Through these studies, we noticed that most of the relevant studies focused on the linguistic comparison between Spanish and Chinese, however the didactics on phraseology were lack of consensus due to few studies on the teaching of phraseology in China. Therefore, we try to carefully analyze Modern Spanish, the most widely used manual in China, for the purpose of making a thorough review of the processing of collocations, idioms and phraseologisms in the discourse respectively. We found that the manual does not provide a unified criterion for cataloging the phraseological units, which would be detrimental to the understanding and application of phraseological units for Chinese learners. In addition, for the bilingual dictionaries published on the phraseological units of Spanish and Chinese, there is hardly an explicit explanation for the definition and classification of the discipline either in the introductory part or the body text. Therefore, we hope that the results of this paper can be helpful to the improvement of manuals and teaching of phraseology for Chinese students.

In order to adapt to the development trend of Chinese pharmaceutical business and the modernization of Chinese medicine, complex talents are cultivated to develop new dosage forms of Chinese medicine, solve key technologies and quality issues in production practice and adapt to the modern development of Chinese pharmaceutical industry. Teaching philosophy of pharmaceutics of Chinese medicinal herbs should be formed in a way of "student-centered, teacher-led, and textbook-centered". Thus, the students not only can master the basic theory and knowledge, but make the combination of theory and practice, which would develop the ability to analyze and solve problems and improve innovation capabilities. In this paper, a diversified teaching model was explored in teaching practice of pharmaceutics of Chinese medicinal herbs

Flexible quantum private queries based on quantum key distribution

We present a flexible quantum-key-distribution-based protocol for quantum private queries. Similar to M. Jakobi et al's protocol [Phys. Rev. A 83, 022301 (2011)], it is loss tolerant, practical and robust against quantum memory attack. Furthermore, our protocol is more flexible and controllable. We show that, by adjusting the value of θ\theta, the average number of the key bits Alice obtains can be located on any fixed value the users wanted for any database size. And the parameter kk is generally smaller (even k=1k=1 can be achieved) when θ<π/4\theta<\pi/4, which implies lower complexity of both quantum and classical communications. Furthermore, the users can choose a smaller θ\theta to get better database security, or a larger θ\theta to obtain a lower probability with which Bob can correctly guess the address of Alice's query.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure

The Entanglement in Anisotropic Heisenberg XYZ Chain with inhomogeneous magnetic field

The thermal entanglement of a two-qubit anisotropic Heisenberg XYZXYZ chain under an inhomogeneous magnetic field b is studied. It is shown that when inhomogeneity is increased to certain value, the entanglement can exhibit a larger revival than that of less values of b. The property is both true for zero temperature and a finite temperature. The results also show that the entanglement and critical temperature can be increased by increasing inhomogeneous exteral magnetic field

As the most common cancer in men, prostate cancer is molecularly heterogeneous. Contributing to this heterogeneity are the poorly understood metabolic adaptations of the two main types of prostate cancer, i.e., adenocarcinoma and small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (SCNC), the latter being more aggressive and lethal. Using transcriptomics, untargeted metabolomics and lipidomics profiling on LASCPC-01 (prostate SCNC) and LNCAP (prostate adenocarcinoma) cell lines, we found significant differences in the cellular phenotypes of the two cell lines. Gene set enrichment analysis on the transcriptomics data showed 62 gene sets were upregulated in LASCPC-01, while 112 gene sets were upregulated in LNCAP. ChemRICH analysis on metabolomics and lipidomics data revealed a total of 25 metabolite clusters were significantly different. LASCPC-01 exhibited a higher glycolytic activity and lower levels of triglycerides, while the LNCAP cell line showed increases in one-carbon metabolism as an exit route of glycolytic intermediates and a decrease in carnitine, a mitochondrial lipid transporter. Our findings pinpoint differences in prostate neuroendocrine carcinoma versus prostate adenocarcinoma that could lead to new therapeutic targets in each type

Homo-binding character of LMO2 isoforms and their both synergic and antagonistic functions in regulating hematopoietic-related target genes

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The human <it>lmo2 </it>gene plays important roles in hematopoiesis and is associated with acute T lymphocyte leukemia. The gene encodes two protein isoforms, a longer form LMO2-L and a shorter form LMO2-S. Both isoforms function as bridge molecules to assemble their partners together to regulate their target genes. A typical LMO2 binding site consists of two elements, a GATA site and an E-box, with an interval of 9~12 bp.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>In this study, the combination of MBP pulldown assay and mammalian two hybrid assay were used to confirm the homo-binding character of LMO2-L/-S isoforms. Luciferase reporter assay and Real-time PCR assay were used to detect expression levels and relative promoter activities of LMO2-L/-S isoforms. Co-transfection and Luciferase reporter assay were used to reveal the detailed regulatory pattern of LMO2-L/-S isoforms on their targets.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Herein we report the homo-interaction character of LMO2-L and LMO2-S and their major difference in manner of regulating their target genes. Our results showed that LMO2-L and LMO2-S could only bind to themselves but not each other. It was also demonstrated that LMO2-L could either positively or negatively regulate the transcription of its different target genes, depending on the arrangement and strand location of the two elements GATA site and E-box, LMO2-S, however, performed constitutively transcriptional inhibiting function on all target genes.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>These results suggest that LMO2 isoforms have independent functions while there is no interaction between each other and they could play synergetic or antagonistic roles precisely in regulating their different genes involved in normal and aberrant hematopoiesis.</p
