Flexible Multi-Agent Protocols
In this paper we de ne a novel technique for the speci cation of agent protocols in Multi-Agent-Systems. This technique addresses a number of shortcomings of previous Electronic Institution based speci cations. In particular, we relax the static speci cation of agent protocols as statebased diagrams and allow protocols to be de ned and disseminated in a exible manner during agent interaction. Our exible speci cation is derived from process algebra and thus forms a sound basis for the veri cation of such systems

Background: Research has unequivocally demonstrated that females and youth soccer players are at a significant high risk of concussion. Recently, concerns for âheadingâ have been raised due to possible adverse neurological effects. While head impact accelerations and rotations have been investigated in American football, head impacts in youth soccer have not been rigorously studied. The purpose is to measure impact accelerations that result from different heading scenarios during youth soccer games.
Methods: 16 players on an U-14 female youth soccer team were fitted with headbands instrumented with wireless sensors (GForceTracker, Artaflex Inc., Markham, Ontario, Canada) during eight soccer games. All games were video recorded to characterize heading scenario. Peak linear acceleration, and peak rotational velocity were recorded for each header.
Results: A total of 126 header impacts were recorded, and long-range kicks accounted for 40% of all headers. Average header peak linear acceleration was 16.78 g and ranged from 7.96 g (ball deflection) to 38.62 g (drop kick). Average header peak rotational velocity was 1063 °/s and ranged from 37 °/s (long-range kick) to 2791 °/s (long-range kick).
Discussions and conclusions: Header accelerations experienced by youth players depend on game scenario with largest impact accelerations from drop kicks and long-range kicks. Although the number of head impacts is smaller in soccer compared to American football, the impact magnitudes are comparable.
Interdisciplinary Reflection: While the measured head accelerations are below injury thresholds, these data provide insight into the magnitude of head impacts in soccer and possible contribution to long-term cognitive deficits
Systematic modification of UiOâ66 metalâorganic frameworks for glucose conversion into 5âhydroxymethyl furfural in water
Metal organic framework UiOâ66 is studied as an adaptable heterogeneous catalyst for glucose conversion. UiOâ66 was modified by; i) partial linker substitution, ii) particle size modulation and iii) linker defects. We studied the effect of crystallinity and functional groups on the glucose conversion and product yields. The main products are: i) fructose from the isomerisation of glucose, ii) mannose from the epimerisation of glucose and iii) 5âhydroxymethyl furfural from the dehydration of fructose. We found that defective and nano crystalline UiOâ66 catalyst performs best for isomerisation. When 50 % of the linkers of UiOâ66 are replaced by a sulfonateâcontaining linker, the catalyst shows higher isomerisation activity than other UiOâ66 catalysts. Naphthaleneâdicarboxylate linkers were introduced to induce hydrophobicity and this catalyst further increased isomerisation activity showing 31 % fructose selectivity. Finally, the promising catalysts were tested in a flow reactor and a bifunctional mixed linker catalyst possessing both hydrophobic and acidic functional groups is shown to be stable in a timeâonâstream study

The low-resolution version of HadGEM3 GC3.1: development and evaluation for global climate
A new climate model, HadGEM3 N96ORCA1, is presented that is part of the GC3.1 configuration of HadGEM3. N96ORCA1 has a horizontal resolution of ~135 km in the atmosphere and 1° in the ocean and requires an order of magnitude less computing power than its medium-resolution counterpart, N216ORCA025, while retaining a high degree of performance traceability. Scientific performance is compared both to observations and the N216ORCA025 model. N96ORCA1 reproduces observed climate mean and variability almost as well as N216ORCA025. Patterns of biases are similar across the two models. In the north-west Atlantic, N96ORCA1 shows a cold surface bias of up to 6K, typical of ocean models of this resolution. The strength of the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation (16 to 17 Sv) matches observations. In the Southern Ocean, a warm surface bias (up to 2K) is smaller than in N216ORCA025 and linked to improved ocean circulation. Model El Niùo/Southern Oscillation and Atlantic Multidecadal Variability are close to observations. Both the cold bias in the Northern hemisphere (N96ORCA1) and the warm bias in the Southern hemisphere (N216ORCA025) develop in the first few decades of the simulations. As in many comparable climate models, simulated interhemispheric gradients of top-of-atmosphere radiation are larger than observations suggest, with contributions from both hemispheres. HadGEM3 GC3.1 N96ORCA1 constitutes the physical core of the UK Earth System Model (UKESM1) and will be used extensively in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project 6 (CMIP6), both as part of UKESM1 and as a stand-alone coupled climate model

Effects of fire-fighting on a fully developed compartment fire: temperatures and emissions
This study evaluates the effects and consequences of fire-fighting operations on the main characteristics of a fully-developed compartment fire. It also presents data and evaluation of the conditions to which fire-fighters are exposed. A typical room enclosure was used with ventilation through a corridor to the front access door. The fire load was wooden pallets. Flashover was reached and the fire became fully developed before the involvement of the fire-fighting team. The progression of the fire-fighters through the corridor and the main-room suppression attack - in particular the effect of short, medium and long water pulses on either the hot gas layer or the fire seat - was charted against the compartment temperatures, heat release rates, oxygen levels and toxic species concentrations. The fire fighting team was exposed to extreme conditions, heat fluxes in excess of 35 kW/m2 and temperatures of the order of 250 oC even at crouching level. The fire equivalence ratio showed rich burning with high toxic emissions in particular of CO and unburnt hydrocarbons very early in the fire history and a stabilisation of the equivalence ratio at about 1.8. The fire fighting operations made the combustion temporarily richer and the emissions even higher
